The primitive bush Mondo is fantastic, it takes down dry bamboo an inch thick with one or two chops every time. Works better than a heavy cane knife I own. I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it, I’m honestly tempted to buy more up since they’re discontinued but you can still find them fairly readily.
I have quite a few Condor knives I have picked up over the years. I read in a brochure from that the holes in the Condor blades are used to bend test the blades. They are decently priced, quality tools. Thanks for the review.
On most machetes the hole is to hang it on a nail. The sheath is made like a traditional Central American machete sheath. I have a 16" sheath I bought in Yaviza Panama that looks similar.
Bryan, I have one of these and I found that if you put a lanyard on the knife that fits tight to the hand the knife won't slip when you chop. Great blade, great video. Man, I wish I could throw knives as you throw. It is a thing of beauty and talent.
Just bought this knife myself. I'm going to use it a few weeks before i decide how good it is. I've been using my BR Jx5V1, BR SquadLeader2, Condor Undertaker bowie lately. Edc in the br sl2 in fact. Ohh and testing several Trackers styles. Moorhaus & cfk designs.
Joe Flowers spoke about the hole about a year ago. It's called the "Eye of the Condor" and is purely aesthetic. Pine can work fairly well for a bow drill as long as it's dry and not full of resin. I'd recommend a piece from the tip of the limb. Great review, as usual, thanks my friend.
For the price point and what you can do with it’s a great knife. It really sacrifices most other traits to be a better chopper than a regular bush craft knife. This is definitely a good candidate for being a large camp knife. Not a huge fan of 420HC because it’s about as soft as a cheap axe. Would love it if it was slightly harder, sub 62 hrc, but without going into fancy super steels.
Thanks Brian. Appreciate your approach & content. My daughter was listening to vid as I watched and she got tickled at the "handy dandy note" quote. We both laughed. She said " I wasn't ready for a Blues Clues quote. Nor was I. Nice simple comedy. I assume these knives are American made.
I'm a huge condor fan. They are affordable and very good knives. I grabbed the primitive folder and love it. I think I have more condor then any other brand. 2018 condor line up is without a doubt gonna break my bank. Otzi knife I'm dying to get and the terrasaur (a Joe Flowers mora). Also both of Walters blade look amazing
Oh, wow! I must be getting hooked! I now find myself actually looking for that skunk! LOL! Anyhoo...Keep up the great reviews and honest testing for "ordinary folks" like me. I may think about this knife being added to my collection. God bless you and yours!
So glad to hear you getting back to the basics, brother. Love your knife reviews, and love most things Condor. Have a Condor parang that is so easy and ergonomic I use it all the time outside for a multiple of tasks. About this knife: perhaps it would chop better if you had a lanyard through the back grommet. That will secure the grip mo' better and give you a little more swing...maybe.
I have one with the micarta handle. I believe it was the 2nd edition of this knife and based on memory I believe it's supposed to be made out of a harder steel than the original. It's a cool knife but mine didnt hold up and actually I saw deformations in the edge when chopping through pine. I admit I probably just got unlucky. The hole in the blade is a brand mark "eye of the condor". Funnily enough my favorite part of the knife is the sheath, I really like how it just slips securely into your belt. It's a cool knife but I kinda regret getting it, It now sits in the door pocket on my truck and I don't really see it going anywhere else
I too found the handle to be a bit slippery. I solved this by tightly wrapping the handle with leather shoelace, an idea I picked up from the photo of his original in his book "Epic Survival".
