I have to disagree with you. You don't need to be mexican to listen to Juan Gabriel or other Spanish speaking artists. I'm Mexican, and I listen to musicians from all over the world.
The only ones that don't have more than 1 choice of music by language are "Americans" I never thought of that till now. Thanks for that, also I'm high as a kite.😂
I can listen to any music from around the world. But, if you speak said language I believe you could fully immerse yourself in. I agree with the first comment , knowing another language in this case Spanish would give you two times enjoyment of whatever the particular language has to offer at a level of full immersion.

In 1988 I had to be dragged to accompany a female colleague to see Juan Gabriel in concert. As soon as he entered the stage there was a confidence, swagger and command that told the audience HE was the ONE you were here to see. Three hours later I had a different interpretation of a Juan Gabriel. I ended up seeing Juan Gabriel in concert FOUR more times each time closer and closer to the stage. His music is great, he was an entertainer without a doubt, but he taught me what confidence looks like and when I learned about his life story I, in my opinion, realized I was watching greatness on stage on those five magical evenings.
"Amor Eterno" from this same concert is an amazing performance, he freestyles a last verse to the song dedicated to his mother who had recently passed.
This is true musical talent, from the voice and performance to the mariachis, orchestra, choir and how all the instruments perfectly sink together its all amazing. Theres no need for auto-tune

I heard about his tragic passing, and I didn't know anything about him or ever heard his beautiful singing or other songs, and I gave this song a listen by myself, and I'm was completely moved, I listened to this and a sadder version of this song, gave me chills, sadness, pure joy, just everything! His life story is so tragic but it didn’t stop him from bringing the world his music. His mother abandoned him when he was a kid yet he wrote the most beautiful song for her when she passed. “Amor Eterno” is that song and Mexicans and well Latinos in general play this song at funerals like it was a religious passage. RIP Mr. Gabriel.

Wow what an amazing talent. He wrote and produced songs for so many other artists. Mark Anthony, Luis Miguel, Rocio Durcal, and so many other famous singers say this man was their inspiration. Funny my family is from Zacatecas in Mexico but 70 years ago they mo we to Juarez so they could cross to the USA and that’s how my moms got here. One of my female cousins who lives in El Paso used to work for Juan Gabriel so we got to visit his home in Juarez. I was a kid then but he treated my cousin who was 10 years older than me like he worked for her. I didn’t care who he was back then so looking back now that I’m a grown man I respect the man more because he was so humble and kind to us.

Wow what an amazing talent. He wrote and produced songs for so many other artists. Mark Anthony, Luis Miguel, Rocio Durcal, and so many other famous singers say this man was their inspiration. Funny my family is from Zacatecas in Mexico but 70 years ago they mo we to Juarez so they could cross to the USA and that’s how my moms got here. One of my female cousins who lives in El Paso used to work for Juan Gabriel so we got to visit his home in Juarez. I was a kid then but he treated my cousin who was 10 years older than me like he worked for her. I didn’t care who he was back then so looking back now that I’m a grown man I respect the man more because he was so humble and kind to us.
