They made it so they aren't developing the engine and the game at the same time. It makes the most sense.
This is the most ridiculous criticism - 'I don't like the particular pose chosen for the energy sword activation in the trailer. It looked too static to me' I mean come on now!
They could start recovering the losses by re-releasing Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach as next gen Unreal Engine 5 games BUT CHANGE NOTHING ELSE about the games entirely because this changing visuals BS is what started this supposed downfall

When you take gears away from properly functional machines, then replace them. It's not going to work, right? Time, time, and time again, these greedy Ceo wants to save money by firing half the team but ends up shooting themselves in the foot. The game and the fans always suffer for it. If it's not broken, don't fix it but instead improve it like what other game industries do. I love Halo. Actually, Halo was my first multiplier game growing up. I had so many great memories. This isn't halo. Master Chef looks like his on a diet, and the world looks too realistic. I have a weird feeling they're going to cooperate with microtranslations, emojis, and customizable skins. I just want my renegade Spartan warrior back.

Imagine trying to spin this as bad news. Everything that came about 343’s rebranding as Halo Studios, completely new team ostensibly & multiple games in development including the all but confirmed Halo CE Remake, this is all fantastic news.

To paraphrase Ian Malcom, "Halo had it's shot and nature [time] selected it for extinction". Halo was a innovative series 23 years ago, but that was then, not now. Scott is stating the truth some don't want to hear: Halo doesn't appeal to the masses like it used to. Who plays Halo, right now? Kids who want a F2P shooter they can kill time with on Game Pass. It's not middle aged persons who were teens when it first released. It's unfortunate Xbox is still defined by Halo because it's one of the reasons they're not moving forward among other things.
Chief looks too round and I don't like that they've gone backwards with the design. I agree that they've been in nothing but "desperate to recapture nostalgia by evoking the old stuff at every chance" and it's losing my interest. I suppose I'm still upset at their hard left turn in the story with Infinite 😅
I want to like halo again but they're going backwards instead of taking halo someplace new is disinteresting to me. Tho I'm realizing that everybody else seems to feel the opposite and just wants halo 1-3 regurgitated
It would be great if they could get things back on track, but, honestly, I sense another trainwreck incoming somewhere in all of this, again.

The animation reminds me of a shinier version of a robot chicken sketch using the action figures as models.
Would love a soft reboot where you play as your own spartan like Noble 6 in Reach. Have your story coincide with the original events hearing and possibly being around for the Chiefs exploits. Every 2-3 games you get another game/campaign where you are Chief. Imagine if your Spartan is always growing within the Halo universe across games where you're not only seeing and hearing about Chiefs actions from your POV but playing Chiefs next story and having a moment where he interacts with your Spartan from his POV as well. Anything ODST as well would get me going.
I think it looks alright, also its an early build. Much can change from an initial build.
Halo's big problem today is it's story. Infinite's gameplay is incredible, I have more hours in it than any other Halo game, but it and certainly Halo 5 have bad or at least weak stories. As for graphics this is just a demo, but Halo used to have a very distinct graphical style that wasn't supposed to be highly realistic. Not sure how possible that would even be with UE5's physically based rendering system even if they wanted to return to it.
Can’t even put out an engine demo concept without people complaining these days 🙄

