CORRECTION: I mistakenly said that Andrew Stevens played the killer in 10 to Midnight, but it was actually Gene Davis. I’m sure you could tell from the video that I didn’t know the name, and looked it up in the moment. Unfortunately, I zeroed in on the wrong name. My apologies, and thanks to everyone that pointed this out.
10 to Midnight is so great. Gene Davis gives a fantastic portrayal of a true creep. On par with Wings Hauser in Vice Squad, another B-movie classic!
Btw you were thinking of Andrew Stevens in the The Seduction -- which is yet another great performance as a psychotic creep..
It is all good, bro. Man, i have been watching this movie since i was a kid. Always freaked me TF out.
He was Actor Brad Davis' from Midnight Express, Brother.
sorry man, agree to disagree, "enter the ninja" & "revenge of the ninja" are much better than ninja 3.
Death Wish 3 is crazy , Bronson just blasting away punks for 90 minutes
Doing society a favor.
We need him today
@@Veniceredmask01ok Trump. Get a life.
Death Wish 3 is awesome! So over the top kickass crazy!

Killer: “I’ll blow this whole place up!”
Cobra: “Go ahead. I don’t shop here.” 😂
When I found out that Runaway Train was a Cannon movie my jaw dropped. It is action, but has no sign of cheese, camp, and it's almost artsy, like 1993's Fugitive or a Michael Mann flick.
Wasn't Runaway Train up for an Oscar for Best Picture? I could be wrong.
@@sparksfan Eric Roberts and Jon Voight were nominated, I think that was it
👍
Barfly were another Cannon movie that weren't cheesy.
Not cheesy except for Voight's look and gold tooth.
..an aerobics instructor who is possessed by the spirit of an evil dead ninja.”
That’s the perfect introduction to a Cannon Films retrospective.
Love this so much! Last summer, my friends and I did a dusk to dawn Cannon marathon at a local theater. We started with Cyborg, finished with my personal favorite Cannon movie The Delta Force, and packed it with all of the bonkers Cannon goodness in between. Great video!!!
Delta Force rules!
Turning 3 in 1980, I was too young to see these films when they came out, but I do remember going to the video shop with my mum, where she would pick out some sort of action film, and I think everything on this list at some point!! Thank you for taking me back to those childhood days of being a small child in the video shop, with dozens of Chuck Norrisses looking down on me :)
wait... you mean that dozens of chuck norrisseses no longer look down upon you?? shit, i gotta ask my shrink about this. they're with me 24/7.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2- Maybe the best horror sequel movie ever. That and Evil Dead 2
Child's play had an amazing sequel as well
Critters 2 were great too.
Child’s play the seed of chuckie is my favourite! It makes me cry with laughter every time!
@@refuzed74 evil dead 2 is so overrated it makes me sick 🤣🤣
But see it really wasn't
10 to midnight is one of my faves and no one ever knows this film. Excellent list.
That movie is one of my 10 .I make everyone I know watch
Runaway Train was part of that short lived period where Golan and Globus backed either established or up and coming filmmakers and for the most part stayed out of the way as long as the films didn’t go over budget. They were “package” flicks, where theaters had to book them if they wanted to get the new Chuck Norris or the new Bronson. Other good ones from that era are “Barfly” and “That Championship Season.” Any studio besides Cannon puts out those two, and they’d have been award show darlings.
How can you talk about Cobra without mentioning what has to be the coolest car in all of cinema - Stallone’s 1950 Mercury!
F Yeah! Right up there with the hemi 'Cuda from Phantasm!
i'll take a certain delorean.
Hi Daniel! I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and wow, those Cannon movies were a wild ride. Couple of my favs from your list are Lifeforce and Blood Sport.
I (like most people) only like & watch Lifeforce just simply for the butt bare assed NAKED alien vampiric energy sucking space woman HERSELF & VIRTUALLY NOTHING ASS ELSE okay @grey_wulf.
LIFEFORCE is firkin amazeballs! A masterpiece of total insanity. One of the most underrated movies ever made. I'd add Missing in Action, Delta Force, 52 Pickup, Death Wish 3, Kickboxer, Murphy's law.
Lifeforce was also edited so the British version was different from the America version. Some scenes were in one but not the other. Not sure if they ever released a version with all the scenes in it.
Gene Davis was awesome as the serial killer in 10 to Midnight. He also had a great part in Cruising.
My fave is 52 Pick-Up with Roy Shieder. Other good ones are Barfly with Micky Rourke, Blood Sport, 10 to Midnight, and Masscre 2.
I still need to see 52 Pick-Up!
@cobwebschannel oh its great. Clearance William the 3rd plays one of the most convincing psycho thugs
Barfly is excellent.
