All of those credit cards have regular credit limits. The tool DOES NOT WORK for Amex charge cards (e.g. Amex Platinum Card, Amex Gold Card, Amex Green Card) as those do not have preset credit limits.

Oh, I didn’t know about this feature (do it yourself). I recently did two available credit shifts between my Amex credit cards by calling the customer service phone number. I didn’t know I could have done it myself. Thanks for the information! Cheers 🥂
Another way to do it 👍
Your videos are so helpful & informative. Thank you for both talking through each step and listing the information on the screen. I refer your channel to so many people.
Glad to hear the channel is beneficial to you, Christel! Thank you for referring the videos to others 😃💯
One of the best credit RUclipsrs hands down. I usually call to do this. Didn't even know this was possible online
Thanks, glad you found this helpful! 😃🏆
So glad you made this video! Just wanted to do the same but didn’t know how ! Always coming through with the great content 🤩🥂
Glad it helped, Jonathan!
Thank you Mark for this video, this really helped a lot can’t wait to get more Amex cards and be able to move my credit limits👍
Glad it helped! 💯
Thats a pretty cool feature! Thanks for the great video, as always!
You bet!
Who’s done a credit line reallocation with Amex? 😃💳
Great Video. One rule I think they have is no card can have more then $24,000. Makes a lot of sense. If you need more the that just get a charge card.
@@JesusGarcia-dn5ek - Hmm I've not heard that. In fact, I've seen other people with $30K - $40K limits on Amex cards.
I’ve seen a lots with a $50k limits on their Amex.
Thank you! Great feature I did not know about!!!
Happy to help!
Mark, you are TRULY AWESOME‼️ Wonderful information. Thank you.😃
Thanks Liana! 🌟
This info....I did not know.. Thank you so much !!!

Wow, I had no idea.amazing
😃👍
Well done 👍
Thanks 👊
Hell yes…so glad I watched this
😎🏅
Yeah this is a great idea, I wonder if it would help you get another card if applying
Not sure about that ✌️
Beautiful
Do more contents like that, beside review credit cards.
Question, is da capital one reward or X has "Primary or Secondary" rental insurance?
The cap 1 x has primary rental insurance 😎
The Capital One Venture X has primary rental car insurance.
Good cards
💯👍

Might be worth noting that one reason to do this is before you close an account, you can keep most of the credit by transferring it to another card.
Indeed! 👌
Does Citibank and Capital 1 have this feature as well? Thank you.
Not that I'm aware of online. You can try calling the banks & request a credit line reallocation over the phone.
Thanks for the video, Mark! Do you know if Amex will let you transfer the whole credit limit for one Amex card (before you close this card) to another Amex card? Assume both are personal cards, and the main reason to close a card is to make room for other Amex credit cards (the 4 or 5 credit card rule). The card would be just over a year old and has no annual fee. If so, do you know what impact a closure (of a card with a very low to zero credit limit) would have on your credit profile (score, etc.)? Thanks!
No, Amex doesn't allow transferring the entire limit. Rather, you can transfer _most of the limit._ I don't have a means to determine the effect on your credit score from closing an account. However, even closed accounts remain on your official credit report for 7-10 more years.
@@MarkReese Thanks for the info, Mark!
Mark, does (or will) shifting credit limits between our credit card have a negative impact on my credit scores at the 3 major credit bureaus? I receive notifications from Experian and MyFico when my credit card limits increase, so I'm concerned if I would received a notification saying the limits on one of my cards have decreased, possibly negatively affecting my credit scores. All of my credit scores are well over 800 at this time.
Hi Frank - I can't confirm for sure, but in my own experience, no. When one limit gets reported as being lower, the other gets reported as being higher. I've had no lasting negative effect from doing reallocations.
I need to this. Only have 1k on my Hilton honors card.
