7:52 FALSE, Darkseid ain't the strongest opponent Superman ever done fought that actually goes to The Main Man Superman's ONLY equal when comes to strength!
I was always a fan of Metallo. It’s a shame they haven’t done a live action version of Metallo in a Superman movie. If we ever do get a proper sequel to Man of Steel, I’d love to see Metallo go toe to toe with Superman. There’s so much they could do with the character.
Agreed. When written badly he is just a silly villain but when written well he becomes one Superman's most sympathetic and misunderstood villains. The best exemple of this is in a story written by Roger Stern, where Toyman kidnaped the children of the CEOs of Lexcorp, the company who ruined his life. However, as Superman tracks him down it's revealed that he didn't harm the kids, instead he allows them to live happly in his wonderland hideout and play with his inventions , given them the attention they lack from their negligent parents.
@@samuelwilliams1619 Almost, since, in the silver age Superman did have a obscure villain named Master Jailer, whose backstory is that he was one of Clark's old classmates in Smallville and became a villain after being rejected by Lana Lang. He fits more the role of Superman's Mad Hatter. Toyman is more Superman's Mr Freeze, this misunderstood and sympathetic villain.
Good list. I don’t necessarily agree with all the choices, but good nonetheless. My list: Honorable mentions: Ultra-Humanite, Master Jailer, Puzzler (Valarie Van Haaften), Funnyface, Bruno Mannheim, The Elite, Cyborg Superman, Atomic Skull, Doomsday 10. Silver Banshee-A very unique and interesting member of the Superman rogues gallery. 9. Prankster-My personal favorite version is the distraction-for-hire Prankster, since it felt the most creative and best tailored version of the character to Superman’s rogues gallery. 8. General Zod 7. Metallo 6. Bizarro-He’s a hilarious character for how stupid he is, but that stupidity also adds tragedy to the character. He’s an all-around great character. 5. Mr. Mxyzptlk 4. Lex Luthor-I know someone just disliked this comment. Listen, just because he’s at number four doesn’t mean I hate him or that I think he doesn’t deserve his spot as Superman’s arch nemesis. Much like Joker, I understand why, and do believe he should have that title. But also like Joker, I am kinda tired of him showing up everywhere, and there are just a few that I prefer more. 3. Parasite (Raymond Jenson or Joshua Allen, whichever, as long as it isn’t Rudy Jones) 2. Toyman (classic Winslow Schott ONLY) 1. Brainiac-His history is nonsensical, but his potential knows no bounds. “But wait”, you shout at the top of your lungs. “Why no Darkseid or Doomsday you blasphemer?” Well, I’ve said before that I consider Darkseid to be a Justice League villain, not really a Superman villain. As for Doomsday... eh? I like his origin, and he’s got a cool design, but as an actual character he’s kinda bland. Man, Superman has a really great rogues gallery. I find it hard to believe that people say that his rogues gallery is bad.
It was supposed to be out earlier - I had it done, but had no time to upload it due to my busy hours at work. That's why it came out at a weird time. I just uploaded it when I could haha
Just like with The Incredible Hulk, I believe Superman's rogues gallery is underrated, and I couldn't even make a top ten list. Maybe a top twenty. But even then it would be hard to pick which villains to put on the list. People complain about how "boring" and overpowered Superman is, but they most likely have never seen how Superman is actually challenged. Not just physically (which I thoroughly enjoy), but also mentally and emotionally. These villains definitely prove why Superman is one of the greatest, if not The Greatest, superhero of all time.
The problem with Superman rogues gallery is that they lack a certain theme and connection with the hero to make them interesting. The batman rogues, for exemple, are usually insane criminal who are traumatized by some tragic incident in their backstory, just like Batman; The Spider man villains are usually people (most of the times close to Peter or Spider man) who suffer a accident with science experiment, gaining powers and choosing to become villains instead of accepting the responsabilities that comes with the powers. The Superman rogues gallery are defined more for their powers but not for their personalities. The only exception are Lex Luthor, Zod and Manchester Black, because represent a counterpoint to Superman as they are all men with great power and see themselves as "heroes", but lack moral and use questionable methods to achive their goals.
@@alexandrefrauches132 I disagree. There are certain themes that connect the Superman rogues to Clark. John Corbin was once human but became a literal man of of steel, but lost his humanity and PARASITE can steal the powers of others and abuse them for his own selfish gain, and Brainiac is an alien who rejects human emotions to pursue his selfish desires The problem is most writers are too fucking lazy to explore the psychological and emotional sides of these villains. They rather write a dozen Joker stories because he is cool and popular. If one bloody writer would just explore the rogues of metropolis they would be as popular if not more popular than the bat rogues.
