We in odisha cook boiled rice like this.and this rice is called usna chawal in odia.through out odisha and some parts of bihar chhatisgarh ,jharkhand and wb use this method to cook boiled rice.thank you.
Some people are so negative. Guess they are from Mars as they say they don't understand the video and it's long. Skip the video but stop being so rude you guys. And here I am just got to know I have diabetes and I can eat only little quantity of this rice. This helped me immensely. Thanks for the video 🙏
I love this video! I've been mustering up the courage to cook this rice as everyone tells me its hard to get it right but this helps. Also, if I want to use this rice in chorizo pulaav or a risotto, do I semi cook it in the pressure cooker and finish it off in the pot with the other ingredients?(it would take too long to cook completely in a pot, right?) I'm not sure if you'd know but asking anyway!
Thank you 👍.For pulav you better try the other variety of raw brown rice as it will cook faster & taste better. This boiled rice is only a healthier option but taste wise it will not suit pulavs .Still if you like to use it you can use fully cooked rice & mix other ingredients.
You shouldn't fill a pressure cooker more than 50% with liquids. Your cooker is dangerously overfilled and can explode. The rivets for the smaller handle at 3:40 are not "marks" up to which you can fill the cooker safely.
Hi, helpful video! But whats the exact quantity of water to be put in ratio with rice in cooker. For eg: 1 glass of rice requires how many glass of water?
Thank you. For 1 cup of rice you may need 7-8 cups of water. More water used helps remove excess starch. But make sure you use a bigger cooker or vessel to make it. Even after cooking you should have lots of water left above the rice which can be drained. You can cook in a big pot instead of cooker but it may take 1-1.5 hrs. After a good boil reduce flame to lowest & cook covered until done & then drain.
Madam, since my mom is from MANGALORE and she loves only boiled rice. But the problem is that it takes an hour or more if kept in a big vessel on the cooktop leading to lot of gas consumption. Cant we totally steam the boiled rice in the cooker itself. Please explain. Thank you
@@HomefoodrecipesJovitaNoronha I meant that by cooker method with how many whistles Can the whole water added in the rice for cooking be dried with cooker.
@@swapniltambe5530 If you wait till water dries rice will be mushy & absorb lots of water & be starchy .So whistles 3-4 are enough .1 on high flame & rest on low..Do not open lid soon after whistles.Open the cooker only after 45 mins atleast & drain the excess water.
You'll get something called as rice hotpot. After boiling you can keep the rice vessel in hotpot and it will continue boiling for a long time. Rice gets properly cooked in this manner with lesser fuel usage.
It may look useless, boring to you but there are people who stay outside Mangalore & request for such videos. And I add Subtitles clearly so that people read & understand. Thanks for watching
