Thank you for this and everything else you bring to RUclips. It is so wonderful to have a real DP talking about actual filmmaking amidst a seemingly endless sea of "content creators" bickering over rolling shutter readout speeds, codecs, and bit-depths. Thank you for talking about LIGHTING instead of reviewing lights. Thanks for your breakdowns. Thank you for discussing the day-to-day concerns about working on a set, trying to make your days, and how you think about the story. I know managing a channel is time-consuming but we all really appreciate what you do :)
Man, I recently picked up the FX30 for myself and the more I've used it, the more I've been loving it but honestly, seeing stuff like this being shot with it makes me a thousand times more excited to keep filming and improving what I can do with it. Beautiful images Lewis!
@@RegalVisions Oh, thought you were asking Lewis as well. Uuuh, well ever since it was announced it looked like it had pretty much everything I needed for the style of work I do, plus I had already invested into APS-C glass so price wise getting an FX3 and a switch to full frame lenses just didn't seem like something I really wanted to do. I personally think that, for a lot of people, getting a full frame camera isn't going to help what they're struggling with filmmaking wise. Don't get me wrong, I think the FX3 is an absolutely amazing camera, but I also think that, as long as you're aware of certain limitations that the FX30 has compared to it's bigger brother and you can work around them, it's almost as amazing for like half the price. And when Lewis and other creators post stuff like this video, it just becomes even more clear that you can definitely produce some beautiful work even if you don't go the full frame route. Hope that was a good enough answer :)
The piano jazz track during the second half of the video just hits different. Thank you for entertaining us with this montage, Lewis. I remember finding you on RUclips a year ago and being so excited every time you uploaded a new video. I hope your career as a cinematographer is flourishing more than ever!
Hey Lewis, It's Luke from Location Equipment. Love to see the new content, and a different style as well quite fancy, I like it. I have to say this one made me laugh quite a bit. Love to see more. Eager for the next upload.
People keep talking about FX30, but f that - the video itself was amazing! Some suspense, interesting story, some funny moment, beautiful imagery! That’s a little masterpiece of filmmaking in and of itself, regardless of a camera or a lens it was filmed on! Bravo!👏🏻
I've been looking for Fx30 footage that sells me on that camera, so far I think only yours has done it! Still, I'm not 100% sold, I'm torn between the FX30, BMPCC 6k and Sigma fp...
Ain't that a coincidence, I happen to own an FX30, and yesterday I noticed the DZO Pavo's made it to a local rental house... time to give those a spin :)
Beautiful work! If I did a "daily Routine" video, it would be me sitting here watching this video. So you can just imagine it, then I don't have to make a video.
Your shot at 0:53 earned you a subscriber. As a 44-year-old, I have lost count of how many times I've thrown a little tennis ball like that, overthinking my life.
Just grabbed a FX30 of my own and I'm blow away by the performance for the price. Possibly the best video specific camera for the money right now. Great stuff!
I love the effort you put into these shots. Especially the interior shot of the car while you're driving and pulling up to your house at night-mimicking the headlights blaring through the windows onto the wall... I understand that cropped sensors isn't ideal for lowlight shoots... I'm curious how you made them looked this good! Can't wait to see your breakdown of this piece! I love your content and visual aesthetics mate! Please keep making more of these🙌🏻🤍
There are lots of sony cameras similar to this one, like the sony a6700. However, the more I get into my career as a cinematographer, the more I want something that is functional just as much as good looking in image quality to have in my personal kit. Because you have an APSC sensor in an FX3 body, you are able to rig the camera out, and get more peace of mind without having to worry about overheating issues. You also have a lot of options for LUT and cine EI iso control which you don't see in other more consumer Sony cameras.
Love loads of halation/abberation done tastefully. Is this usually a characteristic of the pavo lenses or did you add/emphasize it with a matte box filter? Also looking at getting a FX30 as a good everyday type cine camera, and rent anything beyond that for now. Of course filmback doesn't matter as much as skill and lens, but excited nonetheless to upgrade!
Thank you for throwing the dzo’s on a more prosumer camera to get a feel for what qualities the lens has vs. a high end cinema camera. Amazing work. Once again, you are my favorite RUclips DP!!!
Amazing video, what did you think of the pavo's and how did they compare to the proteus and the atlas, do they clean up when you stop down and what focal length/anamorphic lens would you recommend between proteus and pavo?
You’re absolutely smashing it mate, beautiful stuff and wonderful story too. Looking forward to your breakdowns, thank you for your work, one of my favorite channels and I consume an embarrassingly large amount of content on this platform.
this is absolutely incredible lewis
Thanks g 🙏

This comment hits hard.
I came here to cleanse my self after a “content creator’s” reel that just got fed to my feed.

Thanks George!
Can I ask your thought process on the FX30 over the FX3? Im just curious.
@@RegalVisionsMy guess is that it's because the DZO Pavos are S35 and the FX30 is APSC. FX3 is full frame.
I was actually asking George the comment above why he purchased it over the fx3. I figured that’s why Lewis had his setup

It's so messed up that Cameron stole the idea for Titanic from you
nice books at 0:54. Conversations With Darius Khondji, Byways, and On The Sunny Side of the Street.
Good eye
@@lewispotts Hi, very good video. Did you use an ARRI camera in the minute 1:30?
I might honestly be in love with you. Not really. I'm married. But you know what I mean.
Love this dude
This was so fun! I'm a sucker for mood videos like this. Thank you Lewis, beautiful shots! Can't wait for the breakdown video

This is so cool to see Perth shot like this :)
That glass 🔥
this is magnificent
BRUCE HORNSBY.
FX30 is the most slept on camera out right now. insane value and far more than anyone ever needs to get good images today.
the amount of noise in this camera is probably why those shadows are so crushed!
@@bmefilms6879 it has no noise issues I have it

Hilarious and also incredible to watch. My question is which Lenses did you use from the set? Looks fantastic, thank you!
Bruce Hornsby called and said he wants to score your next video! No charge! Gratis, baby! Nice vid.

Mr. Potts, we love you!
I keep telling myself the price/performance of the fx30 is too good to be true but here I am blown away once again. One day I'll learn and buy one lol

I didn’t add any additional halation, mostly the lenses
Amazing, thank you for the answer. Which focal lengths did you use? Did you get the whole set?@@lewispotts
this was lovely... thank u
Beautiful imagery. This kind of work inspires me to shoot more with my FX30. Thank you.
Delicious.
Bruce Hornsby! Nice!
youre such a dope story teller, you could've shot this with a GoPro, and it would still hit the feels!
