Upon reading this I feel the sudden urge to try to be as cool as possible
I feel like out of all of songs that are tied to dave i feel like this one embodies dave the most. It's like what dave would be if he didn't have to turn up the cool kid act to 1000% most of the time. Just a cool and chillin dude in Texas,,,,who also confused about his sexuality but that's a conversation for another time. Also i like how there's davesprite in this theme.

It sounds like he mixed this himself. This is chill asf. I like the jazzy vibes, it reminds me of his improvisational rapping style. It also sounds confused at some parts, but probably makes perfect sense to him, which also reminds me of how he just does his own thing and doesn't worry about other people "getting it." You either vibe and get it or you don't. That's all there really is to say on the matter.
i honestly yelled when i heard those sonic 3 boss samples in there. hits me RIGHT in the metaphorical nostalgia ballsack.
also, i like that james chose to use davesprite as the main melody rather than beatdown. i feel like beatdown is more representative of the kind of person dave is being forced to be - always on edge, high-energy, never allowed to slow down or relax. the davesprite leitmotif fits dave as a character more. it's still got energy to it, but it's a more controlled energy, with a certain level of almost sadness to it to hammer in how goddamn fucked up and tired this kid is.

That motif is actually Sunslammer, which usually tends to get remixed at a similar energy level to Beatdown, but yeah, Davesprite did a great job making it chill.

Fotu That’s how it is on most merch and non-pixelated art, because in cannon all the shirt symbols are smooth, while the record is an actual pixelated record.

actually, I'm really happy to hear this canonized somewhat as Dave's theme.
I heard the tune ages ago (like 2009/10) as a WIP beta track called Hawkeye, which I presume was created in response to the teaser of Dave's seppucrow sprite. Basically, this track was Dave's version of Nannasprite's "Harlequin."
Hawkeye was later remixed into tracks like Sunsetter, and later still, Sunslammer.
It's flat nice seeing it reassociated to the OG here, where it should be.
@Luis Hernandez-Diaz Bit late, but from dirks route we learn that its not actually davesprite and is in fact dave which godteirs and everything. Sunslammer and davesprite are more dave centric pieces despite one not actually named after him. The first dave sprite represents both daves while Davesprite2 represents davesprite later on

Ever think about how this is a mix of Beatdown and Davesprite’s theme because this IS Davesprite, and not the same Dave we spend the majority of the comic with?

Wrong, alpha dave is the one dave that cannot be davesprite. Davesprite is from a failed timeline.

Sorry, I’d thought that the original timeline got messed up, so they had to redo it, which would mean that the original course of events was what led to the creation of davesprite. My bad. I’m not positive, then, if the original (not alpha) Dave, the one that we follow, was the one who went and became a bird.
it could be either one, since the decision that caused the offshoot hasn't happened yet when this takes place.
As a matter of fact, it is both of them at the same time, according to Shrödinger. At least it is up to this moment.