I agree with your number one. My second favorite is, Mr. Mixspitlick. I’m curious to know, what did you think of Gilbert Godfrey‘s betrayal of him, from the animated series? That was my favorite episode.
I find Gottfried to be very loud and annoying in most things he does lol. But it works for his animated performances. Mr. Mxyzptlk especially. One of my favourite villains from the animated series. He was funny and I think sympathetic at times too. I haven't watched the show in its entirety in a while. Waiting for that blu ray release haha
Nice list, my Top 10 would be 10 Master Jailer 9 Metallo 8 Mxyzptlk 7 Brainiac 6 Erradicator 5 Parasite 4Toyman 3 Bizarro 2 Lex Luthor 1 Manchester Black
@@samuelwilliams1619 Thank you. While Lex Luthor may be the most iconic Superman villain, I think Manchester Black works better to be Superman greatest villain, since he not only smart and manipulative as Luthor but he challenges Superman in a ideological level attacking him through his friends and loved ones (he turned the whole world against Superman, he made the hero think he had killed Lois and even used Clark's own son against him), tempting Clark to break his values. It's a true rivalry of optimism vs cynicism.
The villains I would love to see in a Superman trilogy: 1st movie - Parasite and Lex Luthor 2nd movie - Brainiac and Mongul 3rd movie - Master Jailer and the Superman Revenge Squad (Metallo, Parasite, Atomic Skull, Puzzler and Toyman)
@@flintlockwood25 obscure and underrated it's pretty much the description of most of Superman rogues sadly. I think Master Jailer is very interesting, working as Superman's mad hatter, a villain obsess over his first love, Lana Lang, which helps to create a good parallell between the two: They both love the same girl but, while Clark was able to move on and find a new love in Lois, Master Jailer refused to give up. I wish modern explore this concept with this underrated villain.
Cool list here are my favorite Superman villains. 10th. Livewire I wanted to put Ultra-Humanite or better yet Manchester Black but I highly know much about him so I decided to go with another one for now and that is Livewire. I like this villain because like Harley Quinn she appear in the Superman animated series back in the day, she is a radio talk show host who has a hatred tours Superman and during a rock concert that she did during a storm she got hit by lightning and because of that she has become Livewire and she became one of Superman's enemies. I'm more surprise that she and Volcana never team up because even thought she was in an island she left during the Justice League cartoons so I'm quite surprise those two who were made for the show never team up and Livewire appear in comics while Volcana hasn't appear in comics yet. 9th. Metallo A cyborg who is fused with Kryptonite Superman's greatest weakness. I remember this guy appear in the animated series and I even thought that the corrupted cop from Smallville was going to be Metallo since he knows Clark's identity. I do like this villain because he is indeed a walking Kryptonite and Superman can die from that. Metallo does look like a Terminator and an interesting fact is that there was a Superman/Terminator crossover I'm surprise that Metallo never appear would make sense for him to play a role in that story. If there was an Arkham style Superman game then Metallo's boss battle should be more like the Mr. Freeze boss battle. 8th. Parasite A pink monster villain that can absorb anyone he touches and even take there powers. He has absorb Superman's powers at times but I remember in the cartoon Superman beat him with Kryptonite and I even got a jumpscare when Parasite jump on Superman when he return to his apartment, it was something that I didn't suspect would happen I mean it was obvious he was there but I was thinking he was going to appear behind Clark but him jumping like that gave me a jumpscare he just came out of nowhere. 7th. Toyman I remember seeing this villain in the animated series. One thing I love about the Toyman in the animated series is that as much as he is indeed a gimmick villain in the comics but in the show he was indeed dark and the way he looks he kind a looks like he belongs in Batman the Animated Series I still remember that doll mask he wears and I do wish that was used a lot in other medias. I always said that if he had appear in an Arkham style Superman game then he should be like his animated series self and maybe for his Arkham Knight style Superman game have him look like something out of Five Night's at Freddy's with his mask being broken and scary. 6th. Cyborg Superman At first I didn't want to included him because I didn't know much about him but thanks to the Reign of the Supermen review I got to know him and even a bit from the Sinestro Corps War. I do wish this villain appear in the animated series but sadly didn't appear at all I understand that Manchester Black didn't appear in that show because he appear in the 2000s but I'm more surprise now that he never appear in the Justice League cartoons. I will say this but if the My Adventures with Superman cartoon succeed then I hope to see Cyborg Superman and Manchester Black in the show or maybe a comic book sequel to Superman the Animated Series similar to Batman the Adventures Continue comic series. 