It wouldn't be a great summer without discussing Cannon in all it's glory! Well done, sir. I kind of love them all! Grocery store terrorist: "Man, I'll blow this whole place up!" Cobra: "Go ahead...I don't shop here."
My new favorite movie channel. Rarely is someone so intelligent ALSO so positive. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Gonna try to watch all of the “lesser known 80s creature features” with my sons this summer. Already did (and loved) The Brain.
WOW Daniel!! You yanked so many fun memories out of me it’s unbelievable. Thanx for the memories!! Love your channel!!!
I watched Runaway Train in the 80’s. A classic Cannon production - very entertaining.
My top 3 are probably Bloodsport, The Last American Virgin, and Revenge of the Ninja. I agree that 10 to Midnight is better than any of the Death Wish films.
Solid top 3 💪🏼
Death Wish 3 is my jam! Seeing Charles Bronson gun down the punks with his .475 Wildey magnum hunting handgun is killer.
I don't know if Death Wish 3 or Death Wish 4 is more hilarious, but they're both friggin awesome!
I think one of the guys from Bill and Ted costarred as on the bad guys in one of the Deathwish sequels
@@davidjackson2524 Alex Winter was in Death Wish 3 as one of the punks.
In the Cobra movie, Sly's chief is played by the actor who played the serial killer in Dirty Harry.
Andy Robinson, hell yeah!
Yeah, and from Hellraiser!
@@cobwebschannel Sly hired Andy Robinson and Reni Santoni BECAUSE they were both in Dirty Harry
Great video. Cannon = cinematic gold.
Thanks!
Gene Davis played the serial killer in "10 to Midnight" not Andrew Stevens - he played the pretty boy cop partner
You’re right! I looked at the wrong name.
Andrew Stevens did however play an entertaining and wacky , obsessed stalker of a news reporter played by Morgan Fairchild, in 1982s guilty pleasure, and cable mainstay at the time The Seduction.
I saw 10 to Midnight because mostly because I like Andrew Stevens, and Lisa Eilbacher, who played Charles Bronson's daughter. And I found myself liking it, and really liking Charles Bronson as well. I think it's the first movie that I saw him in.
The poster art for TCM2 is a riff on The Breakfast Club
Read any other Wikipedia tidbits today or just that one?
Make any other stupid replies today or just that one?
@analiysanchez9949
Umm ...maybe he's just seen both movies. I have. I even like both of them, for very different reasons.
Shocker.
I loooooooooooooooooooooooove 10 to Midnight!
Cannon was a great combo of 80s, cocaine and a foreign idea of the U.S.A.
You're right about the Patrick Bateman comparison in 10 to Midnight. It's been decades since I saw the film (during its original theatrical release!), but after seeing your edits from it, I have to wonder if 10 to Midnight inspired both Ellis' novel and Harron's film.
10 to Midnight and Lifeforce two definite favorites, And now I have to watch Invasion USA because Richard Lynch was always great at playing the villain! Love your channel btw
Invasion USA just got a 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome.
As always what makes this channel so unique and essential is that Daniel goes the extra mile to cover films nobody else on RUclips does or even knows or cares about. In my 20’s in the 1980’s you would have never caught me seeing any Cannon product. I was such a film snob, but all was not lost as now I love seeing all this cheesy crud and it’s not even nostalgia driving it! I think it’s because unlike action movies made nowadays the Cannon balls from the 80’s are not so self-referential, they are just solid action movies without pretension or ass wipes from other movies the directors grew up watching on cable. THESE are those original movies that defined cable! It’s where it all started!
Great list, three I haven't seen but you've intrigued me to check em out
Awesome topic!!! Nothing says the 80s to me like Cannon & Wizard Video!!
Thanks for posting Daniel!!!
🤘🏻👴🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for checking it out!
From space mutants to Chuck Norris, Cannon was AMAZING in the 80s! It's so hard to narrow their filmography down to 15. I love this video though. Keep doing your thing, Cobweb!
Andrew Stevens didn't play the serial killer in 10 to Midnight.
Gene Davis is the killer.
Ahh, you’re right! I looked it up in the moment and zeroed in on the wrong name. Obviously I’m not very familiar with either of them. lol
@@cobwebschannel Andrew Stevens is the son of Stella Stevens (Poseiden Adventure) and also played a young mountie with Lee Marvin & Bronson in Death Hunt. :)
Now must see Dangerously Close.
Thank You for the List and Video 😀
I love Cobra, Masters of the Universe & TCM 2 ! xx
FANTASTIC list! I absolutely LOVE Cannon in high school, and during my Army service in 1980's, I would rent their films almost every weekend!
in 1989 my best friend at school had a huge collection of videos and me and another friend would 'bunk off' school and stay in his house watching them all day. It seems that most of these Cannon videos were in his collection. I guess they were a company making films for 80's kids. That Cobra cover always looked so cool to me.
