  • Why was Venice, Italy built on water?
Venice (Italy) is one of the most amazing cities in the world. But how did it get there? Why would anyone want to live in a city that can't be accessed by land, and who had to build their houses out over the water? Well, as you'll see from this video, there's a really good reason why they made Venice out of water.

@@clickhereforshowittoothers2184 well I doubt it concerns me as I am no longer an atheist. I was accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven as I started craving that love which is eternal and infinite. As I cried out to My Father, that is Your Father also, he gave me the knowledge I was searching for and much more. He made me realize, in my own personal life and experience, that Jesus is the way. I am walking on the narrow path in my elder brother Jesus`s footsteps now, even today. As I have risen from the dead and come to take Jesus`s mission further. In a vision I realized that I can pray for miracles to happen in this world, but the world might be too numb and stubborn to realize it. That is when I called upon my Father again and asked PLEASE LET ME HELP O LORD, IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO. Now MiCahEl realized himself to me, in flesh this time. First in the vision I saw and suddenly by his Apostle Elijah. My friends and family were scared I got in a cult, but this is the healing of the nations and the truth of the light. We know that we know that wherever our heart is--there we shall be. Much love brethren. That is just a short testimony of how I came to be Saint Elvardiel Monjahronson Sehrahrah SHMD, Chief Apostle, Jesus Christ MiCahEl Super Human Ministry of Divinity. Most inventions are made by accidents, it is 99.99% probably just out of luck since that was the only wood found abundantly in that area, and then by the time they started importing wood, they may have known about this and only imported this kind of wood.

@@ritwikreddy5670 I would argue that most inventions start with an idea and then are followed by trial and error of methodology and materials to get the best results to achieve the envisioned goal. This is no different. Coastal cities already built wooden piers before Venice was built. Their genius was not the discovery of the longevity of wood piles in water, but to envision that done at great density and scale they could actually conquer the marshland mud islands the way they did.
Some "discoveries" are certainly born out of luck or accidents.

I remember watching a short doc about Venice where they were exploring various basements and ground floor levels showing how, over the years, the "ground floor" of the building were being built upon to raise up the floor level. While I'm not sure if it still holds true today, in the doc the mentioned how the raising of the floors has fallen out of practice in favor of other methods. On one hand I can see how basically making the floors thicker could help in the short term but by the same token you're just adding more and more weight on very old foundations. Certainly not an easy problem to solve no matter which angle you attack it from.

I was in Venice once. On that day the Piazza San Marco was flooded and the Water flower over the channels in next to the Rialto bridge. Since that day I know that Venice has a BIG problem…
I hope the City will last for some more years

Perhaps with the wall around the city blocking the sea, they could also pump water out and have better access to the wood foundation for maintenance 🤷‍♂️

Side note about the MOSE, it's not as depicted in the video, in fact it's a serie of submerged plaforms that rise when there is an high tide.

It is. It's in that class called "World History". Never underestimate the human ability to spend 12 to 16 years in school (more for post grad) and retain virtually nothing. The internet has proven that if nothing else.
