I just bought a hybrid xle nightshade its pearl white. When I look at it, Its almost a greyish white it has something to do with the paint the way it changes looks. We almost got into someone else's car the other day because the color changed from the sun. I didn't want white and didn't realize how pretty it is......I bought it because I loved the steering in it and very comfortable. I'm getting 41mpg and already put 600 miles on it. I also didn't realize there was a huge waiting list at most dealership. It was a presidents day sale so I lucked out and got a deal on it. I was told by the salesman they didn't need to discount them. I highly recommend this vehicle it has everything you need and more. Toyotas are high priced because the quality of them!

Just started watching and also in the PNW, which is why I chose to subscribe to your channel. We won't be in the market for a couple years but I always start researching way ahead of time. Currently Hyundai owners, 2018 Sonata Ultimate and 2018 Tucson Ultimate both purchased used with 26k in 2020 and 2021 respectively, driving less than 10k per year being retired and hubby working remote. At the time of purchase we will have relocated to the southwest region to be closer to aging relatives. Thanks for the great review of something on our list to possibly purchase in the future. We will also be looking at the Prius for a DD and possibly plug-in hybrid, time will tell.
The Highlander gets a lot of crap for the third row. I’m 6 feet tall and fit ok in the third row. My brother has one and I had to recline the seat back in the third row, which further limited room in the trunk area, but it’s plenty doable.
Bro I agree heavily,,I'm 5 11,,tested out 3rd row 2 months ago before purchase,,it was fine and way more roomy than the Sorrento I tested,,so I purchased,,,
Them must be three huge dogs 😆 🤣... that 3rd row is tight on most of these types. A minivan really gives the best room on the third row with adequate trunk compared to these, unless you upgrade to a monster like a suburban.
After slightly more than a year... well nothing special. What I really like is V6 - mileage is bad, but I wouldn't like to have battery car with tiny engine. Infotainment system is nice, straight from 90's. Cameras are even better - delicate sound of VHS quality. Watch if you're wearing black belt - seats leather looks awesome, but it absorbs colors. Would I go with it again? Maybe.

We have the 2021 hybrid AWD Platinum. The positives: 1) good fuel economy - though not as good as claimed by Toyota. c. 29-30 mpg on average vs. the official 35 mpg, with c. 50-50 town and highway use (the average after 20k miles). Mostly used in "eco" mode and not with a heavy foot. At 90 mph mpg drops to c. 26 - 28. I can only achieve the average 35mpg in the summer (mostly in town and out of town at 50-60 mph). As I see the real world mpg with the V6 (i.e non-hybrid) is around 20-24 mpg combined, so the hybrid is c. 5-10 mpg better on average. This is considerable, but I am not entirely convinced it is enough to compensate for the higher initial purchase price, added complexity and - I am sure - overall lower reliability (see the relevant videos on this from Scotty Kilmer!) . 2) comfy ride, in particular when it is fully loaded 3) much nicer interior than in previous generations. prior to buying the Hihy I also tested the previous gen Lexus Rx. It's odd, but the Hihy - in a way - felt more premium than the Lexus (I guess this has now changed with the new Rx). Negatives: 1) I don't particularly fancy the appearance of the vehicle. Don't ask me why I have bought it then! :-). 2) the fuel tank is literally a SCAM! Toyota claims the fuel tank is 17 gallons. This is BS! Due to a design fault it can actually only hold 13 gallons!!! Now, I can live with that, but it's still a joke...3) worse fuel economy relative to what Toyota claims. As it is still way better than the V6, this point is listed both as a positive and a negative 4) The eCVT is something not everybody can live with. Prior to buying a Toyota with eCVT, make sure you think about it long and hard! I've got used to it, but I know people who ultimately sold their car, because as time went by they got increasingly irritated. The system itself functions totally seamlessly. This 4th gen hybrid system is now perfect. This is also true for the regen breaking. Flawless. I don't think there is any other hybrid system out there that can even come close to Toyota. So, this is partly a positive, as well! The infotainment system is good, though it is not worth buying, with the 12" screen. You simply cannot use the full screen for one application. Pretty dumb solution! Otherwise, the first 20k miles were totally problem-free. This is pretty natural with a Toyota or with any "normal" car - I guess. I've read a few customer reviews on Tesla cars. It is so funny when they say: "I have been using the car for 6 months now - 20k miles - and the car is absolutely flawless"....:-). Reply: "great news. fantastic." :-)
@@Bart-dg6qv yes I would. Because unlike the Toyota the Hyundai and Kia are ACTUALLY competitive and desirable and it really shows throughout. Even at 50K you’re getting a better quality car than Toyota
@@naveenthemachine The issue with your point is that this video is talking about the Highland Hybrid. That is a very specific technology that Toyota does better than anyone else (Hybrid vehicles). The Telluride and the Palisade are gas only engine SUVs. Thus, you can only compare them to the gas version of the highlander. If they offered a hybrid variant that had identical gas mileage, then we could start comparing the interiors and performance to price. The lack of hybrid is exactly why the Telluride and Palisade were deal breakers for my list - I am in the market for purchase but hybrid is a must to be considered.
2 Things They Do Not Tell You! ** Hybrid Is HORRIBLE!! ** ** BUYERS BEWARE! ** ** Do Not Buy The Hybrid!! *** Do Not Get Electronic Rear-View Mirror! ** I bought a brand new '21 Highlander Hybrid Platinum. There 2 things I found out after -- only if I knew prior -- I would not have bought this vehicle. (1) The Toyota dealership told me that they will not do undercoating due to an electrical panel/access, and/or some sort of electrical colour-wiring code that if sprayed undercoating, it would cause an issue to the mechanic if something needs to be fixed. Therefore, driving without undercoating is extremely noisy. Like coins rattling in an aluminum can. I live in the city of Calgary, not in the rural. And, we have 4 seasons here. The noise when driving in this car is absolutely ridiculous. (2) The electronic rear-view mirror: when driving at night, it displays "star burst" effect fr other vehicles' headlamps. I adjusted every angle and brightness. I brought it to the dealership, and they have no clue. It's been months now and they still have no answer. They said to me "when we get a model like yours come in for service, we'll look to compare". It's been months. Go figure. They probably are hoping that I would just forget. Either the electronic rear-view mirror display or the camera is a product of a very poor quality, or it's defective. It is annoying, nonetheless. I asked the shop manager to contact Toyota and do an inquiry regarding the electronic rear-view mirror display. He said Toyota would just tell him to do more testing. I don't know how many more tests Toyota wants to see, really. Because the dealership had my vehicles for days for test, and they agreed that there is an unusual "star burst" effect in the display. So, before you head to a Toyota dealership to purchase a Highlander Hybrid and/or pay that extra dollars for the electronic rear-view mirror option. Think about these issues!
