This channel is the reason I did my first solo camping trip. Maybe it was in a family friendly campground. But baby steps! Thanks for sharing your journey! ❤️
Erin Soto That’s amazing! Way to go on putting yourself out there ❤️
Montana State Police are warning drivers that a pair of britches have been seen on the road at night. Police urge motorists to approach with caution.
This hike through the Bob showed yes, how wild and beautiful that landscape is. I used to live up that way just west of Glacier Park and remember so well the deep fall with the colors and the first snow on the peaks. I hiked the parallel trail up the North Fork Flathead and around Eureka. This video brought back a nostalgia for that awesome country. I'm thankful that you were able to make this epic trip and kept the bears at a safe distance and shared it with us.
Yay! Dixie on a Sunday!
Wow this WILDerNESS!!!
Thanks for making the day wonderful! My little Jessica and I walked over 9000 steps yesterday. We want to warm up to hiking like Dixie Jessica!
Just stunning! Love everything about this video. Leaves ablaze in thier fall glory, the tracks, the return of wayward Aaron, the wall, the bear, the night audio, the editting and music, mile marker, on and on and on....and...another Dixieism...."devil beatin'his wife with a fryin' pan!"
What a treasure you are Miss Dixie! Thanks again for the bonus video!
Now this, is one of, if not the best video of The Bob I have seen. You so captured it. 200 miles of nothing, just wilderness. Heck Dixie, even the drive up the two lane that parallels The Bob on the western side is an epic drive. I'll ask friends in Lincoln if they have a lost and found....... Years ago cowboy camping in The Bob setting up a hunters camp, I wake up to feel something breathing into my face, my mind filled with visions of a Griz bear.....nope once I opened my eyes...... just a beautiful faced mule from the pack train all up in my face.
They didn't sound like coyotes to me either. Fall is going off all around here too. I just love this time of year for the colors. Thanks for another awesome video Dixie...
You were definitely hearing a chorus of wolves. Wow! To think they were all but extinct. Obviously there was a pretty significant pack serenading you. Love it! I’m sure you are done with the trail by now but thank you for posting your adventure. I watched your AT, PCT and CDT adventures and they inspire me not just in the beautiful sights and sounds but in seeing you maturing as a person through these experiences. Comparing Dixie on day one of the AT and nearly the end of your triple crown 3 years later, it’s like you went from a freshman at college frat girl to a confident and well educated young woman. Keep growing and doing. Keep up the good work
There has been wolves in that area for at least the last 25 years... :)
@homemadewanderlust what amazing colors you captured and Arron edited! I think visually this has been my favorite video!
Love the Charlie Brown Christmas music. These videos are the best hiking videos. Dixie's positive outlook and kindness along the trail are so great. Plus, I mean the devil beating his wife with a frying pan and all!
Beautiful landscape, are you not going to miss it? And, as to the editing, some very inspired music choices, this really adds to the atmosphere.
Not just a Sunday video but we *FINALLY* found out what happened to *A-A-Ron* . Good to see he's still chugg'n along.
Ooh man, that howling sound gave me the creeps!! Though I do hope to experience it sometime
Those overnight distant animal sounds are as beautiful as they are nightmarish!
I can't see how you guys or anybody could ever get used to that.
Such a beautiful place. Being sung to sleep by coyotes and wolves....priceless. And Aaron saw a bear. Glad to see Aaron again and cannot wait for the rest of the episodes.
Cool! Thanks to all for the work going into the videos. Wolves.
Thanks Dixie for a Sunday gift. I could watch your videos all day, and I do go and look at the old ones.
I love these videos so much! Just getting to hear the 15-30 sec commentary that you give while on trail is so real.
Beautiful views and lots of wildlife suspense! Have to say, this is one of the most well-shot videos of the trip -- and that is saying a lot.
I LOVED hearing those wolves howling at night. Coyotes yip and bark at each other.
Oh Lord! Millions flood the CDT looking for Dixie's knickers! Reward! The excitement, the thrill, the chase!
Montana is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us Dixie. hope you’re getting a lot of rest at home!
Great video Dixie, as always. I was beginning to wonder where Aaron had gone, glad to see him in front of the camera again. Hmmm, tiny holes that appear spontaneously on cuben fiber? 🤔Has this ever happened to anyone else? I had a cuben fiber tarp (or as it is now known: dyneema composite), and the same thing started happening. I thought it might be from bird droppings (in the tropical jungle, many birds are active at night). Anyway, I patched up the holes with the cuben fiber tape, and it worked temporarily but pretty soon I started having worse problems. The dyneema filaments began flaking off all over the tarp. I had to give it an early retirement. I vowed not to buy anything made out of that material again, no matter how UL it might be. For the price I paid it should've lasted me a decade at least.
Exactly! It should be a decade. Zpacks charges $600 and says it will last a thru hike...Parts of it anyway, lol....No thanks, I'll carry a little extra weight...
Woah, love to hear that night time wilderness soundtrack. Thanks for including it Dixie!
