    This answered so many questions I had about this bike and the genie shock! Very well done and super helpful! I bought this bike a month ago and I’ve loved it more than any other bike I’ve owned. This helps explain why

    Great video! I think the most interesting part is how the Specialized guys say that the mid-stroke support everyone is always after doesn’t actually come in the middle of the stroke, but around that 70% stroke part. Now it makes a lot more sense why the Genie ramps up where it does.
    I also couldn’t figure out why coil shocks were ever spec’ed on this bike, but seeing that the bottom out bumper (jounce bumper) has an effect much earlier in the stroke makes it much more understandable.

      From how I’m understanding it, it works a lot like the rockshox vivid, which if that is the case, they could’ve saved themselves a bunch of time and just slapped a vivid on there and be done with it.

      @ true. The Genie’s tech is like the air version of the hydraulic bottom out in the Vivid. I do like how the Genie has air volume tunability in two locations though

    What about putting a bottom out bumper similar to ones found on coil shocks inside a very large volume air shock such as the dongle config?

      Yes it's literally the opposite intention of the old DRCV. DRCV made the volume increase deeper in travel, making the shock more linear, whereas the GENIE makes the volume decrease deeper in travel, making the shock more progressive.

    here's a crazy thought, how about instead of making a shock specifically for your model bike, you design some leverage into the frame to work with the best suspension that already exists in many variations

      that is a crazy thought, because if you watched the video you would realize that the shock makes a bigger change in wheel rate than a leverage change would. It seems you would have to make some crazy leverage rate in some weird frame design to achieve what this shock/leverage combo is doing.

    Can the coil shock be ran without bump stop?
    I have a new TTX22M.2 in my shelf that I dont wan to use it because it is missing the stopper. 😅

    All that R&D for a shock, but no R&D for mullet conversion. The evo mullet link from specialized cut progression from 19% to 10%, i imagine the stump15 is the same story on their mullet versions that change out the link instead of a yoke.

    Great video! I was slightly bummed when I saw it was in Auburn with Spesh, but oh well. I was hoping they’d test the bigger volume air shocks, Float X2 and Vivid. I’d be especially curious how the Vivid would compare with the HBO and more extensive compression adjustment

    Since Specialized stopped making the Stumpjumper Evo, I won't be buying another Specialized unless they come out with the lugged enduro Bruni rides.
    The Evo (in my experience) is the perfect trail bike but can easily be upgraded to an enduro weapon.
    I'd buy another Evo if I ever needed another bike, as a repeat buyer.
    This new 15? Nope.

      I gotta add. On my 23 Evo Pro I'm running mixed wheel. WRP yoke and Cascade link, with a EXT E-STORIA. Up front Fox Factory E-Tuned 38/170.
      All Specialized had to do is follow the industry aftermarket modifications for tuning to have an incredible weapon.
      To design a new bike, and design a new shock that still sucks under hard riding?
      Specialized ROI for this 15, I think is a FAIL.

      I think the stumpy 15 is a great bike, but it would be interesting for specialized to sell the links similar to the ones they had on the prototype

    I have owned about a half dozen specialized bikes since 2010 and I can confidently say they are utter dog shit. Not only in product quality, but as a company in general. Love their enduro xl grips though.

      The Boomslang flat pedals are the best flats I've ever owned.
