I dunno, I think Thatcher's gender became irrelevant quite quickly and she was judged on her decisions and policies.

No matter the character, she simply inhabits the person she's playing. She completely disappears and let's the character speak, and evolve right before our eyes! I am blessed to be alive at the same time she is. What a gifted actor! Aren't we all lucky to see her perform? 🌟

As an American who lived in the UK (1984-1987) under Thatcher while she was still in office, it was VERY interesting for me to watch The Iron Lady, MAINLY because Thatcher seemed so mythic to me as a political figure. What I ❤️ about Streep's performance, is that she humanized Thatcher's life, and gave her some context about what she had to put up with being a woman in a party dominated by men.

Meryle Streep performance is sensational, she is one of the best actors of actors off all time, no question, no debate. But I have to say I’m from a place called Motherwell in Scotland, which was once famous for making steel and it was a profitable industry. But because of thatcher government and there de-industrial policies the local economy tanked and never recovered. Today the local economy is service sector jobs, zero hour contracts and no workers union. I was only a child when it happened but I remember the dole line being out of the door and half way down the high street in favour of a centralised economy in London where it’s all numbers on a computer screen. She was the first female leader of the uk, fair enough. But the females in my family absolutely despised her because of the economic suffering she caused. And I don’t think American audiences are aware of that interpretation of the story.

Obviously as the only two PMs to be female in Britain have been "Toris"...Miss Streep is totally wrong about it being a "boys club". That's the problem with modern leftists, they confuse pandering with empowerment, and charity with progress. All very emotional ways of thinking...Thatcher was a great leader because she was better than everybody else for the job at that time. She hated Feminism because it made the woman feel as a victim....miss Thatcher was never a victim...and because she instead was a leader.

5:32 no no no. Maggie honestly I think was one of the least criticized Woman Leader in the 20th Century. She made men tremble on fear. The reason she was so controversial is because of how she did certain things. Like the poll tax and what have you, she really wasn’t brought down being a woman in 10. Before that of course but as prime minister no. Again she was feared and had unpopular policies that’s why she’s both lobed and hated in Britain and in politics around the world.

Well SICKOS like you will but I, (being a decent human being), will be sad. She's one of the best prime ministers we'll ever have.

9:00 All the great actors have humor , Brando, Deniro, Streep.
Whoopy goes "what am I chopped liver". She is a hell of a comedian and you have to see her in the Color Purple........people forget so quickly.

Who cares? She is a radical. I do not admire her. At least she is not really on Film anymore.

"Whatever her name". Barbara Walters needs to retire. Her subjective bias towards some of her guests make my skin crawl.
