Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

If you're in a group of young boys, in the '60s, you are singing this as you wander the streets- Oh oh ...
Yes! I was one of those.
And we ladies loved listening and watching😅
There is no greater era of music than the 50's and 60's. It's great.
TOTALLY AGREE!
and the 70s....then the 80s hit
The CHORDETTS :
“MR. SANDMAN “
I guarantee you’ll Love it!!
Maybe the King of Doo-wop songs from the 50s. Iconic song.
Actually In The Still of the Nite by the Five Satins has that title. Consistantly voted as top Doowop in surveys
Real voice! Real music! No computer enhancement!
Always loved this song. I was a rocker who started listening because of the Beatles. Many of my contemporaries appreciated these 50s and very early sixties bands. Point is, we were always willing to give "older stuff" a chance, like you and other reactors.
This is my absolute favorite doo-wop song!! 🎶🎶
I remember walking around with my sisters, my older sisters and each of us taking apart this song singing away. Had a great time with it
I remember singing this song on the school bus with my friends! Thanks for the memory!
I’ve gotta say I love how much you love and appreciate these songs!!!
Thank you so much!!!
I’ve never met a man that didn’t love this song. I love that, it’s like they all become the Duke of Earl.
First album I ever bought.
Love your reactions to the oldies. Such a better and simpler time. Love the oldies.
Way better times. Today's world makes me sad.
My favorite song when I was 3 years old!
This Is A Classic!!!
Gene Chandler had another hit in 1970 (18 years later) with "Groovy Situation". It's a good tune and worth a listen.
Just streamed this. Awesome song. I remember this song on the radio and never realized it was Gene. Fits right in with the Spinners and other soul stuff. Thanks.
@@captainsatellite2112 70's music can't be beat but the 60's were a close second.
1978 had a uk hit with Get Down
That chord change when Gene sings "Yes I.........." and his backup singers switch their repetitive "Duke Duke Duke of Earl" chant to their series of "Aaaaaahs" is magical!
Also just wanted to say, love your channel. You are always so positive and chill and would have been cool to listen to tunes with back in the day. Rock on.
This brings back some great memories! When my older sister turned 13, she had a birthday slumber party. My mom bought a little case filled with 45 rpm dance records. Duke of Earl was in it. Of course, Do The Twist by Chubby Checker’s was included😎❤️
I was a child when this song came out and I absolutely loved it. I have loved it continuously for decades. It is just too fun. I used to play it on my walkman in the 90's as I did my mile walk, singing from the top of my lungs.
Hey, Shawn, Since you're doing all of these 50s oldies, I recommend you check out "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston, 1951. It is generally considered to be the first rock-n-roll song. It features Ike Turner and his Kings of Rhythm (called the Delta Cats on the label).
Oh yes! Thank you Shawn. My friends & I used to do a line dance to this song. It was in the early 60’s…love them 60’s! 👍👏👏👏♥️
Love these early 60' Motown sounds. Now you can take a deep dive into the girl groups of that era. I always loved The Dixie Cups, The Shirelles, The Chiffons, and of course The Ronettes to name but a few. Thanks for the reaction, and the earworm! Blessings.
Oh yes, like the Shirelles, "Foolish Little Girl"! They were George Harrison's favorite, he often declared.
Also the Supremes! 😀
Here's documentation of George's infatuation with the Shirelles (and a great video about his solo visit to the USA during a holiday from Beatlemania in Sept 1963): ruclips.net/video/IPJiZZE9aDI/видео.htmlsi=o_dOVTntQ2wYJyEb
I was a kid when this song came out, and we all danced the Gene Chandler walk.
Rainbow is another song by Duke Chandler.
Enjoy 😉
Another fantastic oldie I discovered on the oldies radio station
GREAT PICK! I’ve always really loved this song! Always a fun and informative reaction with YOU!
It was a sad (but very rare) day I would lunch at Ed Debevic's and someone didn't put this on the jukebox. I loved this song to pieces 40 years ago when I first heard it.
