Just had an idea if paradox could implement it down the line. Would be good if each manufacturing building had an area around them where you could place the warehouses. But instead of using trucks to deliver to the manufacturing buildings, it would use forklift trucks. So it creates one big area, where you wouldn't need roads and would look a bit more realistic.
Could be part of the district mechanic. Like a decision that transports should be don with forklifts if pedestrian connections are available and it's not too far.
@@kaltaron1284 Like a mixture of the surface painter and district tool. You'd still have to place the warehouses on the roads for delivery, but forklifts pop out the back and deliver the goods to the factory.
I guess you could change the specific vehicles with a mod.
@@martinreinders6870 Forklifts doin 40 or 50 kph and using normal roads would look kinda silly though. Or you would somehow build streets "inside" the factory complex and replace trucks only there.
@@kaltaron1284 Don't know the name, but you have a road without curbs in the "small" section. That is 20 kph. The area could be asphalt painted, add some extra objects. Incoming trucks will use it too, because slow traffic inside factory area.
May be Sam or Two Dollars Twenty would try this once?
Now that you've hit the max tier of city sizes you should install the Mod that allows you to purchase more squares.
I may do :-)
Does that mod have smaller milestones? Like in vanilla?
@@ChewbaccaDavis No milestones for the mod, just the ability to buy new squares.
You don't get to purchase the other squares until you get to the highest level. But even then, only get the center 25, because the outer 56 don't work properly.
@@wschmrdr In fact, it's in those outer squares where train traffic becomes common. Sometimes it's required you move the node to make the trains move, if not they get stuck.
I have never played Cities Skylines, and I have no intention to because I just don't have the patience for all the fiddly bits, but I am bloody well transfixed by this series. I look forward to every single episode. Keep it up!
Also bonus points that I know almost exactly when this was recorded because the rain was mental here too!
Glad you're enjoying it, thanks :-)
I bought it because of these video series, reminded me of the good old Maxis / Sim games
"uppity, uppity, no-
Downity, downity"
There's your classic "horkyborky" and "hugos" and then there's just crazy stuff like this.
Another great video, Biffa!
Thank you 52Hz Whale :-)
"megalopolopolis"
He's probably 6foot 7 and all muscle as well....Biffa.
Beginning to sound like Tom Bombadil XD
To make the fire helicopters more efficient, I dig a small pond near the unit, so the 3 helicopters waste less time pumping water. They don't have to make a long trip back and forth to the sea or the river !!! 😁😁😁😁
I just made a similar comment XD
@@PerfectAlibi1 Me too !! :D
Right !
Good idea :-)
I thought I recognized your name! You're the creator of the map Biffa is using, right? If so, I must say it's fantastic. Well done m8.
I don't think money will ever be a problem anymore.
The only thing I miss in this new area is public transport, other than that, I like it ☺️
It would be great if Biffa made some big train network around the city and maybe create 2 villages connected to it.
You may have given him the theme of the next episode! 👍🏼
11:58 is my favourite "nice" ever
dong noice
Love this series. Favorite Cities youtuber. 😃
Yay, thank you!
Every time I watch one of your videos I think 'Oh WOW, that's a great thing to do, I can't wait to get back in game.' Then in game I think, how does Biffa make it look so easy! How on earth do you operate the keyboard and mouse so quickly? I still consider myself a noob, however, watching you, gives me faith that I will improve overtime. Thanks for sharing Biffa, always fun and informative 👍
Thanks for the video again, had a hard day today at school... Gonna cheer me up massively!
Enjoy :-)
Hi Biffa,
I've noticed with the node controller in a rounabout the setting above 20 can make your car stop for a while. By playing with the number you can find the best setting to make your traffic smooth.
Loving your videos.
Cheers
26:42 what a flippin neat and fun outro there! Your video editing has gotten pretty darn creative and professional over the last 3 years!
Finally someone putting crosswalks away from roundabouts! You've made my dreams come true, Biffa.
I will never understand why they're there in real life. As a driver, I must leave the intersection as quick as possible. Who put the crosswalk right where I'm accelerating?
