Absolute mega brain move by NASCAR to push the number back so everyone would hate it so much that when the forward number was announced even people against it were like “well, at least it’s not the other option”
They don’t get enough credit for how genius a P.R. move that was. 😂

Given the number of sporting events, in particular motorsport, taking place in front of deserted stands, I remember thinking just having some fans there was a feel good story, lifting the downcast nature caused by the pandemic.
The F1 season in 2020 could also be regarded as weird from a schedule perspective. After the PR disaster that was the last minute cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix, it wouldn't be until July that year that the season eventually got underway. Working around the Covid induced restrictions of the time, the originally planned calendar (which amongst others included what would have been the first time F1 raced in Vietnam) was thrown in the bin and the powers that be worked out a calendar to at least get a season completed in some form. This meant that the first 2 races were in Austria (officially the Austrian and Styrian Grands Prix), followed by Hungary, and two races at Silverstone (the second of which included the stupidly named "70th Anniversary Grand Prix,"). Thereafter, apart from 3 races in Italy in Monza, Mugello and Imola (the first time since the United States in 1982 that one country has staged 3 Grands Prix at 3 different tracks, in that case it was Long Beach, Detroit and Las Vegas), an unusually late August date for Spain, a likewise late but welcome return for Turkey (between 2005 and 2011, it was staged in either August, May or June, but in 2020, it was mid November), Bahrain staging 2 races (one at the end of November for the Bahrain Grand Prix, this was the race where Romain Grosjean had his firey crash, the second on the Sakhir Outer Circuit, which was inaccurately described as an "almost Oval" in early December) and Abu Dhabi ending the year, most races were more or less where they'd normally be in a calendar year. In all, F1 got in 17 races in 2020, which was quite a feat (not on the same level as NASCAR admittedly), and although Lewis Hamilton got his 7th championship with ease, it was better than the initial waiting for racing to commence

I would like to see nascar put the numbers on the rear quarter panel behind the wheel, it would be kinda interesting. Ah The all-star race you attended along with the other members of NWP yeah this one was weird On every single level, and yes was NASCAR and sports in general biggest crowd in 3 months from the pandemic. now your talking about it once again. yeah 2020 was just recent but it was tough year for everybody, but you guys at least got to the chance to return to the track and attend the all star race at Bristol. But yes it was weird and infamous on every level. and again it was not a mixed reaction Bubba got oh-no it was real boos. But was the beginning of seeing him evolve into a bad guy. And I said myself 3 years ago I would not be surprised that when the fans got back to the track they'd boo Bubba Wallace. I was right on that, and it hasn't stopped at most places since then. Us fans still don't like him largely cause of that. and those comments he made about McDowell sounded pretty bad, and did not help matters. Not one bit since then.

The rear wheel number placement is awful, the next gen number placement has left a lot open from some great designs. Great change imo.

The number placement was cool for this race. The cars look better with the numbers pushed back instead of forward. The underglow was terrible in as much as they should've matched it up with the paint scheme of the car. Being based off the manufacturer was a bad idea