📈👍
I have a story to tell about this Mark. I tried to move my limit from my Amex Investor card to my Delta Plat card. I was denied. So I called Amex to find out why. I was told because I had a "Global Limit" on my Amex Plat card, I couldn't transfer my credit. I had never heard of a Global Limit. Ironically, Amex increased my "limit" on my Platinum card even though that's not what I asked for or wanted, they gave me an additional $4k "limit". Honestly, I'm still confused.
Interesting, I'm confused too 😄✌️
Im not sure if there is a minimum time open rule because I just tried transferring some of my limit from my Amex Optima (1 yr old) to my New Amex Blue Cash Everyday (0 months old) card but it said I didn't have two open Amex cards yet. I will try again in 30 days after the first statement.
Hi Sam - You may need the new card open for ~ 6 months before increasing / transferring limits to a new card. Feel free to try before then if no hard inquiry is involved.
Can you transfer points/rewards from amex blue to amex platinum in the same way you can with chase cards?
Which Amex Blue card are you referring to?
would this work for example if your were denied a new card? could you just call and have the denied account opened using your available credit limit from an open account 🤔
This tool would not work for a denied account. However, you could call the Amex reconsideration line to see if they could use existing credit to open that denied account.
Assuming you have multiple Amex credit cards, would it be smart to transfer your some of you credit limit from you less used card to one of your higher used cards? My thought is that it would give the lesser used card a higher usage rate and would prevent you from getting into pop-up jail. Would that work?
I don't think that would have an effect on getting pop-up jail messages.
So if you change from personal to bus it's permanent. No change back option?
Correct.
Do you do paid consultations? I looked on your website and didnt see anything. I only have a few questions probably take 10 minutes and I'll pay hundreds or whatever you want really. Let me know thanks, and great videos.
Hi Kyle - I do not.
So can you move the limits from multiple cards to 1? And would it benefit your score to have an account with a higher limit? Possible hack?
Yes & (potentially) yes.
Years ago you can move business card to personal
Sounds like times have changed 😁
Hey Mark - Great Video!! I have a question though - You transferred $2k from Hilton Business to Bonvoy Business and your new Credit Limit is $5K. Will AMEX decrease your new Credit Limit on the Bonvoy back down to $3K or will it remain at $5K?? Also will AMEX do another increase on your Hilton Business since you were already approved for $19K??
Hi Michael - no. If you move $2K from Card A, then Card A's total limit decreases by the same $2K while the other card (Card B) gets increased by $2K.
Amex may or may not do another increase on my Hilton card. I don't have a way of knowing what they'll do in the future.
I know you’ve mentioned in the past that you said that American Express will do a financial review on you if you reach over a certain amount does that include personal and business cards combined?
I believe so. I think the combined credit is $35k and above.
Yes, both combined. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a set number. It used to be $35K anecdotally, but I and many other people have exceeded that without financial reviews. Perhaps it's now based on things like income level, debt level, payment history, etc.
Hi Mark, I want to get a travel credit card, but I don't like booking airline tickets and hotels through Chase, Amex, UR, or Capital One portals. I prefer booking directly via the airline website or hotel website. I know most cards steer you to their reservations portal to maximize points earned. Is there any card that let's you earn the same points when booking directly through airline or hotel websites as when booking through their own site?
Hi Monica - check out the following cards:
- Amex Green Card
- Citi Premier Card
- Amex Platinum Card (flights only)
- U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve ("only" 3X but still a strong return)
- Chase Sapphire Reserve ("only" 3X points but that's still a strong return)
@@MarkReese Great. Thanks so much.
Transfer is only to increase the amount or I can transfer to remove the debt also???
Transfer = increase the total credit limit on 1 card by reducing a limit on the other. You cannot transfer your balance with this method.
Is there any specific reason why AMEX may decline a credit line reallocation? I noticed after you were done, it says it has been approved, so I assume that meant there is a possibility of denial.
It's probably possible to get a denial, though I'm not sure what the reason(s) would be.
