Cars 2 Movie Description:
Cars 2 is a 2011 American animated spy comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is the sequel to Cars (2006), the second film in the Cars franchise, and the 12th animated film from the studio. The film was directed by John Lasseter (in his final outing as director of a Pixar film to date), co-directed by Brad Lewis, produced by Denise Ream, and written by Ben Queen, Lasseter, Lewis, and Dan Fogelman. In the film's ensemble voice cast, Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Tony Shalhoub, Guido Quaroni, Bonnie Hunt, and John Ratzenberger reprise their roles from the first film. George Carlin, who previously voiced Fillmore, died in 2008, and his role was passed to Lloyd Sherr. They are joined by newcomers Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, John Turturro, Eddie Izzard, and Thomas Kretschmann. In the film, Lightning McQueen and Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix which promotes a new alternative fuel called Allinol, but Mater accidentally becomes involved in international espionage that could determine both his and Lightning's fate.
Cars 2 was first announced in April 2008 with a tentative 2012 release date, making Cars the second Pixar film to spawn a sequel after Toy Story (1995), as well as becoming a franchise. Lasseter was confirmed to be returning as director, while Lewis was designated as co-director in June 2010. The film's story was conceived by Lasseter while he was traveling around the world promoting the first film. Michael Giacchino composed the film's score, with artists such as Weezer, Robbie Williams, Brad Paisley and Bénabar contributing tracks for the film. This was the final Pixar film animated with their old software system, Marionette, before being officially replaced with Presto in 2012. With an estimated budget of $200 million, Cars 2 is one of the most expensive films ever made.
Cars 2 premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on June 18, 2011, and was released in the United States on June 24, in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D as well as traditional two-dimensional and IMAX formats. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Cars 2 continued Pixar's streak of box office success, grossing over $559 million worldwide, becoming the tenth-highest-grossing film of 2011 and the highest-grossing film of the Cars trilogy. The film was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 69th Golden Globe Awards, but lost to The Adventures of Tintin. A sequel, Cars 3, was released on June 16, 2017.

It's basically a movie length version of an episode of 'Mater's Tall Tales' - short series that was released after Cars 1 where Mater starts telling Lightning McQueen about when he was a wrestler, met an alien, time travelled, etc, at some point Lightning either asks 'well what happened next?' or 'do you really expect me to believe that' for Mater to reply 'Don't you remember?' or 'Well you should' because 'You was there too!' and then we see that Lightning was there the whole time as well

This is my favorite Pixar movie but I feel like they could have just did the spy plot a bit better like I wanted the world Grand Prix to be a normal tournament without all of the spy plot intertwined with it and the spy plot on the separate side

Yeah, I was expecting a good movie, but it really subverted my expectations.
Axelrod is an oil tycoon, he found a massive oil field and was concerned its value would drop because the world is moving away from oil in favour of renewable fuels. So he created a renewable fuel with the intent of tearing it down so people would never trust renewable fuels again and his oil would remain valuable.

It's almost like the movie's plot isn't very complex.
Actually, it wasn't really an alternative fuel. It isn't shown in this video, but Allinol was actually gasoline. He only claimed it was an alternative fuel for the scheme.

The voice actor and inspiration for Doc Hudson, Paul Newman, had passed away due to lung cancer after the first movie, so they made doc pass away in a similar way to memorialize him in this movie.

I used to love this movie so much as a kid. That opinion has changed now, but I don't hate it like a lot of people, I feel it's okay. One thing about it I still love is Francesco Bernoulli. He's hilarious, a great rival, and during the London race, says exactly what we're all thinking. "WHAT IS HAPPENING!?"

4:51 There’s a deleted scene in Cars 3 that’s never been seen by the public that shows that McQueen and Doc were having a race and Doc crashed during it and died. The reason they scrapped it was because it was too sad and there was many other factors like Owen Wilson’s attempted suicide years before that so they thought maybe it would’ve brought back bad memories

(Un)Popular opinion: Francesco is the best rival out of all three of McQueen's rivals. Chick Hicks would deliberately ram his opponents off the track and cause huge crashes, Jackson Storm would demoralize his opponents and make them feel like they aren't good enough. Sure, Francesco was a little cocky but unlike Hicks and Storm, Francesco actually played fair.
The car with the gap in his teeth is voiced by Lewis Hamilton who…has a gap in his teeth 😂. Great vid as always Mell🙏🏼
In different parts of the world other famous drivers have their car also in that scene. Like in Germany it's Sebastian Vettel. In Spain it's Fernando Alonso and so on. Even Jeff Gordon I believe is in the USA version.

A good deal of the negative reviews are because those people thought the movie "too political". Being how the villain can be considered the oil company against alternative fuels. Basically people wanting to whine about the "left wings" and decide the best place to do it is a review for cars 2.

I doubt it is the majority of negative reviews, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pushed this into "the worst" category when it really doesn't deserve it. Mostly people did complain about the conflicting story branches between the spy stuff and the racing stuff. I didn't mind that as much since in the end it did merge.

I personally like this movie more than the first one, I completely understand why a lot of people didn’t like it due to how different it was from the first movie but for me that’s exactly why I liked it so much.

