LOL, when I was using my left hand my mouse aiming, it really wasn't bad but my right hand pressing buttons in game had no idea what a keyboard was I need to try my dominate hand again. Thank you for this video and reminder.

I tried kovaak's with my left hand and it was really difficult, but then I tried doing something that I saw some pro do. I had a mouse in both of my hands and only the one in my left hand was on, and I got much better scores. After doing this for a couple of runs, aiming with my left hand became quite a lot easier. Might be just me, but I guess more people should try it

i made the switch in october 2023 after 15+ years as a right handed. I'm 37 :) My steam account is from 2007.
i focused on games, so i played PUBG and CS2. I can only play the week-end as a truck driver. I have now 300h+ at CS, 300h+ at PUBG.
At this date, in the last week of my 3weeks holidays, i grinded a lot of Kovaaks. I have hit platine too in 2,5 weeks. ~80h of play.
When played right handed i have been stuck in iron/gold in 300h+ of Kovaaks. So for me the switch worth it. As you mentioned in your video, mouse is ok, but the real hell is the fucking keyboard !
I think now my aim is way better than it was with my right hand, but now i need to work the right hand coordination as i notice a lot of time it's the reason why i die. In stressing situation i look completly retarded !

i grew up playing on my right hand and i got pretty good mechanically over the years but i always felt like there was something holding me back or something that i physically wouldnt be able to overcome. ive tried swapping to left hand a couple times but it was too frustrating since im missing the lifelong experience and mouse control i have with my right, but ive finally committed to it for a couple months now, and its the best feeling ever seeing how good ive become and how much more i improve every day. its honestly a surreal feeling to me and i recommend it to anyone who aims with their non dominant hand

sounds like you should 100% stick to it and not switch back, even if it takes the rest of the month to get keybinds down just play a variety of games. at the end of the day the experiment should tell you whether this overcomes your plateau and you can get better w left hand than you ever used to be with right. Great vid anyway loved the transparency

I'm about three weeks in on left and already beating all my kovaacs score and top 10% in several, I've had a much different approach because I knew my keyboard hand would be the big issue, I play about 30 mins of kovaacs and all my other time is spent on siege which helps with being precise (and quite a few binds you need to get used to) as well as playing any story games I can to drive that even further and I've seen a lot of progress already. getting the keyboard hand coordinated changes EVERYTHING on top of aiming with your dominant hand so do not be deterred and grind on

I’m a dominant leftie but out the mouse in my right hand. I’ve got around 300ish hours into kovaaks over the last 3-4 years and have hit jade/master scores. I hit a rough plateau on the benchmarks for a year, but it was more of a mental plateau. Once I changed how I viewed aim and myself I started flying through scores. I’m also immortal in valorant on a fairly high if that means anything lol. I truly believe it’s a skill that anyone can master on either hand. High level kovaaks players train their non dominant for fun and have hit grandmaster+. Maybe im missing out on slightly better performance, but I try not to stress on that

I am so glad you made this video, it has ALWAYS been in the back of my mind. I'm actually a little sad that this kind of proves (for your scenario) that if lefties grew up using left handed setups, their aim would be significantly better. That being said, I can also never switch my setup to lefty. It's simply too inconvenient for work and how most PC gear is setup.

I'm a leftie and have always wondered this. In each game I play I plataue at a high rank but not quite Radiant or equivalent, and always felt mechanically limited despite aim training and going down various rabbit holes. I don't think I'll try this because of the time sink but this is a really cool experiment

Although I haven’t done anything like changing hands, I did once switch keybinds in league of legends. I swapped the attack move on A and the ult on R. What was funny was that after a couple months of playing and feeling like I had gotten used to it I tried playing a champion that I hadn’t since I changed and proceeded to completely fall over trying to attack but ulting and ulting when I tried to attack. Just something to keep in mind for those that play anything with characters like valorant, you have to relearn for EVERY character and control.

    • @nestoftw

interresting, though there are some CS pro players who are lefthanded and play with their right hand, one of them is kennyS.
i think that challange is fun but personally i think this only shows how fast your brain can adapt and move certain skills to other hand, this means people shouldn't be afraid of changes!
so its not like your left hand learned aiming faster its just that it didnt take long time for your brain to adapt to aiming just as good on the other hand
aaaand another thing is that noone should be switching hands after time because you use them both anyways and movement is also important skill, either way you learn them both at the same speed or at max +10% difference, so its just choice what do you want to improve faster and at the end you need them both so it doesnt even matter. ALL people should aim with their right hand for the compatibility with mice, settings, setups, keyboards etc etc
and this experiment shows thay they actually can move to their right hand as they should in the beggining without missing out on anything

Im leftie but i use the other hand to aim, almost master at voltaic, this topic is something i thought time ago. And having your dominant hand on the kb is a good thing too, since the movement or changin weapons in a game like doom requires a lot of coordination. But maybe is easier to master the kb with your non dominant hand than the mice

  • @Ro7770

Everything about competence is the time put in the activity. Im a lefty i use my right for the mouse, switching would just throw thousands of yours of practice down the drain. Also understand that there is no literal "left-handed" or not. The hand you use more you develop competence, repeat it to make it your hand of choice.

most other things with my right hand so i don’t really know if i count as a lefty or not and if this would even work as i have always felt comfortable using my right hand for the mouse

You're confused about "plat complete". You're not plat complete until you have plat score in ALL categories. When you reach 500 average you will be plat, but you will only be plat complete when all your scores are plat or higher. Those scores you reached are plat, but not plat complete.

  • @jaemy39

I think I switched from right to left when I was like 14/15 years old and still really new to pc games and it took me maybe a few hours to get used to the new keybinds & mouse movement. Now after ~5 years I can't even play right handed anymore even though I played like 300 hours of right handed minecraft back then.

im left handed and yeah its a real pain, tbh just get a ligther mouse and keep practicing using right hand is not much of an issue. And the benefits of being right handed is fast fingers on the keyboard and able to learn keyboard techniques much faster than right handeds

as a kid i was forced to switch to my right hand when learning to write 😢 even years later whenever i do activities that includes both hand my left while lacking the range of motion, speed and power
    has the way smoother movement
even when i try to slow down my right hand to match my left’s it just can’t ever produce the same level of smoothness
really wish my mom never forced me to make the switch all those years ago cuz man…. i could’ve been somewhat ambidextrous and enjoy the best of both worlds

I might try this as my aim is not getting better but it could be due to my sensitivity being 20,000 dpi and and 6 sensitivity and a low ads in r6 My dpi has just been always extremely high ever since I started about 4-5 years ago and my grip feels uncomfortable if I move my mouse only a little bit and I have a cheap small mousepad if that makes a difference

I'm left handed for writing but I'm right handed in other things. I've found that my left hand is more precise when it comes to finer movement of fingers etc but my arm is better control on my right which is better for mouse, both my hands get shaky tho because of adhd I suspect but maybe I have something else doing that and it's not my adhd