I have been looking forward to this :) Beautiful knife! There really is something extremely eye pleasing in the design of that knife. Reminds me of certain types of bronze age blades. And the sheath is equally beautiful. It is definitely on my " Knives to get" list along with Condor Huron and Bushlore with micarta handle. I might go with the micarta handle with that one as well. And for once they are all available here too ;) Great review as always Bryan! Have a great weekend :) Big thumbs up!
You have gotten your money's worth from that piece of fatwood, and it is still going! Matt Graham walks the walk of a "survivalist" and he trusts his life to that knife, so it must be a solid knife. I do think I would like micarta better, personally. Thanks Bryan for showing it.
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to use that knife. With all of the different types of knives available today, what would be the all inclusive types, sizes and number of knives to choose for surviving in the wild.
Got another off subject question. I herd schrade sold to Smith and Wesson so in the last year or since the sale of it happened what's your thoughts on schrade quality? Same or better or worse? I have one from 2016 and love it but it's a 10 inch blade bowie. I want to try a 6 inch camp knife
I like the review & the knife i have it but i cant get it sharp or any of my other knifes i really dont know how any tips suggestions or reviews for that thanks
Nice video and helpful review. For some reason I had it in my head that you were opposed to batoning. Did I misremember that? If you did indeed change your stance on the matter, what caused that to happen?
one lb of titanium Russian E tool, several saw blades, to be held in the visegrip of my modified Crunch mult-too. totale weight 1.5 lbs and it can do at least 10x more things than any belt knife can do. The sort of stuff that you really NEED to do in the bush.
I've owned one for about 3 years I love it it shows it's true usefulness on extended trips not a big fan of the sheath my son-in-law designed and built me a custom Kydex which is much more functional for my use closest thing to a do-all knife on a long Trek that I've found so far Condor makes one of the best knives especially when you consider the price.
This knife must be a good one because it certainly gets good reviews all the way around, I've never held it myself so I can't say from first hand experience. What I will say is not a condemnation in any way just an observation... The knife looks like a fish. Turn it sideways... Cool video Bryan, I am glad to see the return of knife reviews and B.O.A.R.D. testing on your channel and... that's one brave skunk!
I would bet money that Matt would say that that hole is for straightening arrow blanks. apparently it's also representative of the eye says folx below in the comments. it also cuts a bit of weight.. but i'm certain it's to straighten arrow shaft blanks. heat up the shaft blank over the fire and stick it in that hole. bend it straight until it cools. then move to the next bend. you can fix some decent crowns that way. works better than a knee cap.
Big knife. Handle? My hands are always dry so all my wood handle knives are slippery for me. I cure that by rubbing some of my bowstring makers wax (contains beeswax) on the handles. Makes them tacky and helps to preserve the wood at same time.
I own one and have used it on several trips. It shows it's true usefulness on extended outings. Not a big fan of the sheath but my son in law custom designed and made a workable kidex sheath. Despite the size it is one of the closest knife I have that does it all and the more I use it the more I like it.
Not a thing wrong with a little batoning. 75 percent of the people watching this video will never trek more than fifty feet from their 4x4 suv anyway so survival is not priority.
Very cool knife Brian! Need one of these. Hey you could put a small pinky ring loop lanyard at the bottom to mitigate that slippage some..."Boudreaux...we ain't pinchin CRAWDAD tails no, we tryin to start a FAR!!! LOL! Don't be slippin round you! Great Video. I hope YT doesn't ban B.O.A.R.D. Testing too. Ya might wanna use dat on a BOAR...PEA EYE GEE HOG DAT IS...hahaha!
Got one of these for 10 bucks at a pawn shop! I love it. They were smart to sharpen both sides of the tip.
good deal

