    Will replace my Valvetronic & eccentric shaft sensor tomorrow on my E91, N46 BMW.
    Thanks for the video, doesn't look too complicated

    This engine seems a lot easier to work on compared to n52, so much more working room around the front, easy to see leaks as well

    great, short and very helpful video.
    You only forgot to add rtv silicone for better sealing and to mention using an equal amount of force (about 6lbs) on bolts as its a breakable ones.
    Thanks

      Ideally you want to start from the middle to outside. and go criss cross when you tight them up.
      Another tip (as one of the viewer suggest it in the comments) is to put some RTV silicone between the cover and the new gasket and leave it to set for about one hour. This will hold the gasket attached to the cover and will help you a lot when you fit it back on the car.

      @@lsateam1491 so I've seen other videos where they put that sealent on all the corners of those horse shoe cut outs, are you saying that I should put a small amount there and leave it for an hour before I replace the cover or replace the cover straight away on top of the fresh sealent but then leave it an hour before i start the car? Thanks for the replys

    • @lsateam1491
      @lsateam1491  4 года назад +1

      john armstrong
      Put the sealant then immediate put the gasket and leave it to dry. That way the sealant will hold the gasket in place.

      I don’t know exactly what do you mean.
      If you are talking about the rocker cover gasket then is obvious, you’ll see oil leaks around it.

      Don’t be to worried. This is a very good and reliable car. Is normal to do some maintenance as the car age. You can’t expect a rubber or plastic to last forever.

  • @TomRS2
    @TomRS2 4 года назад +5

    Almost perfect but dont forget to put liquid gasket on all the corners of the half rounds. This is a weak point. And before starting the engine, put the contact on and wait till the valvotronic has set. This will take about 30 secs.

    • @sefiig95
      @sefiig95 3 года назад +1

      I didn't do this step, and I had a leak right after the new gasket was installed... So what he said ^👏

    • @TomRS2
      @TomRS2 3 года назад

      Before starting the engine you have to put the contact into the last position. The valvetronic wil make some sounds which indicates its adjusting. When the sounds are gone you can srart te car. Approx 10-60 seconda

      BMW engines are tilted, so oil is more likely to seep. And they run hotter causing the rubber to harden.
