Ms.Fayard(Ms.Louisiana)is a great example of "small but mighty"what power house vocals...✨👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😉💖💕✨✨ I truly believe the delegates in the 80's/90's early 2000's were the best....🙏🏽
So wonderful when they gather together surviving former MISS AMERICA title holders. Phyllis George looking just so beautiful !! She was such a wonderful person. So very sad she passed away in May 2020at age 70 from a rare form of Blood Cancer. ❤❤😊😊
18:17 This shows why Bert was fired...he says 1981 when it should have been 1969. Miss America 1972, Laurie Lea Schaefer, gets the most screen time while Bert rambles on.
"""Interesting story about Marjorie Vincent, she competed in Ms.North Carolina that same yr.didnt make the top 10 goes back to her home state wins ✨ Ms.America ✨✨what will and determination 💪🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨😉👏🏽✨✨
Although I was not aware of that interesting & arguably infrequent factoid that she had entered TWO state pageants in the same year of her title win, but in reality it not only is based on hard to prove but definitely racial discrimination issues that were among the worst most abhorrent of that era, but b/c of the fact that she had entered at least 4 Miss NC pageants, maybe 5 times. I knew a guy who was one of that pageants state volunteers and told me this shocking and heinous story about how he and other male hairdressers overheard not only an official high up in the state organization but even the volunteers making racist remarks that reflected their racial based convictions which at least in their minds in the late 80's- and I directly quote" there won't ever again be another N word Miss NC, one was enough"!!! (The year Vanessa Williams won, Danean Graham was the first black Miss NC, & it made national headlines when after winning her title, the next night a group placed a burning cross on her family's front lawn. This is insane that such an amazing pianist who arguably still to this date gave one of the most outstanding answers to the question given her about her platform by Gary Collins, but had to enter a 2nd state pageant- i believe she was doing her internship in Chicago for her Duke law degree that semester leading up to the pageant. That woman's talent here - with that excellent, uniquely her own fingering style enabling her to just tear down so quickly from right to left at the very end when she then again is amazing on that far left side was stellar enough, but the moment she finished answering that question with the details and speaking/,, debating skills delivered on an entirely different level of effect and magnitude from the others, i recall thinking to myself only a suicidal judge wouldn't award her scores purposely superior to the other so as to affect the outcome as her being the winner. That's a shame what she was put through in NC but she was in this pageant the clearly obvious winner.
Wow Bert Parks messed up introducing 29 former Miss America’’s out of order . It messed up the whole segment . Bert Parks here in September 1990 would pass away in February 1992 at 77 from Lung Cancer . This was Gary Collins last pageant Regis Philbin would take over . Gary Collins passed in 2012 age 75 of natural causes. Regis in 2020 of Heart disease age 88 years.
For those of us who are Miss USA fans, we need to thank Miss America 1952 Yolanda Betbeze. It was because of her refusal to wear the Catalina Swimwear that the Catalina Company pulled their sponsorship from the Miss America pageant and created the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
I’d argue that Miss Illinois 1989 was the biggest Trekkie ever. Edit: Isn’t that the ASL sign for “I love you”? She wasn’t the last Miss Wyoming to sign. I refer you to Heather Jackelen, who signed her whole intro.

The talent of Miss Illinois, the best one of Miss America 🥰🥰

Lots of great piano performances this year!
Very! And in the prelim nights they were 4th and 14th in the line up each night. Look them on my channel. Miss America Pageant 1991 prelim talent
HISTORIC. One African American woman crowns another back-to-back.
My home state of Illinois won this year! Go Marjorie!
Fun fact I’m at her mothers house cleaning and just made aware of this
Marjorie was very pretty!
R.I.P. Phyllis George, Gary Collins and Bert Parks

Marjorie was 2nd Runner Up to Miss NC the year before in 1989.
I just watched the 1990 Miss North Carolina Pageant, and Marjorie Vincent did not compete in that pageant. This pageant is on RUclips.
Exactly. Marjorie competed in 89 in NC while she was attending Duke and competed in IL where she is from the following year 90.
She was a runner-up at Miss North Carlina. She competed as Miss Durham-Orange County.

What a MESS Bert Parks did with the former Miss Americas !!!!!!!!!!, Oh my God !!!!!!!
1990 was the year of the white bathing suits!!!
Damn Debbye Turner is beautiful. I had a crush on her when I was a kid
She really is.
What a mess announcing the former Miss Americas☹
LMAO

Ironically, Catalina went crawling back to Miss America later. 😂
The very first Miss Universe Pageant started in 1926 not 1952. It was the first international beauty pageant.

Actually, Yolande Betbeze was Miss America 1951; Coleen Kay Hutchins was Miss America 1952.

@@emmarose4234 She threw up the devil's horns, you don't see that much in the 90's !!
It's a shame they messed up the cue cards
No cue cards. Bert held the cards and got them out of order.
✨ 0:25 🖤 1:50:43
You can tell that the pageant was beginning to show its age.
Shannon from Fox News!
Skipping some queens huh Parks? Lol
