I have both, 2020 TRD PRO in manual and a 2015 1794 Tundra. Both are wonderful. If I had to only have one, it would be the Tundra. Big, powerful, solid, comfortable and safe. Gas mileage is only 3 mpg difference. Zero problems with either.

Went to the dealership and tested both. The Tundra feels like an SUV. Very smooth and powerful. The Tacoma is nothing fancy, drives a bit rough, less power. However, I bought the Tacoma because of reliability and because it felt like a real truck to me.

Also a note worth mentioning here is the other reason why I’m getting that gas mileage is because I switched from 87octane to 91 after a few short fill ups I definitely noticed the mpg went up and the truck livened up and also the Trd pro wheels, and the Toyo tires are extremely light combo that helps with the sprung and unsprung weight

Great video. I had this same question about seven years ago. Do I get the Taco or the Tundra. I really wanted the Tacoma but I was able to get a Tundra for the same price and with more features. So I went the Tundra route and have never looked back. The Tundra was such a good truck that when it came time to get rid of it I got a newer model of the same Tundra. I am glad to see that the positives outweigh the negatives in your experience as well. Thanks for another great review.

I've had 4 Toyotas as well, and I have had no issues with the exception of the starter in my 98 Tacoma, but I bought the part I think from autozone and had my Grandpa help me install it. The only issues I had with that truck was my young, dumbass crashing it. BUT, even though I have technically totaled it twice, engine wise, mechanically, that truck is indestructible. I sold it to my cousin and he had no issues with it. I love your trucks. I currently have a 2020 Tundra, and once I get back to the states after my tour here in Japan, I am debating between a new Tundra or Tacoma as a daily,, and a 4Runner/Sequoia as a family/wifey vehicle. I also want an overlander, so I am debating whether or not to use my current Tundra as a overlander, or the new Tundra.

Which one is going to be better for towing? I really want to get a taco, but will that be able to pull two atvs, and a side by side? Or one atv and a side by side? Or would I be better off just getting a tundra? Granite I will not have tons of free time to go riding, but when I am able to I want to go ride. Who knows I may not end up getting a sized by side, because it would be cheaper just to get 2-3 atvs instead.

The 5.7 V8 is much better towing and towing our RV makes it twice as fuel.efficient. We have had 4 Toyotas and all have been dead reliable. Tough choices. I prefer SUVs, so I bought a Land Cruiser 200 some years ago. Because of KDSS, you can’t put as big a tire on it, but because of shorter wheelbase and overhangs, you don’t need as tall a tire, so I make do with 33’s. Regarding the rear cab space, do you notice if the tundra has more head room and fits you better? I would have to say my tacoma doublecab is very uncomfortable because the floor is very high and that makes my knees come up closer to my body. This is extremely uncomfortable. Even though the tundra might seem like there is less legroom, i feel like the bigger taller cabin allows passengers to sit more naturally and more comfortable.

I think you can get the Tundra Crewmax with the long bed in 3rd Gen. I’m not positive as I’m not looking at Tundras living in Honolulu.
Still no heated steering wheel in Tacoma.

Had a 2011 Tundra for a couple a of years after coming from a Ram1500. Just couldn't fall in love with it. Didn't have the towing or just raw power you get from the Hemi, that and to me just dosent look good compared to others. Ended up trading it and went back to a 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel. The power of the Hemi stock just cant be beat IMO. Also the dodge has a ton more performance options due to huge 5.7 community.

Tacoma is miserably uncomfortable to drive. I just bought a 2023 and I’m already looking at trading it in for the Tundra.
