  • Опубликовано: 21 апр 2019
  • Hello and Welcome to another Budget Builds Video where today we'll be taking a look at the Nvidia Quadro NVS300, which was the cheapest Graphics Card I could find for sale that anyone could buy. With it available in most regions incredibly cheap....It was so cheap to the stage that everyone I had spoken to that had heard of it, actually owned one because of this.
    But we dont care all too much that people can get hold of it, we want to see just how well it can perform, so join me as we benchmark this little potato and see how well it performs.

    The tumbleweed tanks the fps due to overdraw. As the tumbleweed consists of large transparent textures overlapping one another, this requires the gpu to draw pixels multiple times over, hitting fill rate and (most probably the bottleneck at 720p) memory bandwidth.
    This is also why smoke and fire are also quite intensive in CS:GO, as they're really just many overlapping textures, where each texture incurs an additional draw for the encompassing pixels.

    • @BudgetBuildsOfficial
      @BudgetBuildsOfficial  5 лет назад +35

      Perfect Explanation of it.

    • @builder396
      @builder396 5 лет назад +6

      Wouldnt that explanation also apply to smoke (as from smoke grenades)? I remember a lot of games tanking their FPS with badly optimized smoke.

    • @Lauren_C
      @Lauren_C 5 лет назад +4

      @@builder396
      The amount of screen filled by smoke is a highly relevant factor as well as resolution. A plume of smoke at a long distance is vastly less expensive as the smoke covers fewer pixels, and contributes to less overdraw. When the smoke is close enough to cover large parts of the screen, more pixels are drawn multiple times over. Higher resolution also means large plumes of smoke become more expensive (720P - 1080P doubles overdraw costs).
      In the PS3/360 days, smoke and particles were often selectively rendered at reduced resolutions to reduce the impact.

While I think they were around $20 a piece (I splurged for more power), they are more than capable of displaying 1080p video and light 3D effects. I had no intention of gaming on these PCs, so the fact they made no noise was the reason to get them.

    Buying this for my old emachines. It's integrated graphics gets a 25 on passmark so this will blow it out of the water.

    My parent's PC has a GT 210 paired with an i3 4170, yikes. I used to game on an Athlon II x2 250 with that stupid GT 210 OVERCLOCKED but then I got an i3 gaming PC, and then got an i5 3470 bundle so I build my new PC with it, then ditched that Athlon, and yea that i3 is now paired with that GPU. Back in 2012 I believe I payed like 30$ for it and it still runs today. It's good for their use and it can still handle 1080p RUclips videos so that's nice. Hearing this card with similar with similar performance to an GT 210 is 5$ makes me wanna gauge my eyes out for what I bought at the time for "gaming".

    I have an xfx one, a budget card from 2011 that struggled then, i don't use it, it's in my stack of random tech. I haven't actually tested it since I got it, but I bet it's like $10

    Can you try to get one of those Pavilion g6 notebooks (y'know, the ones with switchable graphics). I'd like to see how they perform in 2019 (I remember they were quite the hit back in 2013)
