    This comic is deeper than you think. It may seem like a joke, but it does have meaning. Godzilla is sent to hell and is tormented by all the things he went through in his life. Like nuclear plant with the mutated monster inside(the very thing he was created from), or the wall of humans which represents all the humans he has killed, and Space Godzilla, his most dangerous foe. These are ALL demons that live inside Godzilla.
    Hell makes you face your deepest darkest trauma. But it seems Godzilla fears nothing, not even himself.

      It looks like they are referencing a bit of Dante's inferno and 7 or so levels of hell. Not all of them mind you, and not the really interesting version of inferno and what man will experience in hell when judgement day comes. Felt too fan fic.

    • @randomguy6415
      @randomguy6415 5 месяцев назад +7

      In this comic it seems that king ghidorah killed godzilla,sending him to hell as it was stated before there he conquers himself and reaches a level of hell that is his own version of heaven *the ocean* godzilla never killed,defeated or even won against satan and god because even the earth he destroyed was not real.

    • @galaxycamerata
      @galaxycamerata 5 месяцев назад +4

      That's the thing, though... Godzilla very clearly DOES have fears and trauma behind him due to how he ends up handling these scenarios.
      He's being put into situations that force him to confront a reality of his existence; People prop him up as a force of nature, as if he's some amoral, feral beast that can't be blamed for the destruction he causes... but he's demonstrated active, conscious thought in doing so, meaning that he CHOOSES to disregard people's lives for the sake of his own anger and spite. He seems to use that image in his mind as a way of shield himself from the doubt caused by thinking about it for any period of time. The final story of the book is essentially him accepting the weight of his own sins by allowing those whose lives he uproots with his rampages to have their pound of flesh. And in the end, after they acclimate to him after that show of vulnerability, they become his strength.
      This entire comic is challenging the notion that he's a god beyond good and evil, not just to the reader, but to Godzilla himself. It can easily act as a stopgap between the original films and the Showa era where he becomes more visibly heroic by showing how he got that way; He had a near-death experience as a result of a particularly petty and desperate action he took, realized that his own impulsive rage was getting him killed, and course-corrected.
      Or, assuming Godzilla DID die, he finally passed the one test that had been truly infront of him; He proved that he learned a lesson about using his strength wisely, and was allowed a second chance in a new life, with enough knowledge of his lesson to avoid his previous shortcomings.

    To give a little more context, Rob, Godzilla isnt always subjugating humans or smacking them around as you say. Godzilla simply roams the earth protecting it, and sometimes does protect humans. In earlier eras he was protecting humans up til a certain point. Afterwards because of the numerous amounts of threats around the world, Godzilla would fight those other monsters to claim the title as King of Monsters, but now Godzilla is simply minding his own business because there really isnt any real threats to him (until he met King Kong and Mecha Godzilla). (theres also the future movies where Godzilla is so powerful from all the nukes being fed to him)

      I completely disagree with you Godzilla is the enemy of mankind if you look at the comments from the original creators he was created as a punishment on mankind like the sacred beast of the Apocalypse is what they compared him to He's the punishment on mankind for creating nuclear bombs and he hates mankind he wants to kill everybody in his path when they portray him is not really wanting to hurt humans that's bull crap Godzilla hates humanity and that's the way it should be

    • @404Yaiba
      @404Yaiba 6 месяцев назад +12

      @@BruceWayne-ri4wr While I do agree that original premise of Godzilla was to punish mankind (in response to real life events in Japan at the time), the writers and the creator for certain Godzilla films made him a hero and not so much as a villain, possibly just an anti-hero (. It wasn't until we got Shin Godzilla where we got that original evil premise of Godzilla in the most horrifying way possible.) The Ghidorah film marked the first time Godzilla fought on the side of humanity. In fact, some of the Godzilla versus films conveyed him as a Good guy, but people can argue whether or not those films are "canon" to the Godzilla mythos.

    While many people THINK he killed God, he didn't. The writer of this issue explicitly said that he only ever killed God-Mountain, which is only a miniscule avatar of God. He also needed an amp from God himself to actually destroy God-Mountain. The writer himself stated that God could've punished Godzilla whenever he wanted, but CHOSE not to.
    Make no mistake, destroying God-Mountain is impressive, but he still needed a tremendous power-boost to do it. Just clearing up some misconceptions, if anyone needs my source I have a screenshotted message from the writer of this issue.

    Yo Rob could you talk about Godzilla minus one? It’s exactly what you love, Godzilla showing up, fucking up humanity, refusing to elaborate and pissing off back to sleep

    this story is basically someone reading Dante's The Divine Comedy and said "what if Godzilla was in it though"

    Hell yeah, was waiting for this. This is Godzilla just showing off, knowing he can't harm anything else but the enemy in front of him.

    Godzilla is a freakin beast I love seeing him going through enemy after enemy gauntlet style, the leviathan part with the “dragon looking thing” that is anguirus he was godzillas first foe and then first ally. In the movies Godzilla has a few ally’s that help him defend earth from bigger threats like alien invasions

    That "Dragon looking thing" at ~3:10 ish is Anguirus, an iconic kaiju from the Godzilla films that has both fought Godzilla and also teamed up with him against other kaiju. In a lot of the movies he's Godzilla's homeboy. The wings on those fairies or angels are Mothra wings, a clear tribute to Mothra who has also fought and aided Godzilla with her healing powers before.
    Edit: The whole Godzilla in Hell comic is a bunch of throwbacks to Godzilla movies basically. Such a fun read. Also, Godzilla does not scream like a girl. He roars like the King of Monsters. You should really watch all the OG movies. They're sometimes epic, hilarious, tragic, goofy, and worth the time investment. There are more references in this that I'm not goinna point out, but if you do go watch them you'll be like "ooooh shit so THATS what that part of Godzilla in Hell is referencing!!" Always fun to hear someone enthusiastic about Godzilla! Sounds like you really enjoyed it man. Much love