In all honesty, This is the Cars movie I have the most emotional connection to since at the time of the initial DVD release 13 years ago, My Grandma on my Dad's side gave me the movie for my birthday. Shortly after a few months later, She passed away. I still miss her. 😢 R.I.P Grandma

Mater saying "What's everyone on the wrong side of the road for?" in London WOULD have been a funny joke, but it doesn't make sense because Mater has already been to Tokyo earlier in the movie and Japan ALSO has left-side driving.
i like to think he was more frustrated/worried in the context of that scene so maybe that's why he chose to say it then
The Cars weave back and forth while pacing to keep their tires as warm as possible. The warmer their tires are the stickier they are and thus keep more grip, if they let their tires get too cold when they take off from the pace the tires could spin and then they lose momentum.
8:48 Been to Japan multiple times. You have to visit the tourist attractions, such as the temples, shrines, maybe even shibuya crossing or the hachiko statue. Or just simply take a walk and see the architecture. Discovering the food is always the highlight of course. If you could, try to time your trip during a festival at the area you intend to go to, and you can even rent yukatas/kimonos to wear to match the occasion. If you're an anime fan, you could also go to the iconic spots that were put in famous anime scenes (A personal favorite is one of the train crossings near Kamakura station, from the Slam Dunk opening). If you're comfortable with it, try going to an onsen! You might feel awkward at first but it's a fun and relaxing experience.

Ok yes there isnt much racing and its more spy like but i actually really like this movie! The animation is top notch and the european cities look so realistic!! My dad lived in europe for 5 years and he said its practically like walking down the streets in real life.
Cars 2 is definitely not the worst pixar movie. I've always enjoyed it and it's a fun film. The big issue, at least as far as the people I know, is that this movie is marketed as a direct sequel and it was really a mater side plot that has little to no tie ins to cars 1 or in cars 3. Bottom line is that it's out of place

Simple way to say, too much action packed and filled with lots of action kick fantasies made the movie suck, Cars 1 and Cars 3 has a fine and natural story line, more justice to the mainlead, it's all about racing life in US.
Cars 2 in my opinion is more like a Science fiction spy thriller film, just out of the world.

I liked Cars 2 once it came out when I was like 5 years old, but looking back as I’m older, I never got why they didn’t give us an update on McQueen’s racing career, I hated that they didn’t mention Doc except for a little snippet but then go heavy on Doc in Cars 3 which comes out 6 years later, a little late imo. But by itself it’s a decent movie but a terrible way to tear from the solid cars storyline/timeline. Cars 3 should have been Cars 2 and instead of Cars 3, make a prequel about how McQueen got his start in racing, they made a whole comic/book about it so show us that in more detail, show us how he got his first career win, his family, how he met mack, how he got rusteze as a sponsor. That could’ve been really good. But Cars 2 is decent by itself but is just a weird cutaway from the World of Cars because in Cars 3, nothing from cars 2 was ever mentioned because Pixar wanted to forget that movie. Now my favorite thing from Cars 2 were the racing scenes, the new cars, Francesco, and the engine sounds had me like…. 😩
Obviously Cars 3 is originally Cars 2, were in Cars 3, McQueen gets training to compete with a fellow American on the other hand, in Cars 2, he competes with international racers and travel across the world for races. It's pretty illogical.
I think Cars 2 should be viewed it's own film, That makes it so much better

Went to Japan last june, and had an amazing time. The best part for me personally was just going out to eat, options galore; especially in Tokyo when you can take a train basically anywhere.

It warms the tires up quicker, both front and rear for better traction for the first few turns and to prevent spinning from sudden acceleration at the green flags, once you gain speed and make all these turns the tires naturally heat themselves up but cools rapidly at slower speeds. My favourite thing to do in Tokyo whenever I go there, is visiting old districts. Away from the places where all the other tourists go.

Unlike George Carlins Filmore, Doc was a reference to the voice actors previous role in a really old racing movie. These movies are specifically PACKED with tiny little references like that. I just wish one of the ways Ramone was painted was like the up in smoke low rider 😂
You should check out the Disney Plus Series "Cars on the Road". It is basically a Mater backstory, where we visit his actual home, while on a roadtrip with lightning mcqueen. You should also check out Shrek 3 and Shrek 4!

I kind of missed Radiator Springs in this movie I remember when I went to Disneyland for gradnite once I saw Radiator Springs and the mountains they had it made me feel a little homesick since I am from New Mexico one of the states that has Route 66

Axlerod DID invent Allinol as an alternative to gas. But he found the oil in the ocean and instead wanted to cash in on that, so he tried to sabotage Allinol so people would go back to using regular gas.

But to your question of my favorite racing game: its Re-volt, a fun racing game with little toy cars on different tracks like a museum and with some luck you could get an ufo to be played. its so fun and similar to mario kart though its older? I am not sure but it was soooooo fun!
Cars 2 was me and my brother‘s favorite Pixar movie when we were little and we still love it even now that we’re older because we just love spy movies, so put the two together cars and spies and you got a brilliant amazing movie in my opinion that is!❤😊 😆😄😁🥰🏎️

Fun fact: the reason why nascars and track cars swerve side by side is to warm up the tires, the warmer the tires the more traction you have. Since during the beginning of the race their tires are cold so not much traction.
