Despite everything wrong with Mass Effect, it remains, in my personal opinion, the greatest science fiction trilogy in video game history. It's one I'll be coming back to for years to come.
It's the best sci-fi series in entertainment history if you ask me. Mass Effect beats Star Wars, Star Trek, and whatever else is out there sci-fi related.
This reminds you of the epic journey that was the Mass Effect series. If you consider who you were in ME1, and how naive you were to the galaxy, to becoming a ship captain, to being the savior of the galaxy and everyone in it. To go from facing the threats of Arachni, to Geth, the collectors and then to the ultimate bad asses, the Reapers. When i listen to this music, i relive the first 3 games, and think of all the time, and love that i put into those games. From Getting my own ship, to driving the Mako on strange planets (and up impossible angles) to watching my ship and crew blown up. Then waking up to a new ship, brought back to life by the "enemy" but with a familiar face in the pilot seat. To seeing the galaxy destroyed, with cities like Thessia on fire, and whole worlds destroyed. I then was cursed with not only saving the galaxy, and those within, but also having to decide their fate. Knowing all along what my (Shepard's) fate would ultimately be. Spending thousands of hours attempting to change the galaxy into something "better" with my decisions, knowing my true purpose was to make a better future, that i would probably not be around to enjoy. Even if you dont enjoy the way things ended, the journey to that point, and the difference we made to the lives of those in the galaxy, you have to look back and be happy at what you accomplished.
You as a player perhaps, but Shepard himself was already a well established military man whose acts of heroism were the tales of legend. If you think that Shepard was naive, then you my friend are a bloody fucking idiot.
I've been playing this while playing space engine. The flight simulator in that game combined with scanning planets is just so well suited for this piece.
I've been playing this while playing space engine. The flight simulator in that game combined with scanning planets is just so well suited for this piece.
Narrator Neil Ross should continue as the "Encyclopedia" voice. Coupled with the soundtrack, art style, and atmosphere, Mr. Ross turns those AMAZING components into a REAL -WORLD- GALAXY!
I enjoy having this video play in the background every time I'm browsing any game's map of the stars beyond Terra. It just feels like THE "space adventure!" music, and I refuse to accept any substitutes.
This music really puncuated the moments between battles in the War with the Reapers.... It gave you a sort of nostalgic excitment, the same thrills you had when you started your journey all those years ago. An Asari Doctor, C-Sec Vigilante and Quarian Pilgram at your side, not to forget the would-be Krogan Chieftain that excersizes badassery just by being in the room alone. And your loyal subordinates, a Gunnery Chief with an attitude both endearing and infuriating, and a by the book Lieutenant who was trying to find his place in the "shit-show" that was being alive in the 22nd Century. What little you, or any of them knew... It reminded you of the times when you and your crew were embarking on a mission, so dangerous, that many of you truly doubted that you were going to make it out alive. Despite all that you did, and you roamed the galaxy for a time afterwards, making new friends and fighting evil wherever it arose. Then came the Reapers..., this music was the backdrop to many of the journeys you made through the ruin of the Milky Way Galaxy, and a constant reminder of the greater goal. You were Commander Shepard, Humanity's Protector and Last Hope. Everything hinged on you, defeating those corrupted, evil, god-given robot lobsters. The sense of urgency and thrill was amazing.... One of my favorite tracks... Thanks for the Upload GA (^-^)/
I swear it’s so super comfortable listening to this song and it always takes me back to 2012. 😂 I can read entire Codex with this Song. :) Looking forward to using this song with Stellaris, No Man’s Sky and Elite Dangerous as well as other games maybe like EVE Online.
Wow and a whole year later it's Still that One Reaper that disliked the video! That's honestly quite impressive, usually there are trolls who dislike for the fun of it.
What wonders of imagination these notes can conjure! It gives me the image of floating among the stars past cosmic nebulas, gas giants and other planets alike. tell me friends, what do you see when you close your eyes to this mesmerizing melody?
As someone who played ME2 and ME3 first (got into the series early 2012 when ME1 wasn't yet available for PS3 at the time - so I finished ME2 right as ME3 was released), I quite enjoyed ME3. My view may be skewed since I didn't start with ME1 though. I was sad when I finished ME3, not dissappointed. And sad because it was over haha. Of them all though, I think ME2 was my fav. Followed by ME1 and ME3. Love the trilogy overall and can't wait for the next release!
Have you managed to play it? How's the new LE? I've been tempted to buy it, but I don't know if it can add something worth the cost, considering that I've still got the 3 original games with all the narrative DLCs (and a couple of the crunch ones).
@@mrmaster9801 the Legendary Edition has been on sale quite frequently. I started with 2 back on the Xbox 360 (couldn't get my hands on 1 at the time). I skipped straight to 3 on the LE and it played well. No issues on my PC and I did a few quality of life mods installed there. 3 got me hooked, and I played 1 right after. Now I'm back on 2, so I can carry my imported character to 3. I know I played it in a very strange order, but it hasn't hampered my experience. LE gave me the chance to enjoy this series, which I never got a chance to when it came out back in the day. Since you already have the original copies and their DLCs, I'd say, If you can get it for under $15 or $10, do it.
I will admit, going on the galaxy map i would turn up the volume and do a couple of things like make a cup of Rosie lee and forget iv heard it repeat over and over again LOL
We only know what happens from the perspective of the mass relay net in this game, space is HUGE.. There could be an entire galactic community aside from the one we know in the M.E. trifecta and neither be aware of eachother..
Are you using texture mods? And isn't there a mod for Mass Effect 3 that lets you have background music on the ship? I always felt that was lacking in the 2nd and 3rd games. I LOVED the beat music in ME1 while walking around the ship :D
Expanded galaxy mod or EGM, apart from including a whole lot of customization and a more complex war assets system, also has an addon which adds the original me1's music to the Normandy. I strongly recommend it
I really need to get back into Deus Ex.. it's been so long. I ain't sure how I am going to piece that one together, it's a fairly large mission from what I remember.
@@peterfogarty4809 Well, I could go into a long and drawn out discussion (like seriously days long), but it boils down to (in my eyes) things like Day 1 DLC, a story plot that goes back on itself with a weapon blueprint that can do incalculable amounts of damage in one frame, and in another it suddenly needs Reaper (hello?) tech to work properly. Too much time is spent fighting Cerberus, and not enough time dealing with the real threat - the Reapers. In ME2 we spent plenty of time on Tuchanka. Along comes ME3 and I spend almost no time on Thessia, zero time at all on Palaven and WAY too much time on (again) Tuchanka. We were on Sur'Kesh for what, 15 minutes? I do not feel that it was logical for the Geth to not convert Rannoch to their own needs and leave in pristine shape for the Quarians to run home to. There were no quest logs, and nearly all of the Citadel interactions had me creepily lurching in on peoples conversations. For all of the tension that was built up in this game, there was no release. The game ending has me talking the "Star brat", and yet near the end of ME1 Vigil gave me code that could override Sovereign and the stupid brat and lock them out of controlling the Citadel. In the end, you want to end your series on a strong note, not introducing the player to an all new never heard of in the game bad guy that looks like an imaginary kid that you saw get killed in some scripted scene. The writers were not supposed to leave the Milky Way in a tattered mess. The whole reason for the Andomeduhh initiative (ME:A) was to try and escape the rancid dogfart of a game known as ME3.