Runaway train was an excellent movie when I first watched it. IDK if it aged well though.
I really like that harpsichord sting at the beginning of your videos.
Excellent list and super fun video Daniel!!
Thanks Andy!!
The ending of Runaway Train has to be one of the best every filmed with Voight standing on top of the train leaning into the wind.
Awesome list, love your top 5. I did a top 20 cannon films video, I wish I had included some of the films you have on your list.
Great list. Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo will always be my number one Cannon film.
My personal favorite from The Cannon Group is A Cry in the Dark (1988) with Meryl Streep and Sam Neill. It’s based on the true story of Lindy Chamberlain, whose baby was killled by a dingo in Australia and the injustice she and her husband Michael suffered until their ultimate acquittals.
Another excellent video. Thank you and great job.
Thank you!
Lifeforce is a film I grew up with starting at age 16 from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray! It was also my introduction to Tobe Hooper's work (RIP) before I saw his earlier movies.
Big props for including Dangerously Close
My Favorite was American Ninja 🥷 with Michael Dudikoff and Judie Aronson ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
While you couldn't pay me to watch most of these movies, I LOVE the way you love them so enthusiastically! That just tickles the hell out of me. You like what you like, right? The exceptions for me are, Runaway Train. Always loved that one. Same with Lifeforce. I have problems with TCM 2, but I think it's an important film, anyway. Good video.
AWESOME! Takes me back to my childhood....love Bloodsport! Hey by the way what's that mask in the background? Looks familiar but can't seem to point it out!!!! Help me out!
Kickboxer, Bloodsport, and Over The Top are my top 3 favorite Cannon films with a nostalgic honorable mention to Masters of the Universe.
This comment is going to date me. But I hadn't heard the name Michael Dudikoff for decades. And I could hear the sax from "Careless Whispers" when I did. I have not seen any of his movies. But I had a huge crush on him when he was doing the TV show "Cobra". For many years I avoided movies that I thought might be too violent. However, as the years have gone by, for better or for worse, I've toughened up when it comes to bloody violence. Listening to your reviews I think maybe it's time I become familiar with some of my old crush's movies from the '80s.
Recently discovered your channel and love what you are doing, keep them coming! Haven't seen any of these so plenty added for the watchlist! Except TCM2... I've tried to watch it twice and turned off both times. Love the original way too much.
TCM2 is a perfect sequel. Man you're cranking out the videos these days! Make sure you're following your own advice and enjoying yourself. Peace, love, and 10/10 fricheks
haha Thanks man! So far so good.
I love the Dudikoff
Runaway Train is one of the only Cannon films to be nominated for - and actually win - several Oscars.
Really enjoyed this!!!
I love Cannon films and I love your channel dude
Awesome list and awesome channel!
TCM2 is one of my favorite horror-comedies, partly because it's so batshit crazypants, partly because the entire cast goes for full contact and full commitment, and partly because it features one of the best soundtracks of its era: Concrete Blonde, the Cramps, Oingo Boingo, Timbuk 3, and more. When it comes to great "alternative music" 80s film soundtracks, only Repo Man exceeds TCM2.
Loved Cannon films. I’m lucky to have seen all these films you listed in the theatre back in the 80’s. The film GYMKATA feels like a cannon film, but it was MGM.
I will never forgive Joe Zito from moving to action films with Chuck Norris. He had the potential to be an excellent horror director, but he moved to mediocre action films (in my opinion).
It also makes me sad that Tobe Hooper’s Cannon movies were box office bombs, because they were probably the best canon films I’ve seen. Lifeforce and Invaders from Mars is great, and TCM 2 is pretty solid for what it is, although I don’t jive with the humor.
Eugene M. Davis played the killer in 10 to Midnight. Andrew Stevens played the other cop.
Death Wish 3?
Murphy's Law?
Runaway Train?
Superman 4
I LOVE 'em!
This a great list. LifeForce is my favorite of all, very solid story, and some of the special effects were top-notch for that time period.
Invasion USA is my Christmas movie, above Die Hard. Thanks for including this one! It’s time… please for a New Year’s Evil Watch party. My NYE jam!
Fun list! And yes I am one of those who love love loves Masters of the Universe 😂 and not shy about it ! But again we can always agree to disagree cause at least you mentioned American Ninja and Dangerously Close and Cyborg 😁 and you nailed a lot of the prime Cannon flicks too!
Fun fact about Ninja 3: Lucinda Dickey was cast for that film first, and then they put her in Breakin, not the other way around.
Best fight tournament movie is Enter the Dragon
Andrew Stevens played he luitenant to Bronson who was trying to date his daughter he was notr the bad guy, don't remember his name but this was an awesome film especially the ending with a standoff with Bronson and the bad guy Bronson had the best line and perfect shot.
