Martin really seems like he's not paying attention, like his whole attention is elsewhere. You can see that he was trying to pay attention but at 1:24, Goodman lost him. Martin at 1:40 to 1:44 is me. We have the nervous/bored tic at 1:44/1:45. It's funny. I wasn't even 4 months old when this interview happened.

I think magazine used name Depeche Mode because one meaning is "by telegram" because telegram was very fast once and the line "Depeche mode" was always in the news and looked fascinating

Duran Duran just played a lot of funk after the first album while Japan though more interesting split after making their most arcane album. Duran at it's most artistic had Arcadia and that was simply baroque yet still big beat new romantic club pop
