before anyone asks why i didn't just get my hat rat out and make a banquet of gourmet fresh soups phil gave me one hour to prepare for this video and he still hated the bougie soup he's just broken
soup haters cannot be fixed
no amount of preparation can fix the innately broken concept of soup, it's just the way it is
You try yo best dan 😢
I still think you should have made ten soups, try again
you were evil for the powder soup
The best part of this is Phil's inability to comprehend how you eat solid chunks suspended in liquid despite being a cereal fiend
This is so true lol
It's ✨different✨
hahaha so accurate 🤣
That’s different. The milk isn’t the main part. The cereal is. With soup the whole thing is just a bowl of liquid. It would be like eating(?) just a bowl of milk
@@marvelpovs2412you can have/make soups with less liquid and more chunks
Nothing has made me think 'i can fix him' more than this video. I feel like there MUST be a soup phil would love
potato and leek
someone should make the man some real soup in the first place like no wonder he doesn't like that canned shit (i say as someone who lives off of the canned shit lmao)
@@NarutoFanGirl753 HOMEMADE POTATO AND LEEK SOUP ACTUALLY SLAPS, its so good omg
broccoli and cheese was the first thing that came to my mind 😂😂😂
make him try the broccoli and cheese and then give him like, tomato soup as a palate cleanser😂😂
it’s like the cheese video😂 just soup trauma him into liking other soups😂😂
Phil t posing in response to a Bad Sensory Experience is honestly so relatable
you guys are so autistic
So relatable I found myself wondering if he’s autistic too…
Was gonna comment my own joke but I don’t want to be insensitive or prying
@@raininghail4049 yeah haha me too i made my own comment i cant shut up.
@@raininghail4049the things he does with his hands with every new soup leads me to say yes
I've always seen myself in him and I've come to realize that it's just me seeing my autistic traits
Petition to have a part 2, where Phil gets to eat homemade soup with actual real, fresh ingredients
I would adore a part 2. Phil deserves homemade soup.
Cheese soup!
So true!! Some good borscht for example lol
Yessss, these canned monstrosities don’t compare to homemade.
Yeah, canned soup just isn't the same. Just thinking about homemade pumpkin soup so tasty!
Laughing at Dan having to hop on and defend his honor over not having the time to get better soup. Makes me wonder how tf Phil’s videos even work. Does he just wake up and go “today is the day i heal from my soup trauma” or is Dan just the last to know?
Probably a mixture of both. But like Dan said he only knew like one hour in advance so yeah lmao
Literally what I thought. How does his mind work 😭
Maybe they were talking about what to have for lunch and Dan said he'd have the bougie soup and Phil said hey can I co-opt your lunch for a video? Or something
@@marietheotaku94in this scenario dans lunch is apparently several cans of randomized soup
@@chloegreenstreet2874opposites definitely attract, Dan ponders for months when he makes something, Phil says “wouldn’t it be awesome if I suffered on camera? BTW clear your schedule, you’re helping me” 😂 everyone needs a best friend who’s their polar opposite but is willing to go along with whatever random idea that spawns into their mind
As an asian, I usually refer soup as one of those spicy, clear broths type. Think pho, or tom yam or korean jiggae. I think Phil would enjoy them more than all of those cream-based products.
Same as a mexican. If he tried tortilla soup, pozole, menudo or mexican chicken broth, he'd actually like it. Canned soups are not that good.
@@megsmcra7x Damn, I googled all those mexican dishes, and they look so good. I'm hungry af now.
No wonder Phil doesn't like soup, none of these were normal soups. Soup can be so much better than this I promise! 😂
I get out my rat hat and make fresh soup every few weeks. It’s a lot better than the canned whatever the hell Dan was giving him on such short notice
Tomato soup is the most basic soup, besides chicken noodle.
Thank you!! Practically every soup he gave him was not a soup. I only ever use them as additions to recipes not on their own, that's gross lol
as a soup girl it hurts to know phil hates soup
ikr 😭 like soup is the best food ever, i eat it like at least 10 times per month
fr
as a soup girl same.
