Hayabusa: messes around, sometimes peppers the Buffalo but with no clear results, wastes all his ammo and calls it a day.
Buffalo: lived to fight another day and probably learned a thing or two from that engagement.
Next time, the complacent Hayabusa may have a pretty bad surprise...

Even though there was only 1 Ki-43 in that fight, you were outnumbered. Good job surviving with only a fuel leak.

Actually, the Hayabusa model 1 was a poorly constructed POS requiring a LOT of front-line mods just to make airworthy, and the twin light machine guns were ridiculous. Once fixed it could turn on a dime, but that’s about it. That said, it would make a fun sport plane… for someone under 5’6” tall.

The Bumblebee vs the Butterfly. I love both aircrafts. Unfortunatelly the Brewster fighter got way too heavy and underpowered as developement went on. For me the Hayabusa was maybe the most sleek and beautiful WWII Japanes fighter. It really flew like a butterfly.

A P-40 with an altitude advantage should be able to rip that Ki-43 to shreds and run away if it gets in trouble

Wrong version of the Buffalo for the RNZAF / RAAF. They flew the the terrible B-339E variant, which Brewster sold with badly reconditioned and worn out ex-commercial airliner engines (to increase Brewster's profits!!). These were underpowered and unreliable. The Fin bought the B-239 variant that came with brand new commercial specification engines.

I'm wondering who is actually flying these Aircarft in your Videos, is it you and another person, or are AI's competeing against each other. Cause the Buffalo really stood her ground while the Hayabusa felt a little underwhelming. She keept on wiggleing and allmost looked like she would lose controll at some points.
But anyway very nice Video, the Dogfights look amazing as usual.

The only way the Buffalo won was because the Oscar shot all his ammo out while barely hitting his target. Really bad use of limited ammo.
I called the outcome from the beginning when the Hayabusa shot a long stream of low caliber lead at the Brewster and hit nothing.
Nice evasion maneuvering from the Aussie.

@@tomekrol That and because the Finns flew a different model of the Buffalo, the B-239, which was much lighter (and a shade faster) than the lead-sled B-339 which the hapless RAF, RAAF, and RNAF flew over Malaya and the then Dutch East Indies. Pilots in those areas found that they could not even do a loop in a B-339! (The B-239 AND the B-339 had the same engine, but the latter was of a larded-up design.) Btw, some of the (most unfortunate) Marines who flew off Midway to meet the opening Japanese air raid on that island were flying the US equivalent of the B-339 -- the results were grim. After Midway, all remaining US Buffalos were taken out of front-line service

@@tomekrol You're very welcome. The story of the Brewster Buffalo can be an interesting one, and at times an odd one, the prime example being that a US-made plane was sold to an air force that needed it to fight the Soviets, arrived to late (for the Winter War) but we're just the thing for the next (the Continuation War), where the plane (the B-239) fought the Soviets so effectively while fighting alongside Nazi German forces (the Germans and Finns never were officially allies). And the US, where the Brewster were built was allied to the USSR and had declared war on Germany, but not on the Finns! The Finns remembered the B-239 version fondly, while the allied US, UK, and Australia cringed at the memory of the B-339 version vs. the Japanese Ki-43 and A6Ms, and into this day referring to it as one of (if not the) worst fighter plane of WW2.