Another great song was from Jay & The Americans…” Cara Mia! “ Shawn, this song is fabulous from the 60’s!👍👏👏👏💜☮️
I was 12 years old and listened to Top40 am radio when this was popular. I loved it! The song has aged well and is fun to listen to.
My Dad who had an amazing singing voice used to sing this around the house
Greetings from Australia - nice to see a reactor reacting to different songs and not the same ones everybody else has done.
Another song done by "mistake" is Misty by Ray Stevens. Stevens and his band were just mucking around with the song and someone said that they should record it...it ended up winning a Grammy Award.
I was eight when this song came out. Loved it then and now! Yeah, it is do wop in my book!
I had 2 pets as a child. One was Duke (for this song), the other Tower (Tower of Strength by Gene McDaniels). And they actually came running when their song was played.
You should give Tower of Strength by Gene McDaniels a listen. I think you'll like it.
Great choice. Always loved this one. Pre-Beatles music had their moments and this one just had that groove.
Thanks Shawn
A 90s rap group called Cypress Hill sampled this at the beginning of their song Hand on the pump
If you ever get into that genre check it out
They are great
Loved when the guys sang this on an episode of The White Shadow.
Got to see this one live.
When i was in probably 3rd grade a group of us boys just started randomly singing this one day at recess.
I'll walk through my dukedom :)
A massive hit for Mr. Chandler, it was everywhere, great find bro.
I bought a later song a disco hit in uk Get Down….decent hit still have that single
OH Goshhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love this song !!!!
Always loved this song
Great feel this song.. you felt it your a true reactor.... great songs you Pick keep it up.. say no more ☮️🇦🇺🇺🇸
Yes, this is a "doo wop" song, typical Philadelphia style harmonizing. popular from the late 50s (58-59) until the Beatles started releasing music in 1963. There are dozens of songs in this era that are considered classic Americana. To make it easy, the soundtrack to the movie AMERICAN GRAFFITI is a great collection of many of the top hits.
In the early 1980s, some people I knew wrote a satirical version called "Nuke the World" which is now all I hear!
So fun those times were magic!!❤
Gene Chandler "Groovy Situation" 1970 next!
It's kinda funny - saying your the duke of earl is like saying you're the king of prince.
Try Ivory Joe Hunter and his song called ( Since I Met You Baby ) from 1956
Thank you great song
One of Do Wop's classics.
doo - wop. a genre all it's own and this song exemplifies it. HUGE hit
Doo-wop don't get much better than this.
.
ANSWER SONGS are an interesting phenomenon in early rock and roll. I definitely suggest if you want to look at them, you do both the original and the answer song in the same episode. The most interesting original-and-answer pair, to me at least, is the pair "A Thousand Miles Away" (1956) by the Heartbeats and "Daddy's Home" (1961) by Shep and the Limelites. Both songs were written (in part) by James Sheppard, who sang lead vocal on both songs. The first song is the lovers' suffering their separation, and the second is about their reunion.
"Hot Rod Lincoln" by Charlie Ryan in 1955 was an answer song to Arkie Shibley's 1950 "Hot Rod Race".
Of course there continued to be occasional occasional answer songs long after that era, like Carol King's "You've Got A Friend", answering James Taylor's "Fire and Rain".
🥰🥰🥰
Good one!
@ shawn. How do we get u to react to billy stewart s version of summertime?
Love this song. Its one of those things ull find yourself singing at random throughout your life.
Gene Chandler is one of the few singers to achieve chart success spanning the doo-wop, R&B, soul & disco musical eras 50's-80's. His 2 biggest hits were "Duke Of Earl" & "Groovy Situation". But he recorded a lot of great songs such as "Just Be True", "Nothing Can Stop Me", "What Now," "Rainbow," "I Fooled You This Time," "Think Nothing About It," "A Man's Temptation," "To Be A Lover," "Bless Our Love", "You Can't Hurt Me No More" etc.
♥♥♥
Doo-Wop...how can I remember every word every beat of this afyet 50+ years!!
