You join us as we continue our journey from land to water!
We start this week with reviewing the various options open to us with regards to the boat. Do we buy just a Hull, The Sail Away, Fully Lined or Fully Fitted option? There is much to discuss and think about. We also share with you how to go about financing the boat build and again how to stage pay for the boat whilst in build.
We also take a visit to Mercia Marina and meet with the team at the marina and discuss how we go about getting a Residential Mooring on the marina,. We also get the opportunity to take a tour of the facility. We then decide to put own name down for a residential mooring!
This is our third weekly vlog and Love Life Triumph would love you to come along with us on this journey from Land to Water!
Enjoy the vlog and please don't forget to like and subscribe, after all its free!

    Wow your hair changed colour.
    Amazing colour 😊
Glad you considering euro cruiser seems nice to be able to steer boat with a wheel. Plus you have a lovely deck to sit and enjoy your surroundings. Aqualine also do nice boats. But hull important factor. Tyler Wilson and colecraft do excellent hulls. If you get a reputable hull the depreciation is considerably less. Plus looking after any boat reduces its depreciation. Don’t forget to factor in fact when you own a house you tend to replace a kitchen every 10 years or so....just a thought.
If you have a motorcycle you can even get hydraulic lifts to get your motorcycle onboard your canal/river boat.....just a thought for future if you decide to go cruising if you retire early.
Modern boats have foam insulation, double glazing underfloor heating, stoves run on diesel or log burners and radiators etc etc....so getting cold almost certainly not a problem. Although getting a dehumidifier maybe cash worth spending...
Love the excitement and energy you both have 😊

Enjoyed your vlog again - one thing I think you omitted to mention with regard to marina moorings - you have the ‘luxury’ of unlimited 240v mains electricity .... and mains water of course. Re a purchase - if you go ‘Brand new’ and can stretch to 60’ (it may have to be 65’ to qualify) you will qualify for a VAT-excluded boat i.e. £120,000 retail boat will cost £100.000. Your choice of course, good luck as always. Thank you both.

I was defiantly born on the wrong side of the pond. For years I've wanted a home directly on the water.
Oh I'm sorry I live in New Bern, North Carolina, USA. Yes it's a river town with two big marina's full of a wide range of yacht's. in fact Hatteras Yacht's are made here. we have lots of liveaboard boats here everything from Hatteras yacht's to Gibson house boats and I've looked at them all and didn't like anything I found. So, I decided that building my own boat would be the best way to go. But all the designs I looked at seemed to be the same either to long or to short, to narrow or to wide. The interiors of all the designs where horrible one design said in order to get what I wanted I would have to give up a lot of storage space another design said I could have the storage space but had to give up something else. I just couldn't find something I wanted the way I wanted it.
So I got on line and started searching boat designs and liveaboard boats. after about 2 years of searching I came across the Diana Rose a tiny little DIY house boat designed by Roy Schroder up in Canada. for its size and what its made of it's an amazing little boat. I showed the video to a friend that lives in Austria Germany one day and he and I started talking about the design and hw simple it was. the more we talked about it and the changes we would have made. the deeper in to the discussion we got. finally after about 6 months I sat down at my computer and re designed and created what I thought our boat design would look like if I were to start building the boat we had discussed. When I was finished I realized I had just designed the liveaboard boat I had always wanted.
A 16'X80' wide beam Narrows boat made of marine grade plywood and kevlar. Complete with a full galley salon/dinning area as well as a master berth and two bunk berths and full heads at each end of the boat with a raised midship helm and its own cabin area. the design I created looks a bit like a modern submarine according to my design. the big problem I've found is finding a boat yard that is willing to rent me the space to build my little dingy. Now for the last couple of years I've thought my design was original a one of a kind.
Than Foxes Afloat popped up on my suggested watch list one day so I did and that was when reality struck me I wasn't alone and I wasn't as original as I had thought but I was on the wrong side of the pond.

Exciting times. My father owned a boat when I was in my late teens - early twenties. I was not allowed in the marina on my motorbike! Oh how times have changed. A couple of questions, coz I'm nosey.....is the bike going to be parked indoors, i.e a garage or weather proof storage? Also, whilst I realise you will fund the boat from your house sale, is it possible to get mortgages on a live aboard boat? I wonder because you say they depreciate so much.

    • @LoveLifeTriumph
      @LoveLifeTriumph  4 года назад +1

Hey Nick, cheers for the comments and questions. Really appreciated. In terms of the bike; the marina we have looked at offers both and to be honest Mr B would be happy with either because the facilities for bikes are top rate. Yes you can finance (not sure if it would be a mortgage or straight loan though) a boat but as you have suggested and we have investigated the depreciation needs considering. They do flatten out in terms of depreciation though. It’s just a shift of perspective that we need to manage. Thankyou again for the comments and questions. Mrs B xx

Stop..stop..really think about what your doing, had same idea 10 years ago and worked out bad. Please listen to me had boats all my life, here's some things your not thinking about. To get a drink of water you gotta fill your.tanks, to cool your fridge you gotta have off grid power, to wash your clothes you gotta take it up to marina, to have proper shower, up.to marina, to cook, get your gas up to marina or further, , to get your post, up to, to get diesel up to marina, This is only start of it, so many things your not thinking about. Leave sailing or narrow boat owning to those that know what's involved. Please believe me you will spend 90% of time solving problems.an only 10 % enjoying boating. Some other things, put aside at least.10% of cost of boat.to maintain it. Add up cost of marina, or mooring an probably more than mortgage, could go on and on. You seem like lovely couple and as harsh as some comments might seem please only offer advise cause been there. IRISH LAD.XX

Ken 1 thank you so much for the advice it’s really appreciated but we won’t be cruising., we are buying as a live aboard on a marina with a permanent hook up to the services. The likelihood of us taking the boat out will be remote as my husband works. Further down the line the thought of continuous cruising will be something to really think through because yes it will have its challenges. Thank you so much for the comments, really appreciate the time you have taken to give us these pointers. Mrs B xx
