A lot of other fighting games have great stages but MK1 is the first one where I fall in love with every single one of them.
Right? Idk of a single one I don't like
MK1 stages are the best part of the game. The only game I can see that could rival MK1's stages, is Tekken 8.
I love mk11 more than mk1,but mk11 has a map where I hate the guts of playing in it
i wish we had MK Armageddon Konquest style gameplay so we could explore these environments more, these beautiful environments have such potential to get explored further

Let me throw everything I want in the soup. A beat'em up Mortal Kombat like Shaolin Monks where we can have coop or even a party of three members, but also a open world experience like Deception gave us. We can do a lot of exploring and meaningful quests, not repetitive shit that takes forever sometimes.
We could actually learn more from this new timeline and even meet a lot of characters that didn't show up yet. Or maybe we could drop the Coop idea and have just young Shujinko finishing his training and then going on a journey to develop his abilities but being guided by the other characters, they teaching him not just technique but also helping him to grow as a character. We could go for multiple choices, choosing different paths that can lead us to different endings.
It's not something that we expect from MK but Shujinko is a good character to work with this, he was naive enough to fall into anyone's hand and be corrupted but also was selfless enough to get in between a war just for the sake of people who asked his help. Unlike Taven who was too focused on his main quests Shujinko was always easily distracted, so being able to explore the whole world and learn from everyone, pick sides and build our own destiny, that is a good experience.
Now... Imagine how nice it would be to customize Shijinko's entire moveset based in a Beat'em up game, maybe not like Shaolin Monks but more like Hokuto no Ken Lost Paradise maybe... I don't know.
Okay, just one more idea. What if we kept the PVP shit, like an arena match. We could use our Shujinko (that the game could let us customize the apperance a little so we could have a taste of Kreate your Character again) against other player Shujinko like Shujinko from different timelines, or being able to use characters that we unlocked by mastering their styles. A good Shujinko who kept helping earthrealm and is wearing the White Lotus clothes from the end of Deception against an evil Shujinko from the evil ending where he wears something similar to Shang Tsung's clothes and learned soul and blood magic, have some of Shao Kahn or Reiko moves.

What is cool about the great hall is if you play as or are facing any of the 3 ladies sitting in their chairs they won’t be sitting there. I’ve only seen it with Kitana but I’m sure it’s true for Sindel and Mileena as well

God the level of detail in the teahouse alone, they've got an entire village back there! When I thought they'd have flat textures or low poly buildings that face one direction, they all look incredibly detailed. Same Johnny's mansion, I hate how we can't explore it more, it's fully modeled on all sides for cutscenes I'm sure
Great attention to detail on those levels. some of the best we have ever seen.
Little details like in the throne room where mileena is getting excited and sitting slouched over clearly into the battle while Kitana and Sindel sit gracefully exchanging words or the occasional gasp it’s adorable
Now that explains why every chapter takes place in a stage, or a few of them.
Same for all the other previous MK's. The cutscenes have always revolved around the stages you can fight in. That way they can add a lot of detail without being a waste on resources.
as a guy who makes 3d modeling and rendering i gotta say they did add really small details, even outdoors, they took the time to add some lowpoly buildings far away to give the sensation of distance, amazing, that also explains the game 100 gb, lots of assets
Fun Fact: in the great hall stage if you choose Sindel, Mileena or Kitana they would be missing from their chairs.

In the tea house I like how they put the Mortal Kombat, X lady that you can throw and kill her. It’s a really good detail

you could tell the creators had fun making some of these detailed items and things in the background. especially in madam bo's teahouse

I feel like the Dangly Rope in Cage Mansion is a little Easter egg meant to be found if you go exploring

Couldn't agree more. As someone who works with 3d rendering I'm baffled by the amount of never to be seen details which must be using an unknown amount of your pc/console resources. No denying it all looks gorgeous though

Simply awesome!!!!! I love those details (in spite Some defects at the end of the every stage). It is amazing yo see the textures of fruits such as apples, oranges and apricots (0:58), announcements of Kano, and Johnny Cage 's prizes like the Palm (in alution to Cannes') and a Gold Raspberry at 8:25 😂 or the cheese of the pizza and mexican Tequila (8:54).

It’s crazy how much detail they put into backgrounds that we as the players don’t get to see whenever we’re fighting, like not just the backgrounds but stuff that isn’t on the screen because it’s “out of bounds”

4:03 I just noticed the picture of an old lady on the wall looks just like the old lady in the outworld market stage in Mortal Kombat X. The one you could interact with.
And it says she is Madame Bo. Which means that she existed in the MKX timeline.
I feel like these maps are way bigger than they need to be. You can make the map look exactly as it does now still cut out a bunch stuff off screen that players will never see. It will save so much resources maybe reduce the total file size.

I was thinking about saving resources to apply instead into making more costumes, more kameos, etc. Like, things that directly impact the true experience of a 2d game... The fixed camera angle of 2d fgs prevent people from looking a lot of stuff done there.
@@carlosaugusto9821 not in this case, these stages are in the story mode and the parts we don't see normally are used for scenes and transitions there-in.

I'm guessing the environments are all fully rendered in 3D because they will all be invasions maps in the future. Can't wait to make my character explore that arched hall in the royal palace.

Nope, Invasions maps look totally different and have different layout. They are set up totally different.
These are just so detailed because they need them for different angles in cutscenes and such. And even then they did go a bit overboard.

Damn, they have more than just one area been rendered. They rendered places even outside of main area. I wonder what for? It's not like it is a 3D game like Tekken, where you can move in any direction that you like.

I hope you find a way to make every NPC playable like Ermac, Quan Chi Dark Raiden, Dark Scorpion, Shao Kahn with hammer and every hybrid fighters from chapter 15.
Ermac and Quan Chi are going to be part of the first Kombat Pack. Dark Raiden, Dark Scorpion, and Shao Kahn would just be skins for the already existing characters. But the hybrid fighters should definitely be modded in at some point.

Honestly I love the amount of detail in the stages, don’t know why people have to be like “oh it’s strange that they have so much detail that we can’t see” who cares? They wanted to add detail and they seemed to have fun with it so why not just enjoy that🤦🏼♀️
i remember i was playing on cage's mansion on ps5, fighting against an ai tanya, and she got me in air in the cirner and hit me with a fatal blow, it was weird though, she was facing left but the animations olayed out as if she were facing right.
turns out, the game glitched and showed me the fight if the camera was oriented the other way, and i was amazed at how much geometry is modeled for something you can never see in game!
There is an over site in Mileena‘s attack during Lemei story where there are two Milennas at least when I played the switch version

Weird how much detail there is for stuff behind the camera for stages like the great hall and cage mansion. It's not for cutscenes, because most of those are prerendered. I wonder when it's shown
Can you make one with the hourglass stage please? I want to make a miniature of this stage and it would be very helpful to see the details...
An admirable effort from one side. But on the other hand i started thinking that these highly detailed modern fg stages that are notable in TK and MK, that could even be called excessive and overdone, look like a waste. Especially MK that is 2d, so there is even less to see in the 2d fixed angle. But even in TK there's a ton of effort put in places that the players hardly see.
So to me it would be better if these modern games simplified the actual battle stages, dropping the costs to make stages, and applied the saved resources in making adventure-like story modes similar to MK's Konquest, SF6's World Tour, etc, with some level of free roaming (even if restricted). That looks like a better use of resources to me.