So if you transfer personal line to business line it is then gone forever from your personal line since you can't give it back? And then you would have to request credit limit increase on the personal? Is this some type of hack where you can keep transferring and requesting more
Correct, it's then gone from the personal side. You could remedy that by requesting a credit limit increase and/or getting additional personal cards.
Great video! I'm trying to get my first Amex card...Gold personal. I applied inline and thought I was denied, but then received a letter asking me to sign a doc so they could access my tax return to verify my annual income...which I did. They have doc, but every time I check "status" at AMEX site, it says "in progress". It's been about 3 weeks. I called yesterday and rep says indeed it's in progress, that they have been back logged, but they are currently working on my application. I asked if perhaps I would be declined as it's been so long, I was told "white the contrary, I have a very low chance of denial". ????? Have you EVER heard of this and taking THIS LONG??? Thanks...I hope I'll be joining the AMEX family???
Hi Gregory - I haven't had that experience with Amex. Sorry to hear it's taking so long. Good luck & report back with the final result! 💯
I'm wondering why anyone would want to transfer a limit between personal and business, since you couldn't reverse the process and it would thus permanently decrease your personal credit line.
People may have their reasons! 😁
I did this with my Barclays cards. The only way i could get my business card was to take the credit from my personal. I took a very small amount so I didn’t raise my utilization on the personal card over 30%. After i paid off my personal I transferred a little more over. Barclays has raised my credit limit on my personal to what is was before but they have never raised the limit on my business card so i may transfer a little more over. I use my business card way more than my personal card.
I applied for a Hilton anex card and I have a platinum and I got denied because I have an additional member who put one less dollar then the amount in there account to pay and it was a returned payment they refunded the fees because I’ve never missed a payment or anything negative on my account since I wander if I can apply again after 30 days
Ah that's frustrating. Not sure if Amex now has an internal flag on your account.
@@MarkReese if they did I have Marriott Gold Elite Status and I’ll get a chase card instead 🤓
Bummer. I need to reallocate my gold amex balance to a 0% apr..
You'll need to get approved for a 0% APR offer on balance transfers & then perform that transfer.
I submitted the transfer request but I got a message that it take 7-10 days. Why not immediately? What does that mean? What did I do wrong?
Not sure. As long as it goes through I wouldn't worry about it. Check back on it.
Can i tranfer amex to my chase card???
Nope ✌
👍🏾👍🏾
👊👊
can u do this with platinum and golds?
No, those are charge cards and do not have traditional credit limits.
@@MarkReese if you are a charge card member is there an easy way to apply for a. Credit (blue) card internally within the same account and be easily accepted?
@@matthewalkman386 - I don't have a way to say if approval odds are better or the same. There's a good chance of your 2nd application being a soft pull though.
Does this apply to transferring it to another account but not American Express. I have an American Express credit card but want to transfer to my Virgin account. Can I do this with your method?
You cannot transfer credit lines from one bank to a different bank ✌
@@MarkReese yes,you can. I transfered my credit from Amex to a virgin credit card. I had to do it from virgin app.
@@teeteeme5752 - Which bank issues the Virgin card?
@@MarkReese there is a virgin credit card but I don't know if its valid in the US. I reside in UK. But it allowed me to transfer my credit from Amex British Airways American express card to virgin credit card so that I can use their 0% interest rate.
@@teeteeme5752 - Awesome! The videos on this channel only apply to U.S. cards.
Hi Mark question can you ask for a credit limit on gold and platinum?
Hi Felipe - In general, no, those are charge cards with no preset spending limit. However, you can turn on the Pay Over Time feature to make them function more like a credit card. That will activate a Pay Over Time limit.
I so wished they allowed business to personal. I want to raise up my BCE and Magnet.
That would've been nice ✌️
I think requesting a 3x cli is a better alternatives on raising the limits on your BCE and Magnet.
@@snorlax6943 - Yes, but if they decline those 3x cli’s, at least business to personal would be a nice option.
I don’t even have 1 😤
No need to worry about this feature right now 😄✌️
