Played this in High School Marching Band. We performed in Disney World, marched a parade in Epcot Center. Still remember so much about that moment in time.
We did this my freshman year in High School in the fall of 1978. I was in the drumline and always thought this was the coolest song we did over the years. (Highland High - Thornton Colorado)
Performed this in marching band too 97 or 98. I've been looking for some version of this forever. I can still remember those super high notes at the end were a bitch to hit for me. Trumpet player btw.
What really made me start looking for this after all these years was that in 2014 when my daughter was a H.S. freshman in color guard they did a show marching to El Toro (Toro Rojo, Toro Furioso). I've always like the spanish style marching music. I put a very early season after game show run through on here but of course I focused my video mostly on Guard where my daughter was. As they always do, practice makes more perfect and by the end of year it was a lot better. The Guard didn't even have their costumes yet. It sure has changed since I was in H.S.
This is the earliest Jenson Publications arrangement that I can remember ever hearing ... played by the Cedar Ridge HS Marching Band (Old Bridge NJ) in the late 1970s (fall 1977, 1978 or 1979) ... like ALL Jenson arrangements, it was FULL, LUSH and POWERFUL ... after hearing it, I was HOOKED on Jenson's catalog until they were absorbed by Hal Leonard ... that opening brass fanfare was something that I ALWAYS wanted to play, either the trumpet part or the baritone horn
What got me looking was my daughter is a senior this year and they did a Spanish theme show her freshman year called El Toro- El Toro Rojo, El Toro Furioso. Just made me think about the old days watching her high school band perform the last four years. the video is "Parkway High School Marching Band performing 'El Toro"
With my high school band director passing recently and then my son is in band as a sophomore this year, ive been looking for songs that I played through high school (Clay High School Oregon, Ohio - Class of 1999).
@@rodrigosantos9181 Jay Bocook wrote "España" ... if it is in print, Hal Leonard bought out Jenson Publications, so that might be the first place to check
Does anyone know where to get the sheet music for this? Our band played in back in the 80's and 90's but we lost the music. Would be great to play again
Northeast Louisiana State University band did most of the studio and live recordings for this series of demo albums. Most of Jenson Publications were employed there or friends of these guys.
Haven’t heard this song in almost 30 years…still able to hum every note. Great marching band song!

A low-grade march knocked up on the back of a cigarette packet. Sounds like a 60s TV theme tune.
