My husband and I saw this production. It was wonderful ,with, then ,great special effects using a giant gauze across the stage. E.N.O. at its, best with a double chorus and excellent cast.

This was a wonderful production and the appearance of the ship at the beginning beautiful. I loved the way Norman Bailey's voice rode over the orchestra - it had a lovely edge to it. He and Josephine Barstow were magnificent together. A wonderful night at the opera!

Barstow was at the height of her career here and she really outstanding. Bailey was past his best and often sounds strained especially at the top of the voice - but it was always such a glorious sound. Thank you!

I saw the revival of this production with Neil Howlet as the Dutchman a vivid exciting production Sadly they don’t make them like that Interesting that David Pountney went on to do a very different production for WNO very controversial with BTerfel