5th. General Zod I only knew him from both Superman the movie 2 and the Man of Steel, the animated series used Jax-Ur instead of General Zod but he is supposedly a cross between Jax-Ur and Zod but I prefer General Zod instead. I didn't like the idea of him getting kill by Superman in the movie I feel that Zack Synder should have kept him alive I mean the way he was in the movie he was doing this for the safety of his people and I feel that in the sequel in a Phase 2 story he could become an antihero maybe becoming the Loki of the DCEU but as usual Zack Synder continues to rush and compete with the MCU. 4th. Doomsday I knew him from the Justice League cartoon. I know there has been a lot of adaptation of the Death of Superman but never been done well I never like Batman V Superman because the death of Superman was a bit rush even showing a retired alcohol Batman too. Too me personality I would have Superman die in a third sequel in maybe Phase 3 or something instead of phase 1 because we hardly got to know him and the reason why Iron Man's death was sad was because we journey with him and the Avengers since Phase 1 so it make sense for that to be sad but Superman we barely got to know him. 3rd. Darkseid I remember seeing Darkseid in Superman the Animated Series back when I was a kid. He is also an enemy of the New Gods, my favorite version of Darkseid is the one from the animated series because I grew up with that version and the voice actor Michael Ironside will always be my favorite Darkseid actor and voice actor because whenever I read a story with Darkseid in it that voice is what comes into my mind whenever I get to Darkseid's dialogue. I also one time said that Darkseid would be an excellent Thor villain just imagine a battle between these two god like beings Darkseid would be one of Thor's most powerful enemies if he was a villain to him and I even said that Darkseid would make a great Dragonball Z villain just imagine Goku and Darkseid battling each other it would be epic plus I was disappointed that Darkseid wasn't the main antagonist in the RWBY/Justice League crossover I would have like to see Darkseid teaming up with Salem but it didn't happen. 2nd. Brainiac I first saw him in the Static Shock/Justice League crossover episode and I even think he was a Superman villain and I was right. He is mostly view as the one responsible for the destruction of Krypton even stealing Kandor. I did say that if Man of Steel 2 had happen then Brainiac would fit perfectly to be the main antagonist and it would be cool to see a post credit sense with Lex Luthor using Brainiac's ship as the new based for the Legion of Doom, I hope he can be a good villain in the Suicide Squad kills the Justice League game. Honorable Mention: Wicked Warlock or just the Warlock He is mainly a villain that appear in the retro cartoons of Superman call the new adventures of Superman. He is this warlock with a ruby that summons magic and has been a recurrent villain in the show and unlike Mr. Mxyzptlk who has cosmic magic Warlock has magic from Earth. I do wish he appear in the comics because I really would imagine him being one of Superman's main enemies I mean they can do somethings with him either make him a gimmick villain or making him like Voldemort or Emperor Belos from the Owl House. Plus I wouldn't be surprise if he shows up in My Adventures with Superman cartoon because since Lois and Jimmy looks like Luz and Guz from Owl House just imagine him appear in the show, I even said that if there was a Superman/Owl House crossover Warlock should be the villain of the story and have him teaming up with Belos. 1st. Lex Luthor The archenemy of Superman. He is one of the best DC villains to existed, I remember seeing him in the animated series plus other versions like in Superman the movie. I do wish that there was an expansion of the Arkhamverse because in Arkham Knight Lex Luthor made a voice mail to Bruce Wayne and it would be cool to see a Superman game in the Arkhamverse I wouldn't mind seeing a similar story with Luthor involving Joker's death because in the Justice League cartoon Luthor got diagnose with cancer because of him being too expose to Kryptonite so I wouldn't mind in a Superman game to have that kind a story similar to Joker being poising. I never like the DCEU version of him I mean I never like the Synderverse at all it's just too dark and gritty plus a lot of rushing, I prefer the one from Smallvile the actor there did a good job on the character but my favorite version is the Clancy Brown Lex Luthor because in my opinion he is the best and whenever I read a Superman comic or a DC comic I get Clancy Brown's voice in Lex Luthor's dialogues. I have other favorites like Mongul, Bizarro still remember calling him zombie Superman when I was a kid and even Silver Banshee but I went with these villains instead. I do hope that new Superman cartoon can be good because I been wanting a new Superman cartoon for decades so let's hope it can be a great cartoon.
I agree with the selection. The order not so much. I would have put lex at three, the darkseid at 2 and Brainiac at 1. But that’s just me. Nice list though! I look forward to more Superman content in the future. 👍🍻
It’s interesting that your first pick was Manchester Black. You should check on the new miniseries, Superman and the authority by Grant Morrison. It evolves Superman and Black’s relationship significantly.