+
i relate as a soup AND cheese girl lol... this man is breaking me heart lol
Wait until he hears that we dip grilled cheese into tomato soup 😂
No but that is delightful and thats coming from a soup hater
Literally my safe food 😂
Tomato soup is the only soup I "like" for this reason 😂 I refuse to eat it by itself, however, if I finished the grilled cheese I finished the soup. Phil not liking soup either is so validating as well lol. There's just something about the cream/broth part I can't get by.
its such a comfort food
I love grilled cheese with tomato soup, but I would never eat tomato soup on its own, the cheese and bread makes all the flavour and texture difference
petition for phil to try cheese soup. maybe the hatred for both individually would cancel out
He’d implode
That would obliterate him
I think he'd spontaneously combust honestly
PEMDAS!
Dan really gave a lactose intolerant man a bunch of heinz cream soups and then wondered why he didn't like them lol. Love this. Make Phil try more soups please
Lactaid pills work wonders (but yeah he definitely can’t be feeling good later)
As a fellow lactose intolerant, lactose has never stopped me from enjoying cream soups, cheese, yogurt or straight up milk. Yes, I will suffer later, but I’m not a coward and my love for dairy must never be underestimated. Phil’s mouth is just broken.
You can't judge a soup if you base your taste test on pre-made products. I'm willing to make you a home made soup.
Real like homemade Hits Different
He said his uni housemate made him homemade soup and he threw it out the window😂
right this feels like asking “do i like bread” and then only eating stale white bread to test it, there’s so much more to soup than this!!
All these pre made things... not hard to believe he doesn't like it
Also he needs to add some lime on some of his soups
Thank you for looking out for your sapphic audience Dan
Ikr that cracked me up 😂
"yes you chew the crouton, don't just swallow it like a pill, you maniac"
I love them so much
Phil asking in panic "do i chew?" Like hes never eaten before???? my favorite
LOL
Never knew he hated soup
Same!!
Me neither? I feel like he mentioned this maybe ONCE like YEARS ago
We never knew his grandmother had her own secret language either. We learn something new about him everyday! 😅
I didn’t know Phil hated soup either
I love soup most of my memories were coming home from secondary school in the winter and heating up homemade soup my dad made one of them being bacon and lentil and it was delicious.
I also like cheese as well being lacto cheese cause of me being lactose intolerant 🙂
@Stickweeed honestly phil is the most random person every! You never know what he's going to say next! 😂
IN PHIL’S DEFENSE, which hurts bc I’m a soup girlie, him trying canned and boxed soups was setting him up for failure 😪
Those are usually mid at best. He needs to experience soup made with love.
Yes! I love soup but idk if I could eat these😂
take the man to a panera at least man
according to dan's comment, phil only gave him an hour to prepare for this video so that's probably why
I'm also a freak for soup and I LOVE a canned soup lol. Maybe I'm just a pleb but I would never turn my nose up at a ready made soup
@@screamingmadvoidPanera broccoli cheddar is the absolute GOAT and also I think Phil might be slightly persuaded by the bread bowls since he loves bread
10:07 this new laugh that dan has had since the end of the hiatus is everything to me
I think it might be his natural laugh but we haven’t heard it before…? Or he’s been possessed, IDK
@@ellaelliott4415 i think so his completely unabashed "the audience knows me better now so idc judge me all you want I've grown" laugh I'm LIVING for it
I’m so sad Phil doesn’t like soup. What about ramen? Pho? Egg drop soup? Wonton soup? Matzo ball soup? Those are goodness in a bowl. I could go on.
Edit: Phil should absolutely try matzo ball soup if he likes soups that are vehicles for carbs because it’s chicken soup with a giant carb ball.
He did say he likes ramen so he can be saved
12:59 and 13:55
dan giving you straight up cream of mushroom soup was actually evil
Right? Cream of mushroom is supposed to be used in stuff not eaten on its own 😭
legit like begging Dan to give the man a single noodle
Dan please give the man some homemade chicken noodle soup and not the canned monstrosity known as plain cream of mushroom soup
WHAT cream of mushroom is about the only canned soup I would willingly eat
I actually love cream of mushroom on its own- what kinds of things do you add it to?
Not giving Phil cheddar broccoli soup was such a missed opportunity
a top tier soup definitely
This, ladies and gents, is what we call "compounded trauma"
As a soup slut I'm really enjoying these soup reccomendations
best of the best
Agreed! It's so good!