Some of your fast detailing can go slower. I also like these parts of the process.
Great looking build! Very cool look to the factory areas with some cool new assets! The cargo airport sure does make a ton of traffic!!
That was great Biffa. I really loved the last bit with the view out the cargo doors and the mountains in the background. Looked just like the view out the window in the Bozeman (Montana, US) airport. Then going into the night view with the moon rising. That was so cool.
😁👍
I was doing homework while watching this, and it was so good I nearly forgot I had homework in the first place
yikes!
*sips tea*
I remember when that happened to me. I completely forgot that I had books and pens in front of me while I get absorbed into watching biffa
Great job biffa...loved the night clip right at the end
Love your videos, Biffa! I still watch your Oxygen Not Included series for relaxing.
:-)
always happy to see a new biffa skylines video in my notifications. Loving this series mate!
Glad you like them! :-)
G'Day Biffa, another great addition to Tea Port. I've been watching Tea Port since its inception so I feel invested in it. Your "Biffa Plays Indie Games" videos have entertained me since the first traffic fix that I watched, you are very easy to watch and explain things very well, thank you.
Thank you Wayne Davis :-)
Love your work! Keep it up.
Much appreciated!
One of my favorite of your recent builds. Looks great!
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks Biffa! love your videos! Greeting from England!
New episode!! Been waiting for this
Nice 😁 that old brick warehouse looks brilliant 👍
Great videos, great series!
Lovely .... Thanks
Can’t wait for the next. 👍
Thank you too!
20:25 - What I've found works well on 3-direction traffic circles is to cut them in half. So you would do 2/2 lanes in the half-circle, but a 2/3 in the middle of the circle as a turning on / turning off - with a lane-change node in the middle (plus a node or two of 2/3 on the two exits of the circle for lane mathematics). This keeps the straight-through traffic going much quicker (not having to merge into the circle, and the left-turning traffic from the circle only needs to cross one way of straight-through traffic to get into their dedicated lane. If it does back up dramatically, a *quick* 1-way stoplight at the entrance to the circle will allow the backups to clear easily, since it's *only* the traffic needing to cross the one direction to get in/out of the turning lane. Yes, it's a fair amount to set up, but having straight-thru traffic not have to stop and merge is massively beneficial.
Awesome episode! This side of the city is looking great as well. Perhaps it's time for a campus area?
Looks fantastic, so excited to see what comes next.
That last shot inside the cargo airport with the moon rising is so cool!
As I'm not English Speaker it was hard to understand you firstly but now I improved my English because of your videos!! 😂 I love your content
I think the guy that made node manager said in his demo video that anything larger than 18 started to get treated as risky, so vehicles slow down
Nice episode! Please, add the modular house factory from the last episode! Maybe you have not put a warehouse for the factory products in front of the soft paper factory! 😉
Looking good, Biffa! 👍 Can't wait for the airport! 😏
So relaxing watching this.
That last timelapse was pure art!
5:35 This might be obvious to a lot of you, but I recently discovered in order to get MoveIt to do what I want in terms of sloping and leveling, I need to choose "use elevated road pieces" with Fine Road Tool. If I use ground level roads, MoveIt builds dirt mounds for support and in addition to looking ugly the slopes are in ugly, jagged steps. If I'm sloping with MoveIt and elevated pieces, it does what I want by making gradual sloped roads with supports underneath.
👍
love the new area and all the factories! I wonder though if all the industry areas are keeping up with all the new demand, plus an increase in production will also obviously fill the demand for industry
Good Morning Biffa, Great coming home after work to a new Video!
Good morning! :-)
Wooouaaaah. Fantastic layout!!!
Woo I’ve caught up with teapot now! Now to watch all of your “fix it” videos
Enjoy 👍😁
Liking the new forest area and the new cargo airport. But I’m waiting with baited breath for the cargo port, and the addition of the cargo train interchanges.
25:20 Pelican, I believe is what they are usually called (Pedestrian light controlled)
So proud, you did it you hit "megalopalopolis" !
