@@shrimp3487 Blues are different. Lubing them can kill some of the click, which in turn tames the rattle, which can be a good thing, seeing how many people hate the rattly nature of them. Never tried blues myself though.
since the clicking mechanism is different with jades and royals, lubing doesn't affect the click as long as you dont lube the click bar, I have speed bronze that also use a click bar and lubed them and the click isn't compromised at all.
Note that these are already lubed, but pretty lightly. Mainly on the bump that pushes the contact piece and some on the bottom of the spring, on the couple I took apart. So it's lubed vs more thoroughly lubed!
The feel of the lubed switch changes over time as it breaks in and gets mixed with dust and ground up switch plastic. It will be "lubed" forever, but if you want to maintain the feeling of a freshly lubed switch you'll have to clean it out and relube it.
It depends on a lot of factors, I lubed my gat yellows with krytox 105 just a few weeks ago and its slightly wearing off on a few switches that have had a few hundred thousand key presses since then
Thank you so much for this. I ordered some Jades a couple months ago and that ping is driving me insane. I was only going to lube the housing to reduce any sort of amplification but I'm glad that it works for the stem and click bar. Would you recommend the spring too?
It depends on what "lubing" consists of because these switches are actually lubed from factory, although it's just a small amount of lube on the plastic that actuates the switch as well as a little on the lower spring area. But yeah, I wouldn't slather these, or many other clickies, with lube. Especially the click mechanism.
Imagine lubing clicky switches
call me dumb but i actually lubed my blue switches and it kinda sounds better than before. its still noisy but not as loud as before

Yeah, all i can hear now is the "clack" sound not the "click"
There's this one dude who recommends lubing ONLY the spring in blue switches as it improves the switch and removes the ping noise from the spring.

Can you make one with keycaps on? 😊
I will make 1 soon

stock means unmodified, not unlubed.
@@saltyitalianguy3243 Yes no argument there. The video title, however, uses "stock" to describe unlubed, or rather the light factory lube.
How is 2018 6 years ago 😭
Why would you lube a clicky?
Agreed. They make it sound less clickly. I can't live like that.
How long does switch lubing last?
Depends on the quality/viscosity/chemicals of the lube

Usually 4 years.

@@rishinagireddy1088 It is not a click jacket switch, is a click bar switch. Lube everything except the click bar and it will be fine.
Thank you. I was wondering if I should do this to my White and Navy GK64 board. It looks like you have the same one?
Yes. The keyboard used in the video is indeed a GK64. However I have since sold the board due to the left 2u shift layout.
always lube if you can
Could you do a sound test for the whole kb? As i have coincidentally parted out a near identical build... lol
I am making it
Could you please do a comparison with keycaps on?

11 months later, but yeah, the majority of the ping comes from the spring lol.
Is there even a point to lube a clicky switches other than improving how smooth it is? in terms of sounds it will just drown any minor detail anyway
You can still hear spring ping in a stock clicky. Lubing the spring will remove the ping while keeping its clickiness intact.
Did this guys just lubed a clicky switch? 😂

It's a click bar so its totally fine.
Where do can I find this keyboard good sir?
Late reply, but I am pretty sure it is the GK64, look up on the internet

From the Sound without Keycaps i think Jade Stock is the Best! =D
Which one is quieter after lubing in your opinion?
navy will be due to less relative tactility; heavier spring
which you prefer? Jade or Navy?
@Lkyseler jades and navies have the same clickbar just saying.
j a d e
@@krakenjm6877 not really. jades have a shallower tone i think

Why do you think the keyboard is optical?
what keycap set is this?
TYFYS
test it with keycaps on
these sound like mouse switches
Ayo we got the same keycaps
what are the keycaps?
edit: nevermind, they come with the Epomaker SK64
you should make a video about the lube process.
is it mostly for the spring and click bar?
i lubed my box pinks like i would any other switch and they sound pretty based
bro rly lubed clicky switches
same!?
can i use box switches on my gk61?
If it's not optical, yes.
those clicks tho