I have only read the 'What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and The American Way?' story and the one where he targets Job Kent. But from what I've read of Manchester Black, I've loved the character. Maybe I check that Morrison stuff out.
@@ChannelNerdgasm I recommend you also check Geoff Johns Ending Battle. It's basically Superman's equivalent of "Batman's hush", with Superman having to fight against all his enemies who are targeting people close to Clark Kent. Manchester Black also plays a big role in this conflict.
Same, specially if it takes inspiration from the DCAU version, where Braniac is actually a A.I created by Jor El and was the one who prevent the kriptonians from knowing about Kripton's upcoming destruction, which would make his rivalry with Superman much more personal.
@@samuelwilliams1619 Is the biggest crime the fact Brainiac never show up in the movies or the fact that WB has no idea what to do with Superman and his cast in the movies?
@@srstriker6420 I never said Brainiac would be responsible for Krypton's destruction, he would be responsible for preventing the kriptonians from noticing the planet core's instability until it was too late. Before the planet blows up he would escape, leaving the rest kriptonians to die in the explosion

Honorable Mention: Wicked Warlock or just the Warlock
He is mainly a villain that appear in the retro cartoons of Superman call the new adventures of Superman.
1st. Lex Luthor
The archenemy of Superman.
Nice list and reasonings :)
@@ChannelNerdgasm thanks glad you like it.
I agree with the selection. The order not so much. I would have put lex at three, the darkseid at 2 and Brainiac at 1. But that’s just me. Nice list though! I look forward to more Superman content in the future. 👍🍻
I hope to get to some more comic and game reviews eventually. Good and bad lol
Yo Channel Nerdgasm this is a completely unrelated topic but have you heard of a channel called Rackaracka?
My favorite Superman villain is parasite I love how he just drained their enemy's power and use it on them it's cool 😃👍
@@samuelwilliams1619 true 😂
He's one if my favourite villains in the animated series. If I based this list off the show, he'd of been higher (and featured lol)
I wish we could have Brainiac in a movie
Same, specially if it takes inspiration from the DCAU version, where Braniac is actually a A.I created by Jor El and was the one who prevent the kriptonians from knowing about Kripton's upcoming destruction, which would make his rivalry with Superman much more personal.
@@samuelwilliams1619 Is the biggest crime the fact Brainiac never show up in the movies or the fact that WB has no idea what to do with Superman and his cast in the movies?
@@alexandrefrauches132 no because in Man of Steel the planet’s core was unstable that’s what destroyed Krypton
@@srstriker6420 I never said Brainiac would be responsible for Krypton's destruction, he would be responsible for preventing the kriptonians from noticing the planet core's instability until it was too late. Before the planet blows up he would escape, leaving the rest kriptonians to die in the explosion
@@alexandrefrauches132 oh right, but brainiac wasn’t in the first draft of Man of Steel now was he?

Very unique list, even if 1 is a tad questionable
@@flintlockwood25 well yeah, but hey Doomsday is the one who faces Superman on a physical level, both are evenly matched at times, and sometimes Kal-El needs to find ways to get rid of Doomsday, like sending him to the end of time for example

Superman is my DC superhero!
I'm not a Superman Fan, I havent' read a lot of his comics, I'm Batman's No.1 Fan/his Biggest Fanboy but I do adore Christopher Reeve's Superman and Superman 1 & 2, and I do like Henry Cavill, I like Superman's Villains more, here's Mine:
10. Cyborg Superman (Hank Henshaw)

8. Lobo
7. Doomsday
6. Bizarro
5. Metallo
4. Darksied

2. Lex Luthor (yes he's Superman's Archenemy, but I feel like he gets utilized way too much in Live Action Films)
1. General Zod (Terence Stamp's Zod made me love General Zod, I do think it would have been better as Superman's Archenemy instead of Lex Luthor, sometimes I wish that)
Honourable Mentions: Toyman, Parasite (Rudy Jones), Livewire, Atomic Skull, Bloodsport, Ultra Humanite, Silver Banshee
I probably would have put on the list Ultraman,Metallo, black Adam and parasite!
If the list were bigger, Metallo and Parasite would have definitely made it on

How are they all of a sudden made possible by your patreons? You've been making theese for free, for years now. What happend? You got greedy my man?
Not greed at all lol. But after 6/7 years of making online videos, support through Patreon and monetization helps me with the video production process. A lot of time and resources go into making a lot of this content. As the years have progressed, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain this channel. Especially by myself. One day I might have to stop entirely. It will just be too unrealistic for me to continue. Being a Patron is optional. I don't force anyone lol