Your silent overviews could be slower? I slowed down one of your quarry builds to 0.25× (RUclips settings) and it looked really good - trucks lumbering around throwing up dust etc.
Even the traffic fixes might look better at "rate 1"
*Love the channel- May your tea never be cold.*
Offices irl: Places where people come to work, in the centre of cities
Offices in cities:skylines: just casually plop some offices next to industrial waste
The perfect timing for lunch break and a cuppa tea
Enjoy :-)
Municipal airport with transit hub time!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED TO SEE IT SOON!
Keep up the great gameplay, Biffa. 👍🙂🌞😎
Thank you 👍
Why do I get so happy when Biffa uploads?
Is the forestry expansion included in the district? I don’t remember you expanding the district paint to include it. Love the series!! Keep it up!
Looks great! Do you need an output warehouse for your soft paper factory?
State police and city police in San Antonio all had their helicopters at the municipal airport I used to fly out of. When Biffa went for those helicopter services, I was hoping he'd put them by the airport. :)
Cargo airport name Fly-Tea Heights
or Teathrow. (Could be a reference to Heathrow Airport as well as that Boston event...)
I know I'm commenting on a video that is more than a month and half old, but when it comes to grand terminals for cargo traffic like the airport or certain railway depots, you need to mind how truck-drivers back-in to the docks from the road. Since those cargo terminal assets have loading docks facing the road, truckers need to approach it from the appropriate direction.
If you must do one-way roads approaching such terminals in the game, then have the access directed clockwise. That way the building is on the truckdriver's left --the easier for the driver to back his trailer in.
In the case of the UK, Japan, Thailand, and other countries driving on the left side, then the loading docks should be on the driver's right.
The point being is that truckdrivers should turn their trailers in the direction corresponding to the side their steering wheel is situated --again, the easier for the driver to see where his trailer is going.
13:05 Your new airport road is full of doughnut and hotdog trucks .... ?? I think you will need more healthcare soon ;)
Upload 12 seconds ago :D
Greetings from one of your fastest German Viewer
Morning!
Just a pro tip: if you place two or more cargo airport/cargo airport hubs it will automatically transfer cargo locally.
For when you don't have enough road capacity for trucks to move heavy stuff, just put it into planes! Because it's easier for planes to move heavy stuff than trucks... Cities skylines logic in a nutshell xD
Dude, love your videos
Thank you Bradley Gilham-Hills :-)
Nice vid. Maybe it's time to move some of the generic industry next to the big high density residential area as it's a bit too close don't you think?
And farming
I always smile when biffa uploads :)
P.S the rain is going ham on my roof as I'm watching this too lol
😁
So much smoothing, I had to make me a smoothie. 😆
A Green "Tea" Smoothie 😂
Biffa:
Now lets make it a bit smoothie smoothie.
Me:
*drinking a smoothie,* *gasp* is my smoothie smoothie smoothie!?
I can see "smoothie smoothie" become another Biffism.
You should build a sports city or an olympic park.
And a dam !! And a dam.....
On the main road near the house factory, make a round about with a connection to the Highway so the cargo airport traffic can by pass a few of the intersections near the treefarm
What mod do you use that noise and regular pollution does not affect your residents?? Seeing you placing them so close to the farming and hi density commercial.
Great tips! I’ve had the node controller mod downloaded for a while. I’ve made sure to turn it on in the game. Any ideas why it won’t show up on my screen? I can’t use it at all.
Can’t wait for the train to connect to the cargo hub and the port to be created!
the airport and the roads to it look like a little single-burner thing with a pot on top XD it's cute
Coming from a supply chain management side I‘m hurting at all the „Full warehouses“. 2 full warehouses of plastic right next to each other (toys and housing factories) is very „unrealistic“ because stupid amounts of inventory. Supply could also be secured by a single/shared warehouse, or regular deliveries by train possibly?
that brick warehouse is niceee
I love City Skylines I love how you do your city I love the content you make❤❤❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌝🌝
Thankyou 😁
I notice that your roads are constantly at the wrong elevation...if you use the HOME button, that will reset their height to the terrain level instead of forcing the ground model of the road (but it's still being elevated above the terrain, as you can see at 18:37); hopefully that should help reduce the amount of weirdness in building height placement and necessary terraforming when doing these builds!