I think this is your first full knife review since last year. Good to see one and hear that there will be more coming. Good review too.
Thanks
I love mine. If I would've bought this first this would've been my end all knife because its a super versatile design.
Happy your doing knives again. Condor came out with some nice knives this year.
Yes they dis
I have quite a few Condor knives I have picked up over the years. I read in a brochure from that the holes in the Condor blades are used to bend test the blades. They are decently priced, quality tools. Thanks for the review.
If I'm not mistaken that hole is supposed to represent the eye of a condor. It's also on some of their other knives and machetes.
So I heard.
CSharp i
So what...eye of the condor...dumb. Great knife/tool.
On most machetes the hole is to hang it on a nail.
The sheath is made like a traditional Central American machete sheath. I have a 16" sheath I bought in Yaviza Panama that looks similar.

Practice and editing ;-)
I love this blade. I have the ss version.
I also bought several other matt graham blades. Mondo, big leaf too.
I have the micarta version of this knife which is also 1075 high carbon. I really like the design! It was great seeing you do another knife review!
Just got mine this morning. I rubbed beeswax on the handle and snowseal on the sheath. Been testing it on seasoned apple wood. Held an edge well.
I like that blade a lot and the wooden handle. It's a beast without having to carry a short sword.
It really is Charles
You're a pleasant guy to watch and listen to.🌲🌲🌲
Well thanks
Seems to be a great all rounder with that 8" blade and not so thick spine. Thanks for sharing Brian 👍
And balanced
nice to see the old B.O.A.R.D. lab back in business!
Yes it is
Just bought this knife myself.
Cool
I have one and it's one of my favorites in my knife collection ! Really like the weight and balance !
me too

BluesClues, good one Love the blade AWESOME as always
I need a thinking chair
There are a lot of videos on this knife but you did great job!
Thanks. I appreciate it.

Nice simple comedy.
I assume these knives are American made.
Actually, no. They are made in El Salvador.
Kinda...
El Salvador, which is in the Amaricas. Central America.
I'm a huge condor fan. They are affordable and very good knives. I grabbed the primitive folder and love it. I agree
They are starting to use some 1095 this year
Survival On Purpose they sure are. I'm personally happy with their 1075. It's a good steel I think. But I will most definitely live with 1095
乇volve Outdoors they do great job with their 440c I think. My Mayflower has the 440c. And 440c also is not bad at all
I use this knife and wrapped the handle with leather for grip. Works well and makes it perfect.
Cool
Oh, wow! I must be getting hooked! I now find myself actually looking for that skunk! LOL! Anyhoo...Keep up the great reviews and honest testing for "ordinary folks" like me. I may think about this knife being added to my collection. God bless you and yours!

Thanks for another great video
Thanks for watching
Thanks Bryan, love those knife reviews!
I miss them myself.
Thanks for sharing, great video as usual! God bless
Thanks

Getting back to SOME basics. I hope to keep doing some firearms stuff too because I like it.

I have one. It's my favorite knife.
Oops. Just found a video of yours that answered all my questions. Thanks.
:-)
Matt. Would this make a general all round good throwing knife would you suggest? I don't do bush craft, but do a lot of throwing?
Great review thanks 👌
Well it is not a Schrade Saturday, but I like Condor Tool & Knife Inc. just as much.
Thanks for the video and review!
Thanks for watching.
Hello Bryan! I love that knife! Great throwing 👍 excellent review.
It is a fun blade
Cool blade, thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching.
Great video as always!
Thanks. I appreciate it.
I too found the handle to be a bit slippery. I solved this by tightly wrapping the handle with leather shoelace, an idea I picked up from the photo of his original in his book "Epic Survival".
👍👍
I like me some condor.
I’d say she’s balanced pretty good.
Indeed

I like the Micarta handle version myself Jani
Just ordered one today... $106 on Amazon now (6 years later)...
Dang. Has it been 6 years already?
You have gotten your money's worth from that piece of fatwood, and it is still going! Matt Graham walks the walk of a "survivalist" and he trusts his life to that knife, so it must be a solid knife. I do think I would like micarta better, personally. Thanks Bryan for showing it.
So would I
Yay for the balance test!
Yay indeed
Once more, thank you for your honest review. Appears to be well balanced 😁
It is
GREAT VID AS ALWAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to use that knife. With all of the different types of knives available today, what would be the all inclusive types, sizes and number of knives to choose for surviving in the wild.
E uscito da un bel pezzo questo Primitive.
yep
Nice review. Yesterday, 23 March 2018, Battlbox had a one day sale in their shop on this knife for $59.
Well, I guess I'm a day late and a dollar short
Awesome .ya got to throw it thanks
Any time