This could go in so many different directions. Halo:Infinite was the CLOSEST they've gotten to getting Halo FEELING like Halo again. (The Elites aren't your biggest enemy; flying crates are) So I'm a little apprehensive about the switch to Unreal. The thing is too though. Halo 1, 2, & 3 all just let you DO IT. They gave you the tools and the toys and said, "just go have fun with it." Reach is where they started saying, "Okay, okay, we have to worry about shepherding people towards the story, (and added that stupid ass "Return to the Battlefield" crap) and we have to worry about balancing TOO much. Like, obviously there's got to be little tweaks so we don't all just pick up the smg, but some guns are just meant to be better than others. Not E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. has to be a "viable strategy" Some things are just to make do with on the way to better things. But my point is, the original 3 just had so much more... Freedom. And that's a feeling that's been missing from videogames in general for wayyyyyyyyyyyy too long. I've beaten the campaign 567 times; of course I'm going off the beaten track this time around, and flipping my Warthog off of a cliff that "you're not supposed to be able to climb." You can't do that in the newer games. (Unless you're MintBlitz I guess) But I'm pretty sure even he uses modded versions for some of his videos to remove barriers. But as backwards as it may seem, that lack of restriction made it feel so much more... real. 343 really kind of dropped the ball with Infinite. They had greatness in their hands, but then just gave up on it halfway down the field. They also kinda messed up by destroying the original intent of the Forerunner. They were originally meant to be US. WE f***ed up bad enough to the point that WE destroyed the galaxy by trying to play God. But I guess "humans bad," is just wayy too controversial, so they turned them into some generic looking aliens and retconned it to where, "no no no, we lived 'alongside' them and we really tried to stop them, blah blah blah." The funny thing is though, is it's the limitations of what the O.G. Xbox could do that led to the story being so good. They couldn't do the origin story for every. single. stupid. a**. thing in the franchise, and that "mystery is more compelling than the answer" (to paraphrase the indomitable Ewan) kinda like the fog in Silent Hill. But also, the simplicity in the art direction also made the Forerunner structures seem so much more alien and mysterious. Not all of it needed the neon blue light strips. I suppose I'm rambling at this point, but honestly it wouldn't have been that hard to keep a good story going and make a good Halo game. (At this point with all of the retcons it probably is, they've kind of written themselves into a corner) But just keep the fun a** physics, and stop restricting us. Use the BLAM! engine, dress it up nice for a modern audience. And stop trying to shoehorn your way into already established lore. You can put your own creative spin on it without destroying what's already well established. And let us keep asking the question of, "well, what the hell is this... Thingy?" It's a little too late for all that now, but If they really tried, I bet there could be some sort of epic mystery Chief could (partially) solve still somewhere in this universe. I dunno. But don't get so caught up in telling the "Grand Opera" that you forget to make the game Fun To Play first and foremost.

Microsoft is out of touch. And 343i acts like rebranding the studio to Halo Studios, will make them good at making Halo games.

The entire leadership team was fired and a massive part of the studio was laid off, I have no idea what people want out of 343 at this point

Why do we have to force a team who wants to work on halo to work on something else, it’s not like they didn’t know they would be making halo when they got hired, and it’s not like they got trapped with halo unexpectedly.they were created and shaped to be the halo team.
@jovialmonster757 This is the issue the industry is having right now. Gaming is an art. These developers are artists. Sure, some, maybe many want to work on Halo. But as with any artist, they don't want to keep creating the same thing over and over. And to change what they are working on, they have to uproot their lives to move. Which may not be a bad idea, considering they live in the expensive ass state of WA.
As legendary as the game is, I do think Halo has had its time in the sun. however, I do hope they get this right eventually.
As both an ultra fan of Halo and a fan of this channel, I can see where you're coming from. The nit pick is a valid one, the movement when igniting the sword seems off in a way. I think the energy sword in general is a little off. But this is about as early of a look as we're getting for this concept, and if those are my only nit picks from an otherwise promising look at the future of Halo, then a happy Spartan I am and a massacre this is not.
U say it needs to maybe be like MGS2 but didnt Halo 5 do that and try to establish Locke as this new lead and, like Raiden, the fans just got upset cause they wanted more Chief/Solid Snake? I think the issue is they dont commit to their vision and give the books waaaaay too much story importance that it makes it hard for casual non book fans. They imo just need to get bigger with it, have a team focus on Chief and the nostalgic feel of Halo but also branch out and do experimental things with the ip like ODST and Wars did

There is something that looks off about Chief. Yes i know its the Halo 1 armor but there's just something off. I feel like he looks too thick, lol maybe its just me but he looks chunky specifically the waist and it gives off a sort of uncanny valley, or imitation feeling. Other than that though I think the graphics overall look great, the environments look stunning and the weapons too. Idk why chief just looks a bit off.

At least they’re putting in the effort to improve it. We should give it a chance. It’s obvious the visual details are a massive upgrade. I like the Unreal 5 Engine.

I walked away from Halo multiplayer with 4 and never even went into guardians multiplayer. I just recently picked up Infinite and damn, it is so much fun!
I was so excited to play H:I multiplayer after not playing since H:3, but the progression and armor bullshit was too much for me.
Great multiplayer. Too monetized.
Infinite was thier last chance to bounce back with a good story. We were set up with 2 antagonists, evil Cortana & evil brute dude, then they realised that they had no idea how to actually make that story work, so while Master Chief floated around in space for months they had the 2 main bad guys take each other out of the game and left Chief to look after the crying pilot and baby not Cortana. That was their chance! And they chickened out.
The first half hour was "locked door. go find a key" bullshit.

Halo 4 was the only acceptable halo game that 343 has made, and even that failed to please a decent amount of fans. That was 12 years ago. 343 has had their chance and it's time to move on.
