All normal players like me,play licks and fills which they stole from somebody else,Jimi just plays the music comes directly to him from the Universe,he played a Stratocaster ,he more used it as a brush to paint music.
Yeah, we dropped the needle on this track and Jimi just blasted us into interstellar overdrive; hooked you up to the Source of All Power. Not a reasonable thing at all! 😅
When Hendrix's first album dropped in 1967 EVERY SINGLE GUITARIST ON THE PLANET knew IMMEDIATELY that the GOAT had arrived. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, EVERYONE.
There was and is nothing and no-one to compare to Jimi. Unrivaled creativity in relation to the guitar, unmatched musical scope, range, chops, the cosmos in a composition. Enjoy, explore. 🖖🏼😀🎶💜✨️🕊
I saw an interview with Pete Townsend of The Who describe Jimi as an "alchemist". That in my opinion is the best way to describe Jimi. Jimi was the whole reason I play a Fender Stratocaster guitar.
" 'Machine Gun' is not only Jimi's best recorded solo, it's the best guitar solo ever recorded live by anyone, anywhere, ever." I bought the album when it was first released (and 8-track - or was it 4-track? To long ago to remember exactly).
'Jimi ' the First and Last of the Space age Bluesmen ! This track is actually 'Voodoo Child (slight return)' 'Voodoo Child ' is an earlier seven minute live Cosmic blues jam/recording from the same Lp 'Electric Ladyland ', definitely one of his greatest ,also featuring the one and only 'Steve Windwood ' on the keyboards ! Check it out it's unbelievably good!!...
“Hey Joe”, “All along the watchtower”, “Machine Gun”, “Red House”, and “Castles in the Sand” are all great Jimi classics worth checking out. You guys should definitely check him out live. Only dude who could literally play a guitar solo with his teeth….yeah, he actually did that.
Guys, seeing as you liked this so much, you should definitely react to the youtube video of Jimi playing this song Live in Maui 1970. There is video footage as well as audio, and I guarantee you, your minds will be blown. Jimi was a guitar master, a one of a kind musical genius.
You need to listen to Are You Experienced. Jimi was not only an accomplished and innovative guitarist, but also a master at using the recording studio as an instrument. And this was with only 4 tracks on magnetic tape. I'm old now, but I clearly remember hearing Hendrix in the 60s and thinking 'WOW this is really different' No one ever sounded like that before.
my dude on the right geeked as shit😂but great choice on this one. jimi came from another galaxy, was just stoppin by. if u rockin wit his studio stuff def check out his machine gun performance at fillmore east 1970, and hey joe at monterey 1967, he lets TF loose on stage. lookin forward to more!
Purple Haze and All Along the Watchtower are probably Hendrix’s 2 most well known tracks. Spanish Castle Magic, Foxy Lady, Bold as Love, If 6 was 9, Little Wing, Crosstown Traffic, are all good tracks I recommend, but there are many more good tracks from him as well. I recommend listening to album versions of his songs as his live performances vary quite a lot. Some songs of his only really exist as live performances including the song Machine Gun from a live album; another live performance I recommend is his version of Killing Floor he performed in Stockholm in 1969 (others will say his version at the Monterrey Pop Festival is better, but I still say Stockholm version is better).
@@R-EActsTV Jimi's 'Crosstown Traffic'; from one who was 12 at the time, down in a friend's basement in 1971 hearing it on his ancient loud tube HiFi after some 420 out in the backyard for the first time...
Fun to see you 1st hearing this. Enjoy the ride. Jimi was the most groundbreaking and influential rock guitarist. And he was a great writer, producer, sonic innovator, wild and great live showman, he was everything. And very popular too. Would recommend hearing him do Machine Gun live from the Band of Gypsys album, one of greatest live guitar recordings ever.
That is one thing I've noticed about RUclips. There are a lot of gifted musicians - all looking for fame playing other people's music. It so hard to get recognized today - over saturation due to the internet.
I could not imagine hearing this in the sixties. It’s must of blown peoples faces off. Especially this song. Not many people can do this song justice now.
jimi makes you see colours, makes you feel, takes you away.i got into hendrix when i was about 8 when i heard "i don't live today"(studio version)and it absolutely melted my brain.the man is/was something else
Every fellow hesher I knew LOVED Jimi Hendrix growing up in the early 80s. His records rested along side Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin in our collections. Prolly the greatest self taught guitarist to ever live. Tragic he is among the Club of 27.