OMG, such beautiful scenery. Thank you, Dixie! You have the best videos!
beautiful Dixie thank you for sharing your journey!
Fall is so pretty in the mountains.
Hey Dixie, good to see a few more of your in between videos. BTW at 6:50, that's a Sasquatch footprint, just in case you were wondering. Also, that skat with the butterfly, 3:29, was not bear skat..it also was very large and hominid like, also possible Sasquatch droppings...
I was waxing one of the cars a couple of days ago to get ready for winter. I live at about 8,000 feet in the eastern Sierra. I walked toward the rear of the car and started out the garage and 10 feet from me, at 4 p.m., with the sun high in the sky, a 2-3 year old bear (black) was walking down the center of my driveway. I immediately yelled at it and stomped my feet. It gave me a glance or two, but did not speed up or slow down. They come through my driveway nearly nightly, but at 4 p.m.? I thought as young as it is, it is already too comfortable around humans and will likely end up having to be killed. Such is the Sierra Nevada, especially the frontcountry, where people have likely either deliberately feed the animal or have been storing food incorrectly, allowing the bear access.
Thanks for the special Sunday edition. This must mean you are actually done with the trip, depending on how quickly you get a video edited after walking a section.
Even if I never thru hike anything I need to hike this section!
Nonoririko it’s dope! One of the best on the cdt
Cool coyote howling...my cats flipped out when the howling kicked off
"The devil is beating his wife with a frying pan." Dixie you are a hoot!!! Thank you for sharing
I know. Ive NEVER heard that one!! I didn't even know he was married!🤣🤣
Great title! But if you had been wearing them for as long as you say, it is equally likely that they just got the hell out of there!
Paul Clark 😂😂😂😂
That was effin funny!
😂🤣😅😜
Thanks for this preview. This video is very entertaining. It seems you've developed a seasoned perspective of accepting the bad with the good, the discomfort with the beauty and the scary stuff with the enchanting.
John Divita Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
This video is stunning, all of the views and colors were GORGEOUS! Glad Aron caught up and then got lost again???
Now snow and hungry bears to work around. You guys are tough.
Wolfsong and wolf prints alongside the bear and big cat paws. Sweet...
Loved the video and especially hearing the wolves! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
Montana is truly one of the best places in the US. Can't wait to see your video of Glacier. Its my favorite park to hike in. So beautiful. Every view is a postcard. Also, Those noises were just the sad cries of all of us wishing we could be there with you :) Happy Trails !
Love that you included the night sounds. I was amazed hearing them. Crazy cool
I know I'm late to the party on the comments here but I'm pretty positive you found a sasquatch print around the 7 minute mark of the video. I know most of you will think I'm completely nuts, but I saw 2 in colorado... NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Most terrified I've ever been in my life and my head stays on a swivel when I'm in the woods now. I've found several tracks since. Glad Dixie seemed to have made it through all the major trails without experiencing this. Although, obviously rare, it is a life changing experience to physically see them... craziest experience of my life and I know several other good, honest people who have too... 3 of whom being police officers near Co Springs.
Thanks. Beautiful country.
Great video, Dixie. What a beautiful country we have. I hate to see the end coming. Thank you.
Getting close! Congratulations almost. Thanks for letting us go with you on your journey. Be safe.
Dixie you never seize to amaze me I loved the video Thank you. Getter done girl
you are an inspiration. and your videos are very well done. Wednesdays don't come fast enough. Glad this one came out on Sunday!
Awesome! Though scary! Dixie, Arron, I am sure we'll see you on a big stage winning all documentary awards. Thank you for this amazing job. Hope the CDT will never end...
Mountain lions, keep hiking, grizzly bears keep hiking, coyotes, rattlesnakes, rain, keep hiking, one pair of underwear!!!!!!! Thought we lost the finish of your through hike with that near mishap. lol keep hiking......
I must say the night sounds were rather spooky and unnerving to me. I definitely would not be up to night hiking. I love the wonderful seasonal colors!
I was in the Bob, for a week, in July 1999. My heart has been there ever since. I’m planing a 10 day trip from next summer. 20 year anniversary.
Ty for sharing your adventures.
Hugs,
Homemade wanderlust Patreon subscriber, John
Those wolf howls would have scared the peewaddin’ out of me! Beautiful country!
So good to see Aaron!
It is amazing going back and watching your first video compared to these. You have done so great and just keep getting better and better. Keep going.
The leaves are such beautiful colours 💚🌿🍁🍂💚 the night time noises ... I'd be so scared 😲 must be great to have eachother as company. Thanks for sharing 💗🌼💗
You’re such a gutsy woman Dixie, I’d be so freaked out walking through there and camping at night. No way I would be getting a moment s sleep. Not a chance.
The howling at 4:10. Man. 😍
Of all my time in the west, I stayed cautious in regards to bears, but, the howling, and singing, of the coyotes and wolfs always made me nervous!!!
