Future tip - fill the holes in the cabinets with a wood filler epoxy as it will last forever and not chip out, contract, expand etc. The filler you used is meant for drywall, not wood or particleboard.

Thanks for the tip. I've only ever filled drywall so I'll use wood filler epoxy if I ever fill cabinet holes.
And plus, it looks horrible because of the texture after she painted the wood
She's going to replace the nobs back when she leaves. No biggie.

You have to wash it then sand it then wash it and let it dry and you can basically use any paint in a semi gloss, just definitely have to sand it first!
@@martakalinowska3368 heirlooms traditions makes an all in one chalk paint that has primer and wax/topcoat in it. It is a very durable paint that has a satin type finish and can be used on appliances and furniture, etc. You can see their tutorials here on RUclips and they'll have links to buy their paint.
Ummm, don’t listen to Mommyandbunny if you want the paint on your fridge to be durable and last more than a couple of months. For longer lasting paint, either listen to Carrie Fiddler’s advice ☝️☝️☝️or use an appliance epoxy paint like Rust-Oleum. If you’re going to use regular paint like Mommyandbunny did, you should at least apply a clear enamel gloss protective spray on top of that paint otherwise your fridge will end up looking like crap.
Having been a landlord I can say if one of my renters came to me and showed me what they want to do.....Id say have at it....It made her apt. look so much better....its a win-win for the landlord......Nice job!
PS.....A lot of renters arent this nice or this clean! Im no longer a landlord!!!!

Some landlords are fine with minor upgrades so long as they aren’t over the top. It’s absolutely recommended to check your lease, or talk to your landlord. They may surprise you.

I love all the people saying none of this is renter friendly, she added a disclaimer before any of it saying some of them were a little more renovative and that it was cleared with the landlord beforehand. None of yall actually listen.
Any project, even a relatively major one can be renter friendly. You just have to ASK YOUR LANDLORD if they are okay with whatever it is you're trying to do. Most will be fine with it as long as they consider it an improvement and they don't have to pay for it, but some may even deduct the cost from your rent if they're nice.
Yes it's always best to ask because it can't hurt I'd they say no or get upset if you didn't ask beforehand. My niece and her husband have done that with great results. The landlord appreciates them asking before doing anything and most times he gives them the supplies or helps them buy the right things. They've wanted to move away but they love the place even tho it's a rental and the landlord would hate his best tenants moving away 😊
I think what people are annoyed with is the title of the video when it is so different in the actual video people just get irritated and think of it as clickbait
feewaybilz nothing in the title says it’s “rental friendly” though. It just says it’s a rental makeover. That isn’t clickbait as that is exactly what the video is.

And the fact it says on a budget! That is not on a budget...that guy alone for his work would have cost a few hundred quid.
Adding warm lighting under the cabinets would really add to the space, especially in the evenings.
Or strip lighting that can change colors or even pulse to music LOL I love mine! 🤣

Haha, know what you mean. Only for me, it was the tiny jar of cereal. We would eat that much every day! But it sure LOOKS cute.

Ikr? The house I grew up in was built in the mid-1950s so the kitchen and bathroom were pink. We redid the bathroom when I was a kid but had that pink kitchen counter until we left in 2013.

just a friendly tip- my boyfriend and I have been renovating some areas in his condo. We decided to change out all the yellowing/ off white switches and outlets and it really made a difference.
be sure to turn the power off when you switch out the outlets :)

We put stainless steel in our kitchen!
One good trick for holes is to tap a wooden golf tee into the hole, cut off the excess, then sand and sparkle. This prevents slipping into the old hole if you are drilling close to it. BTW, my dream fridge would be vintage fire engine red.
It looked really nice but i honestly wouldnt spend that much on a rental unless the landlord would accept to refund me or deduct it from the rent lol
AtomicRoxi most of the time the landlord does deduct it from the rent i’ve gotten away with not having to pay rent before because of the upgrades i’ve made in her house
Brianna Griffin same i work in a ceramic store and i was able to convince my landlord to let me change the ceramic in the bathroom. We did and deducted it from the rent. But it was something that wasnt really expensive. I only have a half bathroom. Id love to be able to change the cabinets and all but ill be moving soon so its not worth the time and effort 🤩 also your landlord has to trust you because sometimes people renovate and it doesnt end up turning as nice lol and then the landlord is stuck with having to fix it again 😅
Yeah but she says she’s staying there long term. It’s not like she’s moving in a year. Sounds like she plans to stay for awhile.
It depends on how long you staying ? I lived in a rental for 8 years before so people that are staying long term could do this

my landlord was so happy when I sent him a list of things I wanted to do to this old house because I'm actually upgrading it and it kind of makes the property value go up. The light fixtures and doors were outdated and he said I can fix them. Also the walk in closet system is weird. the way the bars are lined up makes it hard for us to actually walk in, so hes happy that im fixing that as well. I was actually thinking about making videos on me upgrading my house because I estimate that its only gonna cost me $200 to do my entire kitchen. But its on my instagram story.

