Andrew is my brother and I just love how gracious and generous he is when he’s talking to others about plants. He’s also has the perfect personality for garden tours…not just in his own garden but any garden. Before I had any interest in gardening or the outdoors at all, I memorized the names of three plants in my mom’s garden:Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigra’, so I could play a joke on my brother, by astounding him with my plant identification, when he came to visit my mom. As we looked at my mom’s garden, I identified those three plants. Andrew, because he is, as I said gracious and generous, went on as it was the most normal thing ever that I knew these plants now. He just believes in any garden or gardener no matter how humble, and meets them where they are, with the same enthusiasm he has for the most experienced gardeners and the most significant gardens in the world. I’m am super impressed with Summer’s knowledge of plants, because Andrew has some unusual things in his garden. This is such a lovely video and the garden looks amazing. I agree with a previous comment that you should do more of these! ❤️ Sorry this is so long!
A true garden, with trees, space, and comfort. I bet everyone wishes they owned a garden like this. For nature lovers, there is no place like this garden.
Andrew Bunting has created a painting-like oasis. I saw a Monet, along the way. It lends to thoughts like.. the World is a beautiful place. Mother Earth and Mother Nature are mighty, with ferocious, merciless force. They should be the only 'World Leaders' with whom we need to have diplomatic relations. Mr. Bunting is apparently, a skilled diplomat.
Thank goodness, a channel that uses the correct botanical name for plants, rather than just the common U.S. name. I'm in the U.K. and find we often use different common names so sticking to the international botanical plant language of Latin makes much more sense.
This have to be one of my favorite gardens tour of this year. This garden have so much character and stories to tell. Love you to do a home garden more often vs botanical gardens. Something about a house garden is that you can really see the person who created the garden and the love that they put into the garden. Thank you for sharing this and can’t wait to keep seeing what you are doing for your own space. Happy early thanksgiving everyone!! ❤️
Oh my, this was so lovely. I was saving this until today, actually, because it is now very cold here, with 5 inches of snow on the ground. I enjoy listening to you guys nerd out on plant names being a scientist myself.
What a garden. 1/3 looks like just the right amount, me, myself and I are on 2 acres, at 65 that's at least 1 acre too many 😊 I'm on the shore in Maryland..7b..I have black and blue, it grows to a small bush, the stems are black, it loves the sun as well. How could anyone say no thanks to an offer of doing all the work, while you get to enjoy the benefits, how nice is that. Would be great if Mr Bunting shares photos with you, of the new redo of the secret garden.
Have had this video saved in my Watch Later folder for a while, so glad I finally watched it while I'm currently buying and planting perennial shrubs! I will be giving everything a wide birth of space based on full size dimensions. Truly an inspirational garden
I'm on a small suburban lot (8,000 sq feet), so Im obsessed with small fruits, vegetable and pollinators. It is so nice to see a lush woodland garden, it reawakens my imagination.❤
I started watching this tour, got called off and it disappeared, but it already captured me so much that I had to keep looking until I found it again. Wonderful tour! I'm saving this, because there were so many plants that I loved! Thank you!
What a fabulous garden! I noted down several plants I would love to add to my 1/3 acre garden...now I will have to hunt them down. I am a novice gardener and appreciate the knowledge you both shared about this garden. You both have such a lovely manner about you, I have to see more:)
Summer please come see Shedel Gardens in Elmore Ohio, the biggest week in birding is coming up, and spring is the best time of the year to come swamp tromp see some bird natives ... our oak Savannah in oak openings... the zoo our metroparks and marshes are amazing Omg his extra garden needs to be reborn into a Labyrinth with knot gardens!!!! His space is amazing
Absolutely beautiful gardens! I love the woodsy aspect of it and the hidden secret gardens are so charming. The plant selections are very interesting. This video is saved as one of my favorites. Thank you Andrew and Summer for the tour! 😄
Gordlinia which is a cross between Gordonia and Franklinia is a magnificent small evergreen tree whose foliage turns is rose gold in autumn when the sun shines through it. Just stunning! It has larger white flowers than either Gordonia and Franklinia.
What a fabulous tour. Garden and knowledgeable horticulturist. Thank you for taking the time to share this. I've subscribed as a new channel myself I look forward to watching your back catalogue.
Nice garden. This horticulturist is more interested in Exotic plants. He is more like a plants collector. It will be interesting to see if he will consider put more native plants….Thanks for ur sharing. Appreciated that u are so knowledgeable about lots of the plants..
Loved the look of the Lespedeza shrub but I thought this was an invasive species. Is the cultivar in this garden different from the ones that are considered invasive?
Beautiful! It looks so.much larger then 1/3 acre! Good to pull down that virginia creeper. My neighbor had it growing on the fence that separates our properties, and it literally spread and took my over my whole garden (over 1/2 acre) soooo invasive. It strangled my beautiful privets to death too :(
Hello from the West Coast of Sweden!🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 How surprising to hear you are naming Gothenburg botanical Garden or "Göteborgs Botaniska" as we call it in Swedish... It is a favorite garden of mine and I only live 45 min drive, on the Highroad, south from Gothenburg so I am visiting several times a year! Its a wonderful Garden with many different habitats!!!! Really love it!🤗💖
Interesting that he actually planted Sugi, living in Japan id never dream of it, have a few I'm planning to remove. Beautiful trees but after 17 years I'm allergic to the pollen now, most people in Japan consider them kind of a pest now.
So many exotic species, hopefully non invasive (tho I heard Asian vine and lespedeza and I couldn’t imagine how they wouldn’t be invasive); nonetheless it is pretty for the human eye. Hopefully it provides for nature just as much
I wish that deer and rabbits in our area would not be interested in euphorbia and fragrant plants. They seem so desperate for any food that they eat our euphorbia, forsythia, sedum, etc., but also eat our peony flowers if we're not careful.