Wow, those coyotes/wolves sounded insane!!!! Every time you have coyotes in your vids my dogs hear them and freak out 😂
Wow that ending was incredible. This whole series is incredible. I've binged the whole thing in the last day and a half, and I'd already watched the CDT documentary. Really speaks to the amazing quality of your vlogs, and just your content in general. This is far better than any Nature T.V. show I've ever watched. I think it mostly comes down to how genuine you are, but Aaron's beautiful editing certainly plays a big part as well, it seems like he really started perfecting thru hike editing by this trail. Not that the previous ones were bad by any means.
Anyways, on to the next one..
JUST as good two years later watching. So beautiful.
There's nothing like your first bear turd. 6AM on the trail and it still has steam coming off of it.
You are SO brave Dixie!
Wolf tracks, a wall worthy of Jon Snow, Charlie Brown theme music, and great footage. Thanks for a good video.
LOVE the SUnday video! A little creepy too. Happy Halloween! lol Beautiful trail, BIG bear prints and creepy sounds!
Great video!! Phenomenal, dramatic, and beautiful ending. I've been curious of how the neoprene socks would hold up while hiking, they are wonderful for kayaking in cold water. Please do a review on how they held up if you get an opportunity. Thanks for the amazing videos.
Awesome vid Dixie, thank you for sharing, glad Y'all are safe and doing well, watching your vid makes me want to go back to Montana, we're not getting any snow here in New Mexico. Happy Trails to ya, keep your head on a swivel, God bless you and your Family always. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🌬☃
Another Awesome video ! You and Perk night hiking in Grizzly country Takes a lot of guts !!!
Made my day! Thanks Dixie stay warm!!
Great Fall colors!
Y’all do such an awesome job of videos, pics, music....love
Love love!
I'm not an expert but I don't think hiking at night in grizzly country is a good idea. Love your videos!
WOW, hearing those wolves in person must have been AWSOME! I've only heard recordings. I have blasted the wolf sounds on my external stereo speakers, on my house, hoping it would scare away the coyotes. Won't do that again, my poor horses were skittish all the next day, looking nervously towards the house
Loved it! You never disappoint!
Night hiking in the Bob! BTW that might have been Sasquatch at 8:50.......some of those track looked a little different than "bear".....The Bob is true wilderness......Good for you. Hardcore.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams is now stuck in my head. Thank you, it’s a good song.
First, THANKS for your videos! I don't recall if I've ever commented on any of them before, but I've watched plenty of them, and I appreciate you & everyone involved with editing & sharing them with the rest of us.
Quite the chorus you have. I had wolves surround my tent once their calls were distinctly more individual separation. Those wolves there must like those big production numbers. Good job on lighting you critters with the head lamp, the exposure was nice. When Perk was saying AaaaaaOoooo to the bear I thought he was going to song singing 🎤 Daylight comes and I wanna go home “. We’ll be waiting to here what you think of the socks.
Randy Smith, yep, hearing the wolves would’ve had me in Perk’s tent or vice versa if I was there! Very cool to hear but eerie too!
Howling: I have an Alaskan Husky that howls like that.
HI Dixie.... Who did the drone footage at the end? Thanks again.
Thank You Jess😀
Wow breathtaking!!
Love the "Devil's beating his wife" reference! My mom is from Alex City, AL and taught me that expression when I was a kid.
Wow that's an amazing video Dixie love it!! 😊
I'm scared and excited to see how you handled the snow that came at the end. Congrats on finishing the CDT! Will you film the sections of the PCT you want to make up?
Very cool.
Waited for you to see s bear. Great job
Sounded like a really great haunted house sound track, you guys are bahraaaave!!! And I agree with Perk...Sasquatch!
Yay! Bonus video! Both times I've hiked the Bob, I've been paranoid of bears. Never saw one thankfully. We also didn't hear the howling. Just dear running around. Tha-thump tha-thump tha-thump. Next time, I'm bringing ear plugs.
Montana woods at night , major league spooky.
@6:52 sure looks like a Sasquatch/Bigfoot impression in the muddy trail! @7:28 Perk even suggests that!!
Absolutely gorgeous! Those night time noises were terrifying!
LOL! Lovin’ this video... it’s as if you and Perk have “near end CDT hallucinations!” Huge bear tracks, the wall, weather, etc...
“Christmas time is here..” haha loved the Charlie Brown theme playing 😂
Lots of noise at night in that areas. Not much sleeping. Loved the video Dixie, thanks...
What are your thoughts on those Altras? I just discovered them at a local shop when I was looking for some Hoka trail runners, but wasn't quite sure about the design.
Whoop whoop on the home stretch!! You go girl 💪👣🙏
I live in England. I'd just so love to meet up with you and do a trail walk.
It looks so great and fantastic.
Thank you for the upload.
I know that sound! Wow!
sounds like kayotes, hear them a lot in NC ,same sound when they make a kill
Love it! Can't wait to see your triple crown!
I’ve been waiting for GNP! When I was out there the elevation killed me (I’m at sea level normally), but every step was worth it!!
Thanks ! I love your journey !