Take him out for Thai and get Tom Yum soup. THAT is the Soup. 🍲
“It’s not a punishment it’s bread” 😂😂😂😂
The scream I scrumt
I’ve heard Dans laugh A LOT over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever heard him laugh like he did at 10:09 😭
Yeah tf was that
Haha, it was so funny 😂
I wasn't expecting him to laugh like that either, honestly😂 I always love the loud cackle he does though, makes me laugh like that too😂
he’s been spending too much time w anthony hahaha
Ikr😭
I am 100% a soup person, but I have to extend some sympathy to you Phil Dan picked some proper vile soups, there are FAR better ones than Creme of mushroom or chicken. Proud of you for facing your fears!
phil please know i appriciate you doing this. I too am a very picky eater and recently i've been trying new things, its less scary now, but its so comforting to know that i am not the only one who struggles with stuff like texture and taste and such
This video auto played while I was eating ramen, and I have to say it's an elevated experience participating with your own soup.
I think Phil might like a gnocchi soup or a loaded potato/chicken pot pie soup, perhaps! I’ve worked in a soup shop so I feel qualified to make suggestions lol
ooh yes i think he would like this as well!
i second this as a fellow soup hater. loaded potato soup is genuinely the only soup i’ll eat
I agree with this!
Never tried a chicken pot pie soup 😂
@@lunarialoonatic I’m vegetarian but I’ve been told it’s good! It has chicken, peas and carrots, and corn and you have it with an southern-style biscuit or a pie crust crumble. :))
Dans commentary on croutons in the cup of soup is sending me! “It’s not punishment it’s bread” 😂😂😂
This is so shocking to me, you have such strong soup boy energy
sorry, phil, this video reminded me to add cream of mushroom and chicken noodle soup to my grocery list🥣
So unfair of Dan to give Phil the blandest soups in existence. Give the man some freshly made soup and see his mind explode
it's not their fault they're british
They're British tho so maybe too much flavor would be scary for him? Too much...
@@yukikanegawa7470 idk if i heard it wrong but i think dan implied tomato had a spice to it and i was side eyeing him
He literally had homemade soup in college and hated it so much he couldn't eat more than one spoonful. I really don't think y'all are getting it through your heads lmao, homemade doesn't automatically equal "perfect food that literally everyone on the planet likes"
Dan forcing Phil to try soup sure is an oddly chaotic bonding moment to say the least.
Almost chaotic as Phil trying to eat cheese?
As someone who genuinely enjoys soup this was hilarious. Soup is sometimes the only "real" food I can eat for medical reasons, so I have learned to love it out of necessity 😅
Was waiting for the cheese soup but hearing Dan say "mushroom chunk" in the most goblin voice I've heard is everything
many thanks to dan for continuing to be the #1 defender of his and phil’s sapphic audience x
i love all the defending, especially considering how sapphic i became in their absence XD
i feel so seen
I’m actually bi but the 2 major creators I watch on this website are so defensive of their sapphics and I go rabid for it. Mlm/wlw solidarity is truly The Only content for me
I was like YAY THE SAPPHIC WITCHES ARE ACKNOWLEDGED I FEEL SEEEEEEN
What is sapphic
I think the basis is Phil likes asian style soups 😂 he might like soups from
Chinese cuisine, because its less blended vegetables and cream, more actual meats and vegtable pieces in the soup. And often eaten with a side of rice. The texture is different too! Watching phil eat mushroom soup was way too hilarious 😝
I second this
As someone with food texture sensory issues, i absolutely second this- Asian food >>>>
Also Korean soups i would recommend
I was about to comment something similar. In my country our soups are not blended vegetables and cream and when he said it i went ''what....what are you eating?''
right, like ramen is literally a soup, did phil never had ramen?
I think soup from most places isn’t blended. Cream soups are really only possible when blenders are involved in the production, and blenders are pretty new. Like he himself mentions minestrone which definetely isn’t blended. The base of all comfort food, chicken noodle soup, which i think exists in most places, isn’t blended.
