Your attention to detail is incredible. The term ‘totally restored’ is overused, in my opinion. Oftentimes, the ‘totally restored’ car, truck, bike, etc. has a flame paint job, aftermarket wheels, custom interior, and so on. What I love about this channel is that you’re doing everything you possibly can to actually restore it to what the piece was on the day it came off the assembly line. Thank you for sharing what it takes to actually restore something. Cheers.

You did kind of get me going with using the old piston, but then i thought with you saying about not bothering to polish the bore i thought old piston being reused is fine. But i then thought naa, that's just not your style lol. Looking foward to the next instalment.
Seeing your bike in orangey red, with blue springs, and the yellow tape just catapulted me down memory lane, and brought back thoughts of a Suzuki GP100 I had. I was a 17 year old engineering student when I got that, so It went through a couple of incarnations before I rebuilt it as a café racer. It had a drop handlebars, a skinny single seat with a hump, and everything painted black. I ran it like that for about a year, and during that time the comment I KEPT hearing was "Why have you wasted your time modifying that? It's not a real motorbike. It's just a toy". 😒 Anyway. A couple years later a car knocked me off it, and once their insurance had paid out I decided to rebuild the GP yet again. It remained styled as a café racer, but this time I sprayed the frame and forks a nice pastel blue, went for an orangey red on the tank, mudguard and seat hump, went with a bright yellow for the wheels (Including the hubs and spokes !) and for the engine I decided on a gloss black........ Erm....... "TS250 SAVAGE" lump that I'd modified the frame to take ! 🙄 . With that all done I got a vinyl cutting place to make me up some "Fisher Price" logos for the tank, and "Babies first motorbike" stickers to go on the sides of the seat hump. I really embraced the "It's only a toy" comments and ran with it. For some reason women absolutely LOVED the absurdity of that bike, and turning up anywhere on it was an instant ice breaker (It was also responsible for me getting asked out for drinks on quite a few occasions). Bikers hated it, but most other people would walk past something like a Harley Electra glide to get a better look at "Babies first bike". 😀 None of my car obsessed friends ever did notice that engine swap though (And no one questioned why I didn't need L plates on it anymore either). They DID notice it was pretty quick after the rebuild though, but whenever any of them asked how a 100cc bike could suddenly keep up with their cars, I'd just mumble something like "Oh....... Polished the transfer ports" or "Free flow exhaust". 😁 Unfortunately a change of circumstances meant I needed to sell it to help fund getting a car. A young lady bought it, and I can't recall what I got for it, but I do remember she went for a test ride, then on returning was very chatty and paid the full asking price without haggling........ An explanation I like for this was that there wasn't much padding on that seat, and those 250 singles did vibrate quite a bit !🤣 I'd love to know whatever happened to it in the end, but it was half a lifetime ago, and I can't even remember the reg number now. 😥

I haven’t pulled apart a HPP since the late 80’s. Your video lets me do it again without even going out to the garage! That’s a pretty gross looking reed block assembly. I’ve never seen one that bad.
I had 2-strokes back in the '70s and '80's, was aware of 2-strokes with power-valves but never had/worked on them (I knew reed valves). This video series is a real pleasure, thank you RRC. All your videos are excellent and informative, but this Honda rebuild is extra special. Oh, and you didn't get me with the piston, I've watched too many of your videos to be caught by your tricky ways........
Never ever apologize for uploading a long video. Your videos are my go-to when I want to just sit back and relax. Best 30 to 45 minutes I will ever spend on a slow weekend.
Excellent work Bud, the production side of your videos has become better and better and is as good as your mechanical and restoration work. Nice to see the humorous touches too, it adds bit of humanity and shows your personality. It's good to be frugal too, as you have to watch the pennies but you do spend the money where it counts. For real penny pinching tips go to someone from Yorkshire. They are like Scotsmen that have had all the generosity squeezed out of them!🤣🤣

These are awesome restorations and videos. One thing that might help is you can tap the tape on raised letters and surfaces with a plastic hammer and it will make a natural exact cut of the tape. No need to use a razor blade, the cut is perfect, and it saves a lot of time.
I thought sure you would trick us on the piston installation with IN to the front of the engine - but hooray, you didn't! Thanks so much for your attentive considerations when recording and producing these videos. I'm hopeful you view counts are steadily increasing because the content and quality are both there. Fantastic restoration so far, one thing I would say is if you didn't replace the reed petals I would recommend that you do as they have a service life and if they are metal ones and they brake it would ruin your engine, can't wait to see the end result, keep up the good work 👍
Mate I hope the lower view count doesn't discourage you from bike videos in the future. This series and the bike were a masterpiece. On par with the 916.
That vapor blaster is awesome. I wanna have one too, and when I run out of bike parts that didn't need cleaning, I'd move on to other useless stuff like a jar of peanut butter just because it's fun to use.

I always use black permanent marker after trimming the gaskets on those edges. Gives me a cleaner look without some green or blue lines 😉
