Lava only turns to obsidian if water’s poured on it. If it’s poured into water, it’ll turn the water into stone.

I mean technically Mario shouldnt be able to stand that close to lava without burning up anyway. Even if the heat wasnt a problem, there's always the toxic fumes they give off.

arrows are just slower, more controllable fireballs.
3:04 Goombas canonically have some sort of high-friction something on their feet which makes them less vulnerable to slipping. Look at their SMO capture. The Koopa and Bully that you showcase have similar looking feet.

Justification for ice:
Goombas - In super mario odyssey, in sand kingdom, before you fight the hand guy (don’t remember their name), there are goombas and they don’t slip on ice.
Koopa Troopa - Super mario odyssey again. In snow kingdom, there is a trace-walking minigame. I’m assuming from this that they don’t slip on ice.
Bullies - There is a species of bullies in super mario 64 in snowman’s land that I don’t think slips on ice.
Finally, a comment who doesn't just talk about the goombas.

Happy Gamer Mario is a confirmed different species, he is a soul that can possess the vessel of anything as confirmed by Odyssey. The actual body you see in many Mario games is likely just a personality of the mushroom kingdom. It’s possible that the mushroom kingdom grows their own species (mushroom people? Like toads?) and the Mario and Luigi spirits just take on those forms. However Mario being a human looking personality when possessing a mushroom kingdom specie creates the tie in from looking like a half toad and half human (with the cartoon human features but the height and build of the toads (the grown species). Interesting theory I came up with. It would be sweet to see the Mario movie explore this.

That one with the Ice-physics doesnt count at all. In SMO Cappy just tells you to capture a goomba because they dont slip. So it kind of is a skill of those enemies :3

Mario's universe has walking and talking mushrooms, no enemies, floating blocks, living skeletons, flying enemies and objects that are able to fly using some damn wings, controllable clouds, weird car with a small propeller that manages to keep the balance of the vehicle and make it act like a helicopter, less than 25 humans, living paper, springs that cannot be rotated, humanoid turtles, firebreathing turtles, hammer turtles, flying spiky beetles, giant beetles, giant flying beetles, spiky beetles, giant flying spiky beetles, beetles that can walk on walls and have spike on their back, bigger version of wallcliming beetles, powerups that grow out of blocks, move without any legs, arms, anything that can help them move, pipes, plants that eat humans, dinosaurs, technology without even accessing civilization, flying ground blocks, flying vines, mushrooms that revive you, rainbows and clouds you can stand on, pipes that can generate everything, infinite golden coins, etc...
You get the idea.
Yet you decided to ask why doesnt mario or anyone else get burnt when they're near the angry sun.

the fall damage one is kinda for a reason. This is a platformer, where levels aren't usally tall, more long. Plus, in SM64, it has fall damage because it's a 3D space, and if you could fall down, for example, a mountain without being hurt would be too op.

Mario also can jump something like 5 times his height when small, but only about 3 times his height when larger. He also holds his breath for eternity, dies immediately on touching poison, and manages to get the energy to traverse great distances, running and jumping the whole time, with just a few mushrooms and flowers to sustain him.

The whole game is about a plumber jumping on turtles and saving the princess of toads from a shell-spiked dinosaur.
It makes absolutely no sense that spike balls thrown by spikes in smb1 arent affected by gravity...
especially when blocking them with a shield all of a sudden makes them affected by gravity
- In SMW, how hard does Mario hit his head with the cape, to cause a Pow explosion? How does he not have a concussion?
- I'm not 100% certain, but does giving a Thwomp a parachute affect how hard it hits something? A test could be to see how high both types of Thwomp send an item/Mario/enemy on a Seesaw. More of a Myth but interesting nonetheless.
- Why does only Bowser have a Cat form? Goombas had one and they aren't in Mario Maker right?

It's the fact that the sun is tiny, swooping down to attack him, and that it's not the main source of light, doesn't bother him. The fact that Mario doesn't burn while next to it bothers him.