Also reminder that east asia isn’t all asia
as someone whos a picky eater these videos mean a lot to me
I had a thought: did Dan warm any of these up first?? It’s never specified and now I’m concerned 😂
He did say something like "micrussy-waving" so I'm assuming that indicates heat? Also the fact that Phil was encouraged to blow on it
That's what I assumed the "one minute later" card was for.
yes lol that's why it went from the can/container into a bowl
Dan's laugh at 10:08 after Phil swears is sending me to the moon why did he laugh like that LMAO
text message sound material
IKR 😂
that's how you laugh when you're holding a spoon full of slimy broth and trying not to get it all over the entire room
he sounded like anthony padilla honestly 😭
I was so stressed Dan was going to just feed Phil cold soup 😅
seeing Lion and his family in the bg warms my heart
as a neurodivergent girlie who struggles to eat sometimes soup is my favorite thing bc it’s so EASY
at first i was shocked phil hated soup, now i’m sitting in disbelief at dan DEFENDING canned soup ☹️
Canned soup is literally the worst, it's just salt and water and the usually gross whisper of whatever flavor it's supposed to be. 😭
right, getting the objectively worst version of something is an interesting way to determine if you like it 😭
There are some great canned soups
we all want to make homemade soup for Phil now lmao
Soup tour through people's living rooms
Dude has never had real potato soup or real minestrone and it makes me weep
phil’s “can’t wait for my snack” at 5:28 gets me every time
i'm middle eastern (jordanian) and a popular dish of ours is mansaf, made with jameed, which is basically cheese soup. also the cheese used is goat's cheese (not cow) and you can tell lol. it's like we specifically engineered a nightmare food for phil. i hope he tries it one day :D . (it's heckin delicious)
we need a second part where he tries actual homemade soup instead of powder/canned soup, the flavor is SO much nicer when it's super fresh 😊
This video just made me unironically want so much soup
I made soup
I also made soup
@@kate_ishlol! 😂😂😂 how was your soup?
as a soup hater, phil is so much stronger than me... i always admire your courage 🫡
My husband also hates soup (he used to tell people he was allergic to soup as a kid), but I just can’t understand it. So warm, so comforting
Hello dear how are you doing?
The "cream of" part of cream of anything soup means it is a milk based soup instead of a water based soup!
wait I feel so enlightened now I know this information-
How did I get to 21 years of age before finding this out?
@@_dewdr0p_ dude same
10:46 “how do you get the chickens to cream? leave them alone” i’m still laughing
Phil instinctively swearing in the videos that he is forced to eat things he doesn’t like will never not be funny to me
the insistence on bread's role in soup is the most european thing ive heard in a while
9:00
as a soupy sapphic witch, I thank you, Dan, for the acknowledgement
i was offended at first then realize your soup are different than what i used to have lmao. Seeing how phil love the coconut milk one, you should try asian food more, we got chucks, like big chucks of actual veggie and meat and to chew.
LOL same as someone that grew up with chinese soup, I absolutely adore soup and was so horrified by the beginning of this video...and then I saw what dan was serving him and was just like...erm 👀😬🤢
These “soups” are really just a base for actual soup, I don’t think anyone would describe what Dan brought as regular soul
probably the weirdest soup thing I do is use cream of mushroom soup as a base for when I am making pasta sauce. side note: one of the best food combos is tomato soup with grilled cheese, but that would probably haunt Phil's nightmares
The coconut one was the one that actually vibed like food. Please make Phil do this again but with more Asian soups.
i really think some of these should’ve been like potato soup or chicken noodle. those are classics and it’s really hard to not like them. cream of anything isn’t gonna be as good as those
Idk bro I've never quite been able to stomach chicken noodle especially from a can
chicken noodle is an affront to god, but potato soup might've converted him
literally not giving him potato soup is criminal, i don't like most soups but it's my FAVORITE
The 'classics' in the UK are very different to classics in the US. Heinz cream of tomato and cream of chicken are definitely the most popular soups by far. Potato and leek is a thing but much less common, just potato on it's own isn't even a thing, and chicken noodle soup is a pretty new American import. The soups Dan got, as gross as they may be to some, are the soups of my childhood and I defend him 100% on this (this is coming from someone who loves making homemade soup but I know I'm the minority in the UK, tinned soup is the norm)
@@charlottekesterton3822thissss I’m a northener n didn’t even know potato soup was a thing until these comments hahaha
Dan has immediately ruined the concept of soup by calling it spicy bread lube
is he wrong?
when i say i am having soup what i really mean is i want to eat an entire baguette with soup as a drizzle
Wonton soup and hot and sour soup are sooo good and have a lot more flavour, definitely need a part 2!