Few Facts about Jimi: Could play righty just as well as lefty. Was the highest paid musical act at the time of his death, earning 100k per performance. Played the last spot at Woodstock but because of all the rain only 80,000 of the 500,000 people who went got to hear him. The rest left thinking he would be cancelled due to weather. Was a vet of the Army 101 Airborne but got hurt in training so he never went to Nam.
The guitar greats of the day, all took a back seat when Jimi came from a band mate to front man, instantly. They all knew, electric guitar boundaries just moved.
Simply the best! ♥ You gotta check out these Hendrix songs: Purple Haze, Little Wing, All Along The Watchtower, Are You Experienced, Bold As Love & Dolly Dagger
Experience all of it, dude, start from the first album, then go into all the other ones that are out there because I tell you what Hendrix was Way Beyond his time.
Ok guys, now that youve heard Hendrix, gotta check out Stevie Ray Vaughn... Live. Try "Life Without You" at the Capitol Theatre, or "Texas Flood" at El Mocambo. ✌️💕
Incredible stoner music. Jimi is usually on the top spot of the best guitarists of all time. Certainly the most influential. Other great guitarists of the time were just gobsmacked. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing Jimi changed the way guitars were played. He made them SEXY as hell. First player to use that level if distortion. Wah wah peddle All the greats who came after him revered him. The next huge innovator of how guitars were played was Eddie Van Halen.
I was surprised at how they created distortion before equipment was designed to do so. Someone must have played through a speaker that had the paper cone damaged which led to using a razor blade to slice them in a way which produced a fuzzy noise accompanying the sound waves.
It's awesome that you guys like music from 50+ years ago. Yiu remind me of my youngest daughter, who is pissed because she should have been born in the 70's.
🌸 aaahhh , Jimi - a musical genius - no one like him. we lost him way too soon.💔 if I could offer a suggestion for another song if you're interested? "are you experienced" ... is a very very groovy song.
One thing not often mentioned about Hendrix was his diverse repertoire, and the stages of development he went through in only the few years of his career. Yeah, he was a monster player, but also a great artist.
Now you need to watch Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV) do this track next followed by SRV doing "Texas Flood" Live at "El Macambo" specifically and get ready to have your socks blown completely off. GOAT status shit.
This is why Jimi Hendrix isconsistently number one on Rolling Stone's best rock guitarists of all time! EVERYBODY followed Jimi! Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin) and Eric Clapton come next.
Jimi plays his Stratocaster upside-down, because that's how he had to learn to play as a kid, on a right-handed guitar. He was a lefty. Jimi was a Seattle kid, born and raised. He's the Bruce Lee of guitarists. He was the best. You would never hear Jimi say that about himself. He thought Billy Gibbons of ZZ Topp, and the great Irish Rocker, Rory Gallagher were the best guitarists he ever heard.
Love your reaction! Jimi is . . . the Best. Be careful: people will tell you about the Maui version: Uh-uh. The Woodstock version. Just watching him move can move you to tears. This is an artist. And the rabbit hole is so deep - even in only three short years. Listen to Foxey Lady and The Wind Cries Mary from the Are You Experienced album...along with the title song.
There is another, longer (and better, imo) version of this song on that album (Electric Ladyland); track #4. It's called "Voodoo Chile" and it's 14 minutes long; out of this world! Jimi was the greatest guitarist ever, imo. Saw him in '68 in S.F. "If I don't see you no more in this world, see you in the next one and don't be late." R.I. P. Jimi
I think all along the watchtower is probably my favorite Jimi Hendrix song. This song is fire, but you should probably check out Stevie Ray Vaughan’s version of it pretty sick too
you guys should check out the live grand funk railroad video from 69' "inside looking out", all the great music reaction channels react to it, its like one of the greatest rock performances of all time
I'm 75 yo and I saw him live I can go happy that my generation did the thing that woke up people.
Jimi didn't die, Earth was just part of his tour
All normal players like me,play licks and fills which they stole from somebody else,Jimi just plays the music comes directly to him from the Universe,he played a Stratocaster ,he more used it as a brush to paint music.
"This is unreasonable." That is about as concise and observant a comment about Hendrix as I have ever heard. Well done.
😂 I remember hearing this album 50 years ago…the transcendence was incomprehensible…now I know through this cat’s eyes that it was unreasonable 😂
Jimi defied reason.
Yeah, we dropped the needle on this track and Jimi just blasted us into interstellar overdrive; hooked you up to the Source of All Power.
Not a reasonable thing at all! 😅
He's considered by his peers to be the GOAT.