Loved his personality through the video. Demystifying the vines on the facade, showing it doest damage maconry, sure is generous oh him

I've known Andrew for 25 years, he is the consummate plantsman and an all around fantastic guy!
Is this on Long Island?

Wonderful tour! Your brains are like an encyclopedia that you quickly flick through with names of the plants
Andrew B. Is the best! I miss him every day at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Loved getting a tour❤
I had an area so dry in shade under red cedar. After several years of placing fallen leaves there it is rich and beautiful soil.
Andrew is as lovely as his gardens❤️
I enjoyed this tour so much. He has a great yard and A very welcoming down to earth way of speaking and making you comfortable. Thank you

Beautiful garden. Thank you for sharing as always

This was great advice and I so much appreciate your video. Thank you!
Haas Halo was studied by Mount Cuba Center and indeed their research determined it to be the best pollinator and native hydrangea.
Looks like a terrific plant
I successfully propagated tip cuttings of Hot Lips Sage. I will keep the in the greenhouse over winter and increase my stock in spring
wonderful "home garden tour" Thank you Summer :)
My cousin, David G. Fairchilds has a botanical garden named for him. I have the leatherleaf mahonia and it gets huge.

Great house, am jealous over here with my one pot plant, In the harsh Australian weather.
Beautiful garden! I love kaki! Yeah, it's the natural tannins in it that can tenderize your tongue and mouth. 😋
Man. I really wish I didn't live in zone 4 on shallow karst geography! This garden arden is so lush.❤
wait a min , are colocasia deer resistant ?
Interesting that he actually planted Sugi, living in Japan id never dream of it, have a few I'm planning to remove. Beautiful trees but after 17 years I'm allergic to the pollen now, most people in Japan consider them kind of a pest now.
Thank you #SaveSoil #Consciousplanet
Great video!
So is this a mix of native and non-native plants?
I would love to know how old the goshiki osmanthus is.

ah! please tell him chicken wire is not sufficient for the coop and run! Please use 1/4 hardware cloth for predator proofing.
Always restful
Wish you could have just let the home owner lead the tour and talk , his garden tour.

Horrible introduction. Why not just introduce Andrew Bunting and let him speak immediately. Andrew was a wealth of information.