Obsessed with the toddler energy phil is giving in this video
dalien core
can’t imagine what you would feel if you had to eat the classic combo of grilled cheese and tomato soup
He would just walk out 😂
Maybe better cause it would be more like a dip?
phil you need to try french onion soup. it's one of my favs! i would reccomend a homemade version though, the store version is suuuuuper salty 😭
As a fellow soup hater in a soup loving world, I feel validated. Phil might like more hearty soups or stews. I'm a big stew fan personally
Yeah - I found potato based soups much easier to handle eating (like a thin vegetable stew) compared to cream based soups or broth with bits of barley etc in them
It’s like Phil said - the stew needs to serve a purpose in bringing carbs to me and once the carbs have been delivered the soup’s purpose is gone and I want to stop eating it
I even eat stew on bread half the time
“Do I chew?” As a genuine question made me cackle so hard
"It's not a punishment, it's bread" 2018 me finally being freed from the chains of diet culture
literally having a big bowl of beef and vegetable soup right now lol, i guess this just means there's more soup for the rest of us!!
In my mind cream of chicken and cream of mushroom are not meant to be eaten as soups, they're meant to be base ingredients in other dishes (one of which could be a soup). I thought the same when Dan brought out the "chicken broth" but at least it had veggies in it instead of being just broth.
My little brother and I used to eat soup after school all the time in the winter. Id heat up some heinz cream of tomato, stick it in a groovy chick bowl, butter us some bread and then we'd literally sit down to watch yalls videos together. This was in like 2010 or something. Soup is like the definition of wholesome family food
Groovy chick bowl is so real
Phil please try any variety of Asian soups! The entire continent will make you love soup, esp if you order from a restaurant; wonton, ramen, bun bo hue, dahl, tom yum, maligathani, etc. There are so many textures and flavours, and it’s usually not blended, you shouldn’t give up!
Yes omg!!
Bro thai soups had me in a chokehold when I first started exploring more cuisine, they are so bomb. Tom kha kai is still probably one of my favorite things to eat in general
That's what I was thinking when first starting this video. Asian soups are so lovely. I feel like Phil would appreciate them a lot more.
I've waited to watch this, because now I can't remember if I've always hated soup or if I adopted that a decade ago when I adopted every other part of my personality from this man 😭
4:44 phil’s eyes darting around like he’s trapped in a cage is hilarious
Love that the tinsel is styled to look like an incredibly long extravagant scarf for the golden pig
i love how none of us knew he hated soup, this is new phil lore
Tomato soup is top tier if you're not feeling well it's a comfort food
Hello beautiful how are you doing?
honestly could go for some rn 🙏
I love soup, especially creamy mushroom soup. Also, you should try more soup in different cultures, Asian soups are sooo good.
Btw, what makes ramen ramen is mostly the soup. Fight me.
We need more of grandma's lore, she is such a mood!!!
anytime phil utter the word "Grandma" in a video i will be on the edge of my seat waiting to hear more about her

Phil's really leaning into his northern nature by picturing being cold in the mines 😂😂

The man doesn’t even like cheese. He’s just weird, yall, you cannot change him

I need a part two of this, but with you two going to an actual restaurant to eat not canned soup, and if phil doesn’t like it, dan should eat it. It doesn’t have to be in the same day, i don’t think anyone could eat more than a whole bowl of soup a day lol
as someone who has been trying to battle food anxieties recently by trying new things, i'm proud of you Phil! Claps for Phil indeed! 👏

@@witchygoblin Aw thank you so much! Yeah, it's tough, but I'm proud of what I've done so far✨
I had that too, and something that worked well for me to overcome this was finding good-looking recipes online and cutting the ingredients down so I’d only make half of one portion or one portion. (So if a recipe says it makes 4 servings, I’d only use 1/8 or 1/4 of the stated ingredients and adjust the cooking time). This helped me to not get overwhelmed when trying to cook new foods and also I’d not feel dissapointed when I didn’t like what I’d made (sensory issues I have)!
my aunt makes me soup every sunday and it’s so good with a french loaf
every time phil talks of his hatred of mushrooms i forgive for his hatred of cheese
