Hi, Matt, do agree with many that’s one of the best videos you have done. Really appreciate your views and a thought process. May be a silly question as a newbie. Why do you need a split ring . Can’t one just a loop knot to the top. Thank you.
not a silly question at all mate. sometimes when lures come out of the factory the wiring can be sharp so a split ring is attached for that reason as well as extra movement if some one doesn't tie a loop knot
👏👏👏 Well done Matt, a few months ago i bagged you for not giving enough tech info. Mate you nailed it with this video. Bloodly brilliant. Best episode you have done in ages. Even i could catch worthy fish with the tips you supplied . Many thumbs up, great work. 👍👍👍👍👍
It looks like you guys are tying off to the split ring. I've always been told that's a no no as could potentially damage the line. Looks like tie off point was on the other side of the lure. I believe that split ring was put there to add another hook set if desired. Other then that very nice video. Thanks!
There's only one tie off point, it's on the top. The bottom is for extra hooks, you can't tie on there or the vibe won't work. Maybe on heavy tackle or where you want to change often you might tie off to a solid ring instead of the split ring.
@@mungbean84 Well I've never seen people tie off to a split ring before as it damages the line. Matty, cant wait to buy & try. QUESTION PLEASE... seems they only come with a SPLIT RING ??? what do you think of removing that and tying the leader loop knot directly to the lure ?? tia
@@PelagicPursuit89 Hey Matty, I've seen in your other videos your advise tying to the solid ring for jigging assists, not the splitty. Any reason for tying to the split ring? Does the residual paint on the lure itself cause issues if you were to remove the split ring?
very interesting lure, Matty. Just a minor thing, I wonder if you meant to refer to 'lumo' rather than 'UV'? It looked like parts of the two lures were glowing in the dark. If they stay glowing when the light goes out, it's lumo...
Color diminishes very very quickly even after just a few feet. At 50 meters absolutely everything at that depth , no matter what color it is on the surface , is shades of grey and blue. Everything looks the same color. However , the fluorescent idea is pretty novel when fishing in water that depth , especially during the day not so much at night. Reason is , when you bring the lure in to the sunlight , it charges the lure up and then back to the depth it goes. Once its down there , it will fluoresce and give off a slightly more noticeable shine and it will stand out. It becomes a quick target but it also does not look intimidating because some sunlight does reach that far. I have a feeling at night , it will cast off way to much light and it will be intimidating for any fish but squid and very aggressive animals like that will be attracted to it and will swarm it probably. Red is the very first color that drops off very soon after it hits shallow depths. Its a good reason to use red line when fishing for fish that are in ten foot or greater depths. I think yellow is next , then blue. These are the primary colors. Hense why everything is some color of blue once ya get to 40 feet or greater. White shows up very well at very great depths because white is the lack of all color. So combinations of white , with fluorescence in patterns will work best probably.
@@PelagicPursuit89 Oh and to add to this , the fluorescence given off the lure will show a variation of the color surrounding it. However probably not something that fish will react on more than the fluorescence itself. I'm a diver so we learned about light penetration at various depths.
@@Obxhatman whats also something to consider is different animals and insects see things very differently ... Im not saying fish dont see colour the same as we do .. Im saying do you or anyone else know how fish see colours ? Because they can obviously see in what we would see pitch black .. even my dog can see way way better then me at night ... So ...yer ?
@@mattspooner9001 Well , since you bring it up , yes , fish have great night vision , some fish or sea creatures better than others. mantis Shrimp have the best eyesight on the planet , with 16 cones. Humans have three. Most fish are presumed to have 3 to 4 cones. Red Blue Green. The fourth cone is usually Ultraviolet. So yes , most fish see color some only shades of grey and the ones that see ultraviolet may be able to see different color lines deeper than humans but overall , they generally have the same sort of vision we have. They can gather light better than humans for two reasons , one , they have a better retina than we have and more photoreceptors. Two , the water is a magnifier of all things , including light. So what light does penetrate the surface , which is where you lose most of the light due to refraction, it gets much brighter to them at depth than us. Anyhow , just food for thought.