Bloodsport is absolutely my favorite Van Damme movie and probably my favorite Cannon film. But Kickboxer gets high marks, too. That dance scene alone is worth the price of admission.
Cannon Films ruled. So many good times as a teen going to the theater with my buds.
Excellent Thumbnail
Excellent upload sir,
I was 10 when Bloodsport came out - and I remember my friends down the street rented it - and it completely blew our prepubescent minds apart. It was as if somebody cracked our heads opened and put every cool thing we wanted to see in a movie in this VHS tape. By the time they're glueing broken glass to their knuckles, I was on the verge of full black out due to the amount of awesomeness we were seeing. I spent a year legitimately training to do a full split after seeing this movie.
There is no broken glas on the knuckles in bloodsport but there is another van damme movie tho , kickboxer is the movie where they glue broken glas to their knuckles
I had to go back to the comments of this video to say : thank you ! I'm currently watching avenging force (wich was kind of hard to find because it is labeled as american ninja 2 in France) and I'm having a great time, very cool action movie.
I'm a big fan of your channel! You could be my long lost brother because we like so many of the same horror movies. I may have missed it, but have you seen 'Play Misty for Me?' It's pretty great.
I was born in the 90s but grew up with reruns of death wish series and missing in action. Of course Cobra is one of my favorite Stallone films and Bloodsport for Van Damme.
You almost had me with your number one. Runaway Train is one of the best fulns of all time, period. Voights monologue about the itty bitty spot is something everyone should hear.
I’ve never heard of Dangerously Close but now I need to watch it like yesterday!
That was a fun watch! My #1 has gotta be Barfly.
You were right that yes Runaway Train is the best movie made by Cannon, but you made it clear that this was really just a favorites list so you be you. I will say I was surprised that the best of the big stupid Cannon action movies The Delta Force wasn't here.
My mom worked at a video store for a while in the eighties. This shit gave me flashbacks. There was a big console television in the middle of the store with the vcr hooked up to it.And I would watch movies for her entire shift. I still have the Cyborg comic book that came with the vhs release
Definitely agree with your number one pic, bloodsport was my favorite movie when I was a kid, just recently picked up the 4K and if you’re that big of a fan of the movie, it’s well worth the upgrade
Last American Virgin has a savage ending that more movies should take notice of as it depicts real life a lot better than the fairy tale ending we are all used to seeing in Hollywood.
Runaway Train is legitimately, not just a great action movie, but a great film period. You rarely see an action film with three Oscar nominations. My other two favorites on this are 10 to Midnight and Invasion USA.
I´m glad Cyborg was on the list. I love that movie and my brother had a VHS copy in the late 80´s so it´s good memories.
I also love how the 80´s imagine the apocalypse/future with a dying planet/fantasy etc. You should do a second list because Cannon Group released so many movies. Another favourite for me is The Barbarians. My brother also had that movie on a VHS.
Avenging Force is my Fav
A+ video!
LOVE IT! Look like awesome movies!
I think lifeforce should have been number 1. Not only is it the craziest of the Cannon movies (which is not small feat), but it also kind of fits on a meta level. Cannon films did not have much commercial success, and even though they produced a ton of cult hits they just weren't making the money. Lifeforce is the perfect encapsulation of that.
I was 12 when "Cobra" came out, and I convinced my dad to take me to see it. I absolutely loved the opening supermarket shootout, and the cult serial killer aspect was creepy. I also went to see "King Solomon's Mines" back in the day, and it was a fun "Indiana Jones" ripoff. I also liked "Street Smart" from '87, starring the late Christopher Reeve and Morgan Freeman as a pretty scary villain.
The '50s and the '80s were the 2 best decades for B-movie goodness.
Great list!
Electric Boogaloo is an awesome documentary. It really nails who Golan and Globus were
Hero and the Terror with Chuck Norris is a total favorite! Not sure if Lonewolf McQuade is Cannon but I love that movie too!
I love Over the Top! You also have Kenny Loggins with the soundtrack! "Meet me halfway, across the sky"
"There is no 2nd place...2nd place is crap!!!"
Winner takes it all, loser takes the fall!!
"Winner takes it alllll loser takes a falll Fight to the beginning of the eeeend"
What a great list!!
Here is my list of fav. Canon Films.
1. Bloodsport
2. Delta Force
3. Kickboxer
4. Death Wish 2
5. Cobra
6. Invasion U.S.A.
7. Missing In Action 3
8. Death Wish 3
9. Over the Top
10. 10 to Midnight
Love so many on this list. And you introduced me to a few I need to see. Cobra...man, I remember catching that after ECW Wrestling on UPN in...1999? It started at midnight and I couldn't stop watching it. I immediately called my friends and told them all about it. That custom license plate "AWSUM50..." And Blood Sport is incredible. Definitely the best Cannon movie for me as well.
