I love Myrmecia they are my favorite species of ant, thank you for the update :)
Awesome, thanks for watching 😊👍🏼
Same
Awesome video as always!
Macro footage is pretty good!
So happy I love the new name! :)
Thanks, I’m happy with the names as well. I love this colony and hopefully we will see it grow
Awesome, I wish I lived in Australia
Yeah we are blessed here with some amazing species, I’ll do my best to showcase them for you 😊 Thanks for watching
@@NovoAnts Thankyou
Wow what a nice colony. I wish good luck for the colony hoping to see them in this channel again.😀
Thanks for watching. They will definitely be shown again.
@@NovoAnts thanks 😊
Such a beautiful species!
Totally agree 👌🏼
Another great video! This is my favorite colony of yours. Hopefully their population will boom shortly. Loving the names for queen and colony!
Thank you very much. Yes great names, thanks MedicalCarcass9. I love this species of Myrmecia, very nice colour. Hopefully we get the extra 4 workers, then the colony will take off. Thanks for watching
Really cool video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much 😊👍🏼
@@NovoAnts np
i think this is a awesome colony you got
Thank you very much 😊👍🏼
i'm actually thinking on buying a queen Myrmecia Nigricepts or Myrmecia Pyriformis in like 8 months so i'll need all the research from novo ants
Hope what I have produced so far helps. I do need to make a video on Myrmecia but I’m definitely no pro at keeping them.
Hope this colony grows a huge colony
Me to 😊👍🏼
Nice vídeo 🤗
Thanks 😊
Congratulations on the second gen cocoons! Pretty much the point that I feel you have a possibility of longevity with this colony...
Only thing I would have done differently is waited until you had these cocoons, before placing her tube, into the bullant den with the other two tubes... Worked well for me personally and meant she never had a nest that was "too" big so to speak
That’s a good point, this colony have proven to be quite tricky. The bull ant den comes with the three tubes already there so I just let them move in. So far they have discarded 2 cocoons that didn’t hatch…not good, I hope the other two don’t get rejected
@@NovoAnts that's not good mate, its not too humid is it?
I use one complete dry tube, with two that have water and noticed they use both from time to time regularly of larval or pupal stages... I think too much water can restrict breathing through the silk (not that this is likely the cause but it's something to keep in mind)
great to see an aussie doing this
Thank you very much, it’s hard to get noticed in youtube, but there is not much content in Australian species so I’m happy to share and help people best I can. Thanks for watching
Super !
We need an update on these girls
Yes it’s way overdue…I’ll get on that ASAP. 😃
@@NovoAnts great can’t wait for it
Just wanted to check with the live feeding, before any workers hatched and you only had the queen were you still doing love crickets in the outworld or something else?
Just caught my first myrmecia today.
No I wasn’t giving live food until the eggs hatched. However occasionally I would give a mealworm cut in half to her, just as a source of protein to drink if she chose. Bit make sure she has sugars available all the time for her strength.
@@NovoAnts you mentioned in the video 50/50 raw sugar and water or honey, I have raw honey would I just give her that or 50/50 with water as well?
I love bull ants
Yep I agree they are nice and a little scary at times
Great tips! I saw your video on facebook com/formicarium
Thanks 😊
Nice video , I been wondering and maybe you can even make of video of it , might be a good idea 💡 but which nest you prefer this nest or the wakooshi venus nest they both seem to be the same but different so just thought maybe you can put your thought of them both I’m sure there both good but just like to see what you think 🤔
Great idea. I might try and get a Wakooshi nest and try them out. Stay tuned...
@@NovoAnts ok cool can’t wait to see that
Hi I was just wondering how long it takes for an egg to turn into a cocoon for this species I just got a queen today
Great question, it can take a couple months, depends on the temperature a bit and how much protein the larvae receive.
@@NovoAnts thanks I’ll feed them a lot of protein
How did u get them to grow up so fast
It did take while to get them all happy. Thanks for watching. Update on them soon .
@@NovoAnts my bull ate her cocoon it was devastating I’m going to leave her alone for awhile is that a good idea
Hey just a question if your queen ant eats her eggs could see make more
this is LDU ants btw big fan
Hi, thanks for commenting. Yes the queen can lay again. Normally a queen eats her eggs if she is stressed. If you can make her feel safe again in time she will lay…most of the time. The first batch is always the best though to try for. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 😊👍🏼
If one bullant has escaped, I guess this formicarium isnt so good.
It escaped out of the screw hole on the outworld, my mistake not the formicarium. I should have covered them as I had detached the nest that screwed on. 😃
Bull ants are so big for being primitive!
Yeah they are large...wait until I show off the next colony of bull ants! 😱
@@NovoAnts 😁
