Copies of the characters were brought to professors in New York, the plates were shown to various people so they would be witnesses, Joseph used them to translate at the beginning stages of the process, and then he developed better trust in God and was able to translate without them. There were lots of uses for the plates.

Excellent story telling. We can feel his loneliness. However, can someone explain his journey? Where was he at the start? Crossing mountains, deserts. Sometimes we see him carrying the plates (that's accurate) then they disappear from view. Just wondering.

My testimony of the Book of Mormon is simply from accepting the challenge by missionaries back in 1974, to read and follow what is written in Moroni 10:3-5. for that, I have no doubt that God has blessed me with the Truth not only The Book of Mormon but also The Bible And continuing words of God through living prophet, because God Lives, Jesus is the Christ, indeed!!!
As I've wondered the valleys of new England and the hill Camorah, I've often pondered on Moroni as he journeyed among the lands of the great lakes and the land desolation of southern Canada. I can feel the spirits of those who once flourished there saying, remember us, remember why we died, live for the Lord almighty, and heed the voice of his servants the prophets.
His equipment is in excellent condition considering all he's been through. Another complaint is they put Moroni's effigy on the very top of many of our Lord's houses. Furthermore I think of Moroni as a ressurected person, not an Angel. I also think of him during his years of war, then year of solitude. We've got a good Prophet. Christ's true Prophet, Christ's true Church.

What’s the point of the golden plates if he didn’t even use them to translate them? He used a stone in a hat....and don’t it’s not true because your church admits it. It’s just not taught.
The 'Golden' plates... even if they were the lightest alloy were physically too heavy to carry as claimed - let alone run with as claimed. Do some basic online research into Joseph Smith (outside the LDS bubble) and begin your journey to true freedom in Christ.

The invitation left in the Book of Mormon is to READ it, and then pray with faith and ask God if it’s true. If you believe God can answer your prayers, then He will answer