What do you do with the knives that break? Or don’t past the muster to make it?
I would be afraid to lose it with that belt attachment method. The sheath does look nice though.
It is cool
Great review Bryan take care and stay safe my friend.
You too
I will be getting the big leaf machete
Nice throw!
Thanks
Nice video ciao from roma italia
Thanks
I thought you were gonna throw it at the skunk for a second. LOL
Skunk? What skunk?
I like the review & the knife i have it but i cant get it sharp or any of my other knifes i really dont know how any tips suggestions or reviews for that thanks
Maybe these will help; ruclips.net/video/LpelMyXXV1M/видео.html ruclips.net/video/6Pewsiph5VI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_r1V7sUFSjM/видео.html
Yes they did thanks a bunch!
You remind me of Dave Emery . I have a old bow hunting video of him that was outstanding. But you sound just like him
Hmmm.
Great Review
Thanks
saludos des mexico
Nice video and helpful review. For some reason I had it in my head that you were opposed to batoning. Did I misremember that? If you did indeed change your stance on the matter, what caused that to happen?
Nope. You may be thinking about my “What idiot would baton a knife “ video.
Survival On Purpose yes, that is the video title I remember seeing. I'll watch it. Thanks for your response.
Lol Who are you crocodile Dundee ? Great review! 👍🏻
Thanks. I appreciate it.
I love mine! It resides in my wife's get-home-bag.
You must love her too.
If you plan on keeping both hands, never never never ever chop towards the other hand
Nice one Sweet review

;-)
Brian, that is the second time I have seen the skunk. haha
Skunk? What skunk?
lol
Eye of the condor
So I heard
Matt is cool!
Yes he is
All I ask is that the condor undertaker operator and budson bay knives are reviewed if thats done I will be forever happy.
We will see
What the Hole for ?? But I think you can attach that blade hole out side bag with carabiner. or make a Spear
It is decorative. Some other people told me it is supposed to be the eye of the Condor
haaaa
I've owned one for about 3 years I love it it shows it's true usefulness on extended trips not a big fan of the sheath my son-in-law designed and built me a custom Kydex which is much more functional for my use closest thing to a do-all knife on a long Trek that I've found so far Condor makes one of the best knives especially when you consider the price.

Could be
I think Blues Clues would be improved by the guy carving into his handy dandy stone tablet😁👍 while all of the children learn ancient Sumatran.
Good review bud
Thanks Steve
Looks like it did ok but I’m surprised it didn’t chop a little better.
It's not an axe.
Survival On Purpose No kidding but it couldn’t even chop through a small branch. Whatever.
Survival On Purpose Been watching your channel for years and make a constructive comment and get a jerk answer. Nice!!
🇺🇸👊🏻
Thanks Jon
Wingman115 isnt it produced in el salvador?
Big knife. Handle? My hands are always dry so all my wood handle knives are slippery for me. I cure that by rubbing some of my bowstring makers wax (contains beeswax) on the handles. Makes them tacky and helps to preserve the wood at same time.
Thanks
Oi cara mata a curiosidade está faca você pode vender no Brasil se sim falar o preço
love the if you don't like batoning i don't care. lol
Well. I don't. My new response to all the anti baton ranters is going to be "OK"
The hole is the eye of the condor.
Indeed
I think the hole is 4 fish where I'm from they bite back
All righty then ;-)
@@SurvivalOnPurpose I liked your review seemed very honest so I actually bought this knife today
Is this the first comment?
If there was a chance, it would be interesting to see Matt play the SOP theme
I own one and have used it on several trips. It shows it's true usefulness on extended outings. Not a big fan of the sheath but my son in law custom designed and made a workable kidex sheath. Despite the size it is one of the closest knife I have that does it all and the more I use it the more I like it.
That would be cool
i dig the sheath
Bush rafters be high on fat wood 😂
Man I sure was hoping it was made from a good carbon steel.
Very "gladius"
I wrapped my handle with hockey stick tape. That helped a lot.
I bet it did
You shouldn't hold the sheath that way when you draw the knife. If the blade wore through the sheath it could cut you real bad.
good point
love matt graham but not a fan of his knife to big and bulky for my taste atleast
Different strokes...

That sucks to have annoying dogs behind you man tell their owners to train them

Video is great,
but the knife isn't
I disagree
WORST. MUSIC. EVER.
( and plenty of it)
Douche
Matt Gran is a cool cat but that knife is a piece of junk.
Stick with any mora and you will be better off 👍
Piece of junk? I have to completely disagree. It may not be for everyone but it is certainly Not a piece of junk.