Goats are every where, there is 1 JH
Not considered…is!
Jimi Hendrix will melt your mind.
One of the riffs that started it all.
Jimi played like the guitar was an extension of his body. One unit. Totally fluid. Mesmerizing to watch
His mind his hands his body his amps his extreme volume on stage, were 1 musical instrument ,like magic.
And he played a right handed guitar left handed so basically upside down. He was a genius. Not to state the obvious ❤
This man was a guitar god! He probably influenced a million guitar players. He was da man !!!
🖖🏼😀🎶💜✨️🕊
He opened the door a little more for all of us. I just wish he had lasted longer.
seen Jimi as a baby in 69 , god bless momma...
I saw an interview with Pete Townsend of The Who describe Jimi as an "alchemist". That in my opinion is the best way to describe Jimi. Jimi was the whole reason I play a Fender Stratocaster guitar.
Jimi was the rock icon that influenced all that came after.
" 'Machine Gun' is not only Jimi's best recorded solo, it's the best guitar solo ever recorded live by anyone, anywhere, ever." I bought the album when it was first released (and 8-track - or was it 4-track? To long ago to remember exactly).
🌸 left-handed played his backwards, couldn't read music.
digest all that for a second and realize his genius😊
'Jimi ' the First and Last of the Space age Bluesmen !

No one better on guitar, period.
One of the few song writers ever, to write an entire song in a minor key.
Purple Haze and All Along the Watchtower are probably Hendrix’s 2 most well known tracks. You make me laugh. This is the music i grew up with.....So great to see you discover it.
Good reaction definitely like to see you all react to more jimi hendrix pick any song there all great, peace out ✌️
"See you on the next world
Don't be late"
Here’s a request. Please check out Stevie Ray Vaughan live clip of ‘Texas Flood’.
I think we’d all like to see that reaction.😎
This made me laugh because similar to boxing when the talk of Joe Louis and Muhammed Ali are spoken of - someone always brings up Rocky Marciano. :D
When he came on the scene, he was a god among men. His impact extends way beyond anybody else i can imagine. Fascinating dude!!
GOAT. What may surprise you is how Chantel McGregors version of this is SO good. (video in the green dress)

I need this to be much louder. I need my neighbors window panes vibrating when I hear this

More Jimi Please!
Unreasonable
🤣🤣🤣
Jimi is the only guitarist I know of that played both rhythm and lead at the exact same time.
I listened to this in the sixties. I was around 16 or 17. 😊
Please do a cover of this track by Stevie Ray Vaughan [Live at The El Mocambo, 1983] - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Interested in what y’all think! ☮️
Seen Stevie do it on 6th street Austin when i was in army....good fkin show
I like the Frank Marino cover as well - another guitar god trained on the master - Hendrix.
The first time I heard this I was on Purple Windowpane LSD. Jimi fan 4 life...
Have lstened to so much hendrix on acid back in the 70-80s, takes it to another dimension.
@@ivanlloyd6661 Well he was on acid when he played live so I can say it's how it was meant to be heard. lolol
"Santana" at "Woodstock" 69, that's where I would start! Prepare to be impressed. Have to see video version.
The guitar greats of the day, all took a back seat when Jimi came from a band mate to front man, instantly. They all knew, electric guitar boundaries just moved.
I saw Jimi Hendrix perform this song in concert in 1968 in Kansas City. I was a huge fan so this was quite an experience for me.

You’ve got to watch him live. Playing with his teeth. Lighting his guitar on fire.
Holy shit that sounds so fucking cool what’s the name of the song/video?
Just search on RUclips for Jimi lighting his guitar on fire and guitar tricks. Monterey Popp festival. 1967.
Genius !!♥
Check out Jimi Hendrix plays Monterey
He could get sounds out of his guitar that even today it can’t be figured out.
You got that right ❤
Above ALL ELSE, please do MACHINE GUN live from the album Band of Gypsies.🎸🔥
YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
Jimi was great you need to hear Creame and Clapton.
Guitar God
I think all along the watchtower is probably my favorite Jimi Hendrix song. This song is fire, but you should probably check out Stevie Ray Vaughan’s version of it pretty sick too
hearing is one thing but you have to see him as well
Jimi Country Blues
You need to watch the concert videos
Fun fact he's a rare left handed guitarist he played a lefty flipped guitar too hard to do 🔥rip Jimmy
He played right-handed Stratocasters upside down
I called this variation Of this song, voodoo Child, in syrup…