Believe it or not. There are places. I just score a in law tiny house and the owners told me go crazy make it your own no kidding. I am planning painting the walls :D
I live in a different country and have a small house which I gave for rent. They wanted to upgrade some things, I was more than happy to give them the permission. But I reduced and even sometimes didn’t take the rental money.
I never would have thought to spray paint my frig handles....wow, that really changes the appearance of your frig! It all looks really nice and well planned - I can’t believe what you accomplished on a small budget!
Also, you can lift the whole stove top up(on most, not all) to clean under the burner drip trays (yes what you replaced were the drip trays, not the burners/elements). This is a good tip, because it seems like you may need to give it a good cleaning.
Fun transformation overall.
Love this! All these tips are super inspiring. 💕 Tip: You can easily lift your entire stovetop (it’s hinged), wipe it out, and scrub it clean, when necessary, with a blue Scotch-Brite pad and Barkeeper’s Friend. (Same for burner drip pans, to keep them clean and free of build-up - you shouldn’t use foil in them.) Also, hardware stores generally charge less than $16 for burner drip pans, so be sure to shop around if you’re on a tight budget and need to replace any. (P.S. Never soak your burner coils- it’ll ruin them. Just wipe them carefully and dry well.)
If someone came into my house and wanted to spend their money improving my property to increase the value I certainly wouldn't have any objections.

When I rent the place the owner allowed said its was ok to resign the unit it came out beautiful
New mgmt saw the place and decide to move me into another rental same building now it's struggle no dimmer cannot burn candles in my home could not no longer Barb q out door , no W / D

Many saying they
You should have painted the drywall before putting those tiles on. Because, even if you heat them-the way you did it, it’s going to tear the paper coving off the drywall when you try to remove it. Just an observation.
I think she should of left the white thing and tiled on it.

My parents did that recently. They bought standard size and it didn't fit even though they have A standard size stove top. They were pissed
I love this makeover! I am a long time renter and my landlord has allowed me to make improvements, such as paint new knobs, etc. It makes all the difference in your quality of life and is an improvement/update that the landlord doesn't have to do. Great job! Consider me inspired.
This makeover is loaded with great ideas. I love the pink backsplash -- especially since you don't need to hire someone to put it in. And, the countertops look like ceramic tile. I would not have guessed them to be made of wood. They are spectacular. I just love, love, love your rental makeover. BRAVA!
I live in USA and I have a really tiny kitchen and to reface the cabinets the quote was $11,000 😂 I was like what?! Nope, I’ll paint them white
flower Star01 this happened to me too! home depot quoted 20,000 to reface kitchen cabinets with plastic vinyl stuff and someone local sanded and painted professionally for 5,000

I noticed that too, I was going to comment that the whole stove top usually pops up and has a prop to hold it there so you can clean up the grease and grime. I found out late myself lol

Looks great! Only thing I would change: lift your stove top and clean under there! It's super easy, most have a hinge and a holding bar.
Changing out the stovetop covers and spraying the fridge door handles... genius! I will be doing and will even take that idea to the bathroom and spray the metal towel rods.

What a wonderful Reno on your now adorable kitchen. I love love love those counter tops, the wood just makes it look so rich and gorgeous, also loving that farmhouse sink. I'm also digging that pink back splash, it's the perfect shade of pink, not in your face bright just nice and calming. I also love your choice in cabinet knobs, I use to be a gold girl, then got out of it, but this gold is nice and soft not a bright gold, and I think that I could really get back to liking gold again. I love how the finishing touches just made it look all pulled together, I love how it all turned out, Lol said love a lot, but it is so true. I agree a fresh coat of paint does wonders. Alexandra it is just a beautiful kitchen now, and I can understand how you love it. If I could have a mint green fridge I would do it in a heart beat. Thanks for sharing.

Love this Reno. I'm such a fan look forward to each episode. Gentle suggestion though the backslash should be primed and painted first before sticking tiles or paper of drywall will tear with removal of tiles. Keep up amazing work.

True not many rentals would ok this. But she explained at the start of the vid that she explained and asked permission for everything. Helps that she has some You Tube evidence that she does an amazing job so her landlord said hell yeah!
You’d be surprised when it comes to private rentals what they’re willing to let you do. It saves them money and makes the apartment more desirable whenever they move out
I would so let my tenant do this as long as we both agreed with the changes that are to be made. This definitely upgraded this apartment.😁💕💕💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🍾🏠

Wood counter tops are a nightmare. They’re so not functional. We had butcher block counter top for 2 years and it was horrible
Mary McRickard, if you take care of them and oil them they are no problem whatsoever! Had ours for three years and no problems.

The tiles are AWESOME 😻, your landlord y as to be very happy with the change.
My fav fridge color is the color of the cupboards, ie; I love those hidden fridges and dishwashers that blend right into the cabinetry.

It actually looks like it does open. Once the door is open it backs up against the sink.
