Thanks for your input! We had same problem with it trying to avoid highways, etc. Had to uncheck this in settings. Also it is necessary to clear previous destinations as it adds the new ones to the old ones. As it did with your Glasgow entry which included Edinburgh.
You mentioned that Navigation took you down back roads and was terrible. I noted that when you set a destination in this video, you found that main roads/highways were excluded. This could have been the reason for the back roads in your earlier navigation.