I want them to add in a nice retaining wall option so you don't have to level everything excessively to make it look nice. A nice little brick retaining wall in an industry area would be perfect.
You should make the metro go from one airport to the another while going through the centre of the city. It would be very busy but save car trips=less traffic🙂
Great job, as always. But.... (there's always a but). But(!) you have to dig a pool or a pound near your helicopter fire station. It will helped them to take water quickly. In the same time Isn't your cargo airport too close to the highway ? Maybe, you have to bury it a little. That's all. Thanks for sharing.
When you are making the junctions more rounded, you are also making the area where "Don't enter a blocked junction" acts also larger. That's why vehicles are lagging near the industry. 13:25
Since you don't have much traffic in the roundabout I think you can put enter blocked junction and keep the larger radius.
The speed limit on those four-lane roads is only 40 km/h. You can make them faster if you want to. For example, the three-lane roundabouts are 60 by default if I remember correctly.
Biffa, when you add an export means do you find the income streams for the city changing for the worse? My last city I had external cargo connections by plane, train and ship and found I could never make money. This last city I have started has trucks as the only external cargo link and I have had 229,000 dollar weeks, seldom do I have a dip into the negative. I wonder if there is a connection with the industries DLC and outside export connections, IE ship, rail and air cargo, not registering profit?
Ps I love the new Biffa and your renewed cities you take the time to create lovely industrial areas and districts for your cims, the results are very visually pleasing sir!
Nice one again :-) Does the "trick" of putting warehouses next to unique factories work also well in Vanilla or only with the "use the nearest warehouse"-Mod?
Sort of, but not as well without the mod 👍
25:55 When your traffic fixing is so perfect the food vans become trains
Traffic issue at 1:37 is because the industrial area lost an access to the highway over by the london eye about 7 or 8 episodes back. There is a traffic circle there that used to have a road from it, that went to the highway right there. Rebuild that connection and the traffic should sort out nicely
18:14 - where two Asymmetrical roads meet... Did they add a new road marking? In the past I feel like it used to just bee broken lanes. Now it seems like they are joined with proper lane markings.
I, could be wrong, think that's the "Intersection Marking Tool" mod. Lets you do all sorts of markings for cross-roads, and slip-streams, amd other road crossings.
I think he mentioned in an older video If you use the in game asymmetrical lanes they automatically add a road marking, if you use modded ones they don't. Because Biffa has both sometimes they do sometimes they don't depending on the ones he picks because they are the same.
Maybe consider connecting the future port to the river. Canal maybe?
Building: has a big parking lot
Npc: complains.
Building: upgrades.
I like how there is a huge fire DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE FIRE STATION.
Cough him up! Where's the real Biffa? Where are the Rocks? XD
Seniac screaming while watching Biffa: Its 10 by 10 turn
Is there a way to “hide” roads that I will never use in the selection menu?
For example: when going to choose a road I have to scroll through way too many to get to the 3 or 4 I only ever use. It’d be nice to choose which roads I can hide to clean up that selection menu.
(Same goes for the tree selection, etc)
I've had a lot of trouble with fire stations not spawning fire engines in this game. Had fires burning down buildings. Never thought about putting fire helicopters in.
Hi biffa please could I have a link to that 4 lane bike road asset as I couldn’t find it on the workshop? Thanks.
It might be time to move the farm to outside the city and make a small farming community as you did with the forestry. But keep up the great work!
👍
Me: mega-lopo-lis.
Biffa: mega-lopo-lopo-lis
I think it’s about time you do a underground metro like every major city
Biffa, try using Node Controller on your walking paths over your roundabouts.
nice ending timelapse!!!
Thanks! :-)
What I've wondered is how you got trams and no apparent need for heating? I haven't used any snowfall maps, and even mossissobo (sp?) and invariably there arises complaints about being cold.
I'm not using a snowy map 👍
