For plastic "welding rod", use plastic boxes that store-baked cookies, cake, brownies, and etc come in - go to the bakery aisle. Cut the plastic in strips about 3/16" wide. It's free and you have an excuse to buy the munchies. Also you can use the plastic that tools, toys, and other things are sold in.

*Tip* for your plastic/wood burner...😂 if you do need to add something to the plastic (because, let's face it, sometimes the pieces are not always there to replace) you can use zipties as an additive to whatever plastic piece you are needing. Found they work great. Also, *second* pro tip, if you need to reinforce the said broken plastic, you can use an "old school" soldering iron with a trigger, the kind with two probes and kinda looks like a gun, with some paper clips and melt the paperclips into to plastic first then cut off the excess and smooth it out after. I know that sounds confusing, so look up plastic reinforcement welder, and you can get an idea of what I mean and maybe you have one hanging around, and you won't have to buy the ones for sale.
Love this project, you're doing great. Keep up the awesome work

hey btw while you have the interior taken apart I suggest you spray glue some carpet insulation or foam in the under the panels and in the doors onto the roof too and in the corners of the cab it's where most of the noise comes from specially on gravel roads with the rocks hitting it really quiets down the entire thing and it's really cheap to do for a big improvement

  • @arosenberger87

For the ultra sonic cleaner: don't fill the tub with your cleaner, put the parts in a jar (plastic or glass) then put the cleaner in the jar. Place the jar into the water. It keeps the water cleaner for longer and you use less cleaner. Also easier to clean the basin out. For larger parts, but heavy duty zip lock bags. This allows you to use multiple cleaners on different parts at one time instead of waiting.
You can also line the basin to help with keeping it clean.

My experience with ultrasonic cleaner is they work really well with heat and time. If you let a part sit with heat on but no ultrasonic overnight then hit ultrasonic for an hour in the morning it will be practically spotless. Rust, paint everything. I use about half citrus degreaser from Home Depot, half water and a decent splash of dish soap.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great video and format, if it works for you it’s great for us. I think everyone who actually does things suffers from CFS “Can’t Find Stuff”. On occasion, the only true way to avoid is to stop doing things, wouldn’t recommend that. Just wait as you get older you will start to suffer from CRS, “Remember”, don’t worry to much, thankfully your married and she will remember all the important facts for you, just don’t forget she’s always correct. You might swear differently but it’s not worth the mental anguish to win battles and loose the war. Sorry I didn’t comment when you asked about the ultrasonic cleaners, yes buy as big as you can afford and then get one bigger. My one experience was when I thought I bought a huge one and it was barely big enough for a pair of glasses. 😂 looking forward to seeing your build progress, wishing you and your family the best.

When I do a water pump or timing cover with a bunch of different lengths, I draw the cover with a Sharpie on the box and poke holes with a utility knife where each bolt goes.
That way, as each one comes out I know which length goes is what position. 💡
If the parts store doesn't like holes in their core box, tell them to f off and find a better store.
