    I have been using Marathon Non-ethanol fuel at 90 octain here in Virginia now for years. It lasts a year or two in a can and even longer it seems when mixed with good two stroke oil. All my tractors, mowers, weed wackers, snow blowers and leaf blowers run great year after year!!

      AGREE - Ethanol is the enemy!!
      Almost zero problems prior to ethanol. We had all kinds of farm machinery with large & small gas engines, we usually turned of the fuel valve and walked away. Sometimes it would be 4 or 5 years later and they started on old fuel toped off with fresh and no problems. Used ethanol a few years and had all kinds of problems. Now I pay an extra buck a gal. for the non in small engines and it seems to work much better.

      After paying for spring carb cleaning two years in a row, switched to and only use non ethanol pure gas in my small engines. That was ~20 years ago. I burn or drain all the gas in the tank each fall. And pour what's left in the gas can into the truck and buy fresh pure gas each December when prices are at its lowest.

    On equipment that I can example lawn mower I use gasoline through the season. At the end of the season the last one or two cuts I use the canned gas. I let it run through the system while cutting which cleans out all of the regular gas and what remaining is the non-ethnol gas. This has worked for years for me.

    I think this is most common with bowl type carbs. it has been my experience with tank mounted carbs that this will not happen if you drain the fuel out of the tank. I recently pulled out a old push mower that I had stored for 21 years with the 3.5 hp briggs classic engine that I drained the fuel in when put in storage. I kinda forgot about the dang thing and pulled it out, filled the tank with fuel and it fired right up on the first pull without having to do any tweaking or tinkering to it. I was shocked!

    After 53 years of not doing anything special before storing equipment for winter (and sometimes longer) with ethanol and non-ethanol fuel, I've never had a problem. In spring if an engine doesn't want to start I remove the air filter and pour a small amount of fuel into the carburetor and the engine will usually start on the first pull. I have some 40 year old gasoline that I'm going to try before long and I'll bet it works just fine. BTW, my equipment has both two and four cycle engines.

    I run engineered fuel in all of my 2-stroke equipment year-round. (About 2 gallons a year @ $24 a gallon).
    But that's too expensive to use in my rider and push mower, (20 gallons a year) and unfortunately I cannot buy non-ethanol pump gas where I live.
    So I treat my ethanol gas all summer with a mix of Stabil-360 and Sea-foam.
    At the end of the season, I remove all of that from the tanks and then run the engineered fuel through the systems and let that stay in there through the winter.
    A lot of guys say the treated ethanol gas is just fine for winter storage. To each their own, but I'm not risking it.

My idea is without the ethanol or other substances in pump gas would help. I don't like those dried out carbs at all hehe. Carb rep kit $50, brand new carb $125. Plus $50 to rebuild the carb instead of replacing. (Nicky) Customers usually choose a new carb. Thanks for the upload! Very much appreciated 😊👍

    Great advice, IF you can get to the float bowl. In some cases, you can't. ('suitcase' generators) What I do, is turn off the fuel, run the carburetor out of fuel, then wait a few minutes. what happens, is the fuel line finally get a bubble, and the fuel comes out of the fuel line and filter, partially re-filling the float bowl! it's necessary to put on the choke, and re-start the engine. Running the carburetor out with the choke on, creates a much higher suction to the main circuit, emulsion tubes, as well as the idle circuit. I don't mind a little fuel residue in the float bowl, as long as it's well below the level of the main jet, and the idle circuit. Just letting it 'run out of gas' isn't good enough!

Ethanol in the gas, a gas can that is supposed to not spill gas, and now causes more gas to be spilled, cramming electric equipment down our throats, despite the infrastructure not being there to support it. 90 oct NO eth here in all my 2 stroke...
    Question I have had is this- What do you do when you have saws, blowers, alot of two stroke stuff. And you need to put them away for years. Like as in don't use for years 5 plus. Because I pretty much see I am screwed here. Short of every so often going through them all dumping all gas out and putting fresh in. Starting and repeat the long storage. That or stuff is going to dry up, rot etc. I have the same case with alot of push mowers and riders. For me, that is alot of work and wasted gas to just store for ages not even running them one time. Same token if I don't I am screwed as gas will sit in carb if I run all out. Stuff will harden. So, what is the answer here short of like every year dumping all out and repeat storage sit with new gas? I'm talking about like over 25 things I have to do this with. Some of the riders as well are like 5 gal tanks. This is aside from what I do use every season. For them I run 90 no eth all the time in my two stroke. Push and rider gets eth gas in season. Winter storage all fresh 90 no eth gas and STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 Год назад

      the real answer is to either store them dry or drain and refill once a year, plus a short run. Drained fuel (with stabilizer) can be used up in your car... in small quantities if necessary. (couple of gallons a week if you have lots to get rid of) I do this with my generator, which is kept full for outages. I also date my gas cans and rotate fresh fuel at least twice a year. (no stabil in there)
