Jackal Archery bows have a very impressive draw length and arrow speed. I personally bought a 52,5lbs at 28inches Assyrian Bow last year and it's a real beauty. These kind of bows are for archers who love a clean simple yet elegant and fast bow. The feeling when you shot them is really smooth with almost no vibration even with light arrows (I tried 350 grains arrows). It takes a few tries to string it properly, the loop of the string is large and the syiahs are very thin.
@@JSmithski I hope you'll enjoy it. Just a few advices then. There is no arrow pass on their bows, so do not hesitate to stick a piece of leather if you want to protect the bow, after hundreds of shots mine is carved beyond the varnish, it's not very esthetic Wait a few shots before trying to extend the draw length, I once tried to go to 33 inches on the first shot and I heard a little crack. Also these are very fast bows so don't be timid on the arrow weight, they recommand 10 gr/pounds so for you it will be like me between 500-600 grain arrows. The arrow flight will be more stable this way, works very well with 2 fletches arrows. I have improved mine with a custom flemish string with silencers, makes the bow absolutely silencious
Scario45 I did shoot the 50lbs version already, I’ll stick with 9gpp for range and speed as I shoot a lot from 40-50m. I’m thinking about adding a leather grip, not sure if it’s not going to be too thick though.
@@JSmithski Depends on you hand size I would say^^. Personnally I haven't, if you want to perform kathra with this bow you better have a good grip, something that doesn't move
I have the Sarmatian bow in 26lbs/28“ and like the bow a lot. I have added silencer to the string and it works very well for me ☺️👍 The string center serving is very durable. Thank you for the review, Armin!
I just received a 51lbs version. This bow is a killer, shooting 9 and 10gpp arrows like a mule. Definitely my favorite at the moment. A small hint if you don’t like the logo. If you stick a paper duct tape (the one you would use when painting your room) to the logo it will come off with the tape XD
Thank you for reviewing this bow! This is more than just "another" Assyrian bow... this is exactly how I feel an Asian laminated bow well designed also for mediterranean draw should look like.
I've been waiting to see a review on this bow! I like the gentle curves and smooth draw of this bow. And from the quality of the Hun asymmetrical bow I owned sure this one is as just as good but probably easier to string! Lol! I will say the Hun bow is faster for sure but speed isn't everything! Thank you Patreons and you Armin for another great review as usual!
there was a guy in the comments of another review who mentioned using kinesiology tape on the arrow pass. i tried it and it really is a great solution and surprising durable. i'm still on my first piece 3 weeks later. maybe not all tape is created equal, i'm using 3NS TEX. i think it would be a good idea for you armin when you test a bow that is being sent on to someone else. then they can still get their bow in as new condition.
The older Assyrian seemed to get about 200fps with 10 gpp arrows. The difference may derive from the chronograph you had back then. I seem to recall the older chronograph showing considerably higher numbers with the same bow/arrow combinations. You also raved about the Assyrian. This bow, less enthusiasm. I’d love to see a comparison vid if you still have access to an Assyrian.
again an inimitable, great video thank you Master! ..I used to mention two slogans: "ride on top again ..... and .... thats all folks! - this is what comes to face me :) Inspire me Armin this is the best of it all..I am in the fortunate position of living close enough to Master Grózer, thanks to you I took strength and went to him for my own horn bow. Thank you for the new opportunities and for not letting my brain rest! and you never stop!!!

That's all folks!! I wonder if that rabbit who hops into your range was the inspiration for this(?) In any event, that was a great bow review. I looked into Jackal Archery's website, and they have a few other bows there. I seem to like the design of the Han Bow. Thanks again for another great review.
Lol...Da dee da dee That's all folks! Great ending.😀 Very pretty bow but I would not like the logo on the front either. Thank you Armin, have a nice evening.
@@ArminHirmer OH! That's interesting. Is there an explainable differentiation? I ask because I have assumed the following: Given two bows that are identical except one has a longer maximum draw. Here's my assumption: The bow with the longer draw should be faster because, even thought the maximum draw weight is the same for both bows because the amount of time in which the arrow is under force is longer. I'd assumed that giving an arrow more time under the same force would result more speed. Is this guideline too general for some subtle reason or is my complete ignorance of physics simply rearing its ugly head yet again?
@@douglasburt1622 the mass of the limbs, otherwise a classic English longbow would be always faster. The longer travel on the string gives the arrow more energy but not necessarily speed (imo) and even every Manchu bow must be fast otherwise
@@ArminHirmer But, but, but...force equals mass times velocity, generally speaking, yes? So the energy you’re talking about (force) can come from either the weight (mass) of the arrow or the velocity of the arrow. A longer draw would definitely give you more force in terms of velocity if the mass of the arrow remained the same or it would allow you to shoot a heavier arrow, which would also mean more force, if the velocity remained the same, right? You know all this. I think we’re saying the same thing. Where’d I leave my martini?
Nice review, enjoyed it. Not the many commercials, though. RUclips interrupted the video with about 15 commercials!! Usually there was just one break in Armin's videos. The Sarmatian design is likely the same design used by the Ancient Achemeneid Persians. Also the Achemeneids simply modified the earlier Assyrian designs into this type.
why did they (Persians & Romans) later adopt the Hun design over this Assyrian design ?? what was better about the Hun style bow that they chose it over the Assyrian style bow?
@@aburoach9268 Romans never adopted the Hun design. They went for a sarmatian design which more easier to mass produce. Hi Armin, with arrow speed 188-191fps on the 8.6 & 8.1gpp arrows, is this bow considered a fast bow? The Kheshig throws the arrows faster, right?
If it was 10 GPP I'd be impressed. Many bows shoot that speed with 8.1 to 8.5. The fibreglass FPR from AF shot 176 and that's with 10gpp arrows
many bows can shoot that "fast" but not many of the long draw ones
