Thank you for contributing to this amazing show! You are an amazing animator and thank you for sharing the behind the scenes. We really appreciate it! :D
I'm jealous!!! My dream is to do some cleanup for a small scene in the show so that I can let the world know that I took part in the show and I can be super proud of myself!!! Awesome work!
As someone who's trying to learn animation, ty so much for taking the time to share with us your process, you don't understand how motivational and informinf it is :3
This is genuinely SO cool to see as someone who's looking into animation as a potential career, and just as a fan of the show, your explanation made a lot of sense and I really enjoyed seeing your process, thank you so much for taking the time to share this :D
Jesus you are so lucky to work on that show QwQ I'm dreaming about it. Also good job! Cleaning up is such a pain in the a** and jee you guys nailed that episode!
I'm glad you found it helpful. Was the timelapse too fast? Should I make it slower next time? This particular shot took me a week and half approximately
@@emptyvoid_ Thanks for the reply! Watching the video on x1 did seem a bit too flickery (that's timelapses for you, though). But then again, I deliberately slowed the video down to dissect the clean-up process down to every stroke. With that said, I think, other aspiring animators certainly wouldn't mind a slower-paced timelapse and it would probably be easier on the eyes.
I could just cry, watching the workflow of the clean up put into making a beautiful animation like this… No wonder Toonboom Harmony and Storyboard Pro is required on Spindlehorse’s job application. And they only take the best. I’m afraid I still have a lot more to learn about animations and the programs.
wow ok THAT'S Clean Up ?! I always thought it was just cleaning up the lines that stick out or over others (and I thought that was indeed a lot of work on hundreds of drawings) but it's actually much more than that ! So I'm even more impressed
WOAH that was a really great episode, especially when u see all details and caracters movin on, it's FREACKIn cool uwu Pd: i want to study animation, and i can see that being a mouse artist help me to clean up less painful lol
Ohhh this is what digital cartoon is like making. I always wondered why they said it was way more efficient and easier... looks great i can finally understand how they make digital cartoons!
Hi mini motion graphic animator here, props to you, I’m still using bao bones, Ai and Ae for animation(yes it’s my company animation). I’m like a one man team so it tired me out doing one scene a day.
Wow this is insane. I always thought rigs were involved to make the animation process a bit easier due to the complexity of...everything in this show lol. So is the show done entirely by hand with no rigs invovled at all?
Thank you for sharing your process! Really neat to see behind the scenes material for this show. What was the elapsed time? I’m curious how long a shot like this takes to finish, the details are amazing.
The video was 4 minute to show how 4 second of animation would made, even when video is playing fast and it was just about draw and color it,not shadows or back grounds, this is amazing how hard work they do to make just 4 second
Wow, this is utterly incredible- The movements are so smooth and it's clear that your work is of a very high standard- May I ask as to what software you use? And what recommendations you would make in order to smoothen animations to such a great extent? I'm a...very poor indie animator just starting out on youtube currently and I aspire to get to even remotely close to these high standards one day 🤣 Thank you very much for your time
The software is Toon Boom Harmony! They’re using vector lines for the lineart, which can help it look a lot more consistent and clean. Using vector lines can also speed up the cleanup process since it’s a lot easier to move them around rather than erasing and redrawing parts of your frame entirely ^^ Toon Boom Harmony *does* cost money to use, but there are quite a few different animation and digital art softwares you can use for free (or at least cheaper) to practice the fundamentals and get used to animating in general. I’d check out other tutorial and speedpaint videos to see what you can learn as well 😊 Happy animating!!💕
When You do this process do you guys color on the same vector lineart layer or color on a separate layer? Curious for how the actual perfessional process is🥰
It depends on what a certain project requires. Some people do it Perfectly Right and do divide into Color layer and Line layer, but I don't do it if it's possible not to. It's faster for me to color on the line layer. Although, if I was told that i explicitely must color on the color layer only, I'd go for that.
Some projects require division into two such sublayers that Harmony can give when it comes to using the node tree and use a complicated rendering scheme (it's a different system for every project from what I understand currently). I'm not proficient enough to say more about that though, still a long way to master this.
@@emptyvoid_ shit because I've since wanted to animate for vivziepop, though Still learning to animate for the skills!! so one day I can help her too. Thanks for commeting back!

So, i wanna to animation but I don't understand why they are using different colors. Can someone give me tips or tell me why they use different colors on the animation?
Damn I just would love to work on an actual production. Until now I have done everything in my animation process and I just don't believe that one person alone can do everything as well as a team of Storyboarder, Animatic Sketcher, Key-Animator, Inbetween-Animator, Clean Up Team; Compositor, SFX Effects Team, etc. I don't want to do all jobs halfheartedly again. I want to get into one Team and do my best at that particular job (Storyboarder for example)
