Thank you very much for this tutorial. Even when I follow your tutorials for several months, I appreciated this video, and I learned that it is not necessary to let dry the second layer! I even had before this impression, that in between the second and the third layer there is or can be a smooth transition. I observed this especially in your landscapes aquarelles, but also in other ones ...
Hi Nitin. Peter from Noosa Australia. I have used the layer technique on a lot of watercolours. Your instruction will be of great help to a lot of artists that get a bit lost in watercolour. Keep up your good work, you will have a loyal following.
Thank you too! I have been looking for this for so long - something that shows the beginning steps. I do botanicals but struggle with layering. Keep giving these kinds of lessons :)
Nitin, Thank you for a very clear descriptive lesson and we can see your color palette, that is awesome, now we know how dilute or strong is the colors you mix.
Oh my gosh!vive needed this video more than i can express in words. Thank you, thank you for perfectly demonstrating and explaining. Your art is spectacular.
Once again a great vedio that teaches the basics of watercolour. Thank you for your regular vedios on youtube. They are of tremendous help especially given the current lock down situations. Stay safe.
Hello, Nitin. It seems there was no down time between the second and third layers, eh? I appreciate this style of learning and I imagine at some point they blend together as it becomes intuitive and takes on a flow of its own. I am a rank beginner and a slow learner to boot, so I imagine this will take me plenty of time, LOL! Cheers to you and thank you for your excellent videos!
nice stuff, Nitin! this style suits the landscapes and architecture, I also mean the colour palette you use...what about still life and human portraits? I'm also an artist and looking for different styles and ways to improvise. Thank you!)
I would appreciate if you please let me know what type of watercolors do you recommend. I paint with oil paints at the moment. Can you use vibrant colors for the last layer? I love to paint with vibrant colors. Thanks so much for your time and effort. Great inspiration for beginners. Many blessings.
this is a great tutorial :) i have some questions though, do you have to wait for 2nd layer to dry also? and what kind of pencil do you use for the sketch?
Ideally you should let them dry too, but most cases if you don’t see much touch up in third layer then you can finish your third layer while second layer is still wet. I’m using graphite 6B pencil
Hi ! This simplier explanation make me want to take your class even more.... But, please tell me when you add the last 4 th drawing with details... So for this last one, is there also a 'waiting to dry' step ? It is nor mentioned. I just want to be very sure for the last waiting dry section... Thanks so much ! Teri
You can do either way in last layer. Depending on how much work you feel left for last layer. If no much work involved in last layer then try to finish it your third layer without waiting second layer to get dry. Hope you got me
Waves @ Nitin! Thanks for this video! I am practicing layering now, and use many layers with different water/paint ratios, glazing. I often use wet in wet, dry, then go in wet on dry...no special rhyme or reason, but more intuitive a process, do you know what I mean? I see your brush strokes often seem intuitive as well. If you ever made a video about it, I'd love to see it.
I got what you’re saying and there is nothing wrong doing that. Such experiments always gives some thing unexpected. I take a note of your suggested tutorial, thank you.
I suggest you tape up your paper on the table with masking tape so it won't move while you're painting and you don't have to pin it with your fingers :)
Which paper it is and colour? I tried camlin artist clr on canson wtrclr ppr but it didn't blend much well.. How to fix it.. Why it is happened? Plz hlp
Thank you, Nitin. I so enjoy your guidance. I love your smile.
Thank you
Fantastic.....your joy is contagious...I think I may loosen up!
Thank you
Thanks so much! You are one of the few showing clearly the layering process that causes so much dubts to us begginers.
For that , a big thanks!
Thank you so much and best wishes for your art journey
Thank you so much. An important lesson. Wanted to ask that 2nd layer dries and then only 3rd layer. Or we can proceed with it damp? Regards
one of a kind tutorial, very good job showing what is meant by layers.
Kudos. Very well demonstrated. God bless you.
Great Video Nitin, this is very helpful! Thank you
Thank you. I’m new to painting and not a fan of watercolors yet. I’m not ready to give up
Very soon you will enjoy this medium
Much appreciated. Thanks for showing in so much detail.

Thank you so much just one question. Does the second layer has to be completely dry just like the first layer before finishing the artwork?
Is that a stable brush Nitin?
Very nice for beginners

Thanks for the amazing tutorial as always...I have a question for the third layer do I have to wait for the second layer to dry?
Ideally you should let them try before working on third layer.
Where is this? Is the landscape Santiago de Chile? Looks like it!
Nitin singh
thanks for replying anyways I had a doubt that what watercolor method do you prefer?
I enjoy after dry techniques
Ok ok thanks
Nice one....
Nitin - Try taping the watercolor sheets and you'll eliminate the fingerprints and it makes a nice border.
Oh yes generally I do that, thank you

can you tell me the best papers and brushes names
All brands are good, just decide u want to go for expensive one or cost effective papers. escoda brushes are good
How does it not reactivate the previous layers?
You're my Indian guy teacher
Sir , please make a video on colour wheel
Oh sure, I will note of this request
Νeed of 2 chinese brushes, one soft and one harder?
The idea is good as a lesson but you did a mistake by covering all the first layer , first layer must not be covered completely.
As I’m working in tiny seat of paper you can’t see those left out first layers. But I agree with u that first layer should be visible as required
why do you sat you know ? we dont know.
Thank you for sharing. Awesome your job.
