All opinions are my own. It's important to hire licensed professionals for certain projects; if you're unsure or unqualified, please don't attempt any projects seen in my videos yourself.
I know you weren't asking for anyone to apologize or change their opinions, but I went back and looked at my comment on the original living room video, and I apologize for how it contributed to the overall negativity of the comments section (and subsequently if that hurt you or Noah in any way). We as viewers don't know your relationship, don't know what you've talked about off-camera in terms of the design choices, AND like you said it was early in the overall home makeover and you were just learning how to combine your styles. So thank you for making this video and addressing it head on, and for having grace with us commenters. I'll do better in the future
That's a very gracious apology!
Good on you for taking the time to think about your impact on others and having the maturity to apologise. Soul growth moment... check! Keep going ;)
Class comment by the OP💜
Awww I love a good reconciliation!
Well done you 🙌🏻
As a 57 year old therapist, I am probably not your typical demographic. But I am moving to a new "city" and starting over with my home since I am in a new season of life and your channel showed up on my feed. I have been binge watching ever since. I am owner-financing my current home to my oldest and leaving nearly everything there. I adore your channel, you, and your crew. I am reading the book "Home Therapy," which, in addition to being beautiful, is written by a therapist turned designer. If you haven't seen it, I suspect you'd enjoy it.
I have to say I really respect how you addressed the negative comments and stood up for yourself in an authentic and elegant way. You could have ignored it or say 'screw the haters' and both would have been fine, but I think you handled it perfectly. It was honestly the braver solution and it was cool to see you move forward after that and have fun designing with the space together with Noah.
Amen!!!
I agree! Y’all better quit comin for my girl Alexandra 😭💓
Class act Miss A
Most of the negative comments on that vid were regarding her saying " 1 win, i always do" when Noah wanted to try a different light in the living room and she literally shrieked no no no no. Have you see this vid? Her reaction was immature and selfish. Yes we all make mistakes but the comments were not mostly due to the makeover but the way she acted. AND she did not address this for a long time.... i kept waiting, and she just happen to do so when she had a sponsor she could segue into..... She lays blame on the comments making her "anxious". Watching her shriek at the landlord and Noah made ME anxious. I have stopped watching. This came up on my feed and went to read comments so this is mine!
So I commented on this yesterday and my comment seems to have been deleted. If the whole "light debacle" had not taken place ( shrieking no no no and "i win, i always do) the comments on that makeover would not have been great but the reason people just let loose , IMO, is the entitled way you acted. Not addressing it ( extra mid week release showing A and N an all her peeps so happy after the doomed vid but no direct comment). THEN, it was "we didn't want to buy new things" "your comments made me anxious" and now here is my sponsor! I imagine its very hard to have the general public comment on your actions BUT you signed up for this and ask us to leave comments. I just hope this helps you gain some personal responsibility for the reactions to your actions. If that many people were turned off by the way you acted........
I’m 62, and own my own (very small) home, so not your demographic, but also, kind of…I love your channel, and your ideas. I love that you show how you make mistakes and have to fix wallpaper that won’t stick, or rugs that are too big, too small, and/or that you run into all the kinds of issues anyone doing renos runs into, from wonky walls, to air conditioners installed in the middle of the wall and then you find work arounds. It’s so real, so down-to-earth and so relatable. Thanks for saying, “it’s a process” - exactly! Keep it up, you’re doing great!
Haven't even finished this video yet but just had to say that this video epitomizes why I watch this channel: look at Alexandra come in and talk about mental health AND be vulnerable (multiple times: vulnerability surrounding her relationship, vulnerability surrounding her profession and process, etc.) AFTER all of that unkindness on the original video. Alexandra, you're an absolute gem of a human being.
Awww this is such a lovely, lovely comment. THANK YOU!!
@@AlexandraGater I appreciate addressing the criticism and how it affected you
@@itscarolinemary Well said 👍I totally agree! 🌼🍂🍁🍂🌼
you know that was an ad, right?
@@ursonate exactly I was like she’s getting sponsored by better help. She’s getting paid to be “vulnerable.” Plus better help sells their users data.
I'm a 72 year old viewer. Your design style isn't mine BUT your fresh ideas and upbeat attitude has me hooked. When you have viewers of so many ages, you know you are heading in the correct direction. P.S. I painted an accent wall 5 different colors before getting the right color. I tell people the room lost inches because of my project. One color was even chosen by a professional designer from Ethan Allen. Not my final color choice.
Hits or misses, I love watching you work and design! Don’t let anyone get you down, Alexandra! You are fabulous!!! ❤️❤️
Thanks Ashley!
I totally agree with you Ashley
I also agree with Ashley! You can NEVER please everyone!! ;>)

I love how Alexandra turns the negativity levied towards her into a troll/ opportunity with the collab with better help. I think that out of all of the designers I watch on youtube, Alexandra very clearly gets the most hate (Sorry Girls are second) mainly because she's young and her design style is super femme. I'm an architect, and what I think a lot of people don't realize how difficult it can be to develop an aesthetic, and to adapt that aesthetic to suit a client's needs and budget. There is a reason I consistently come back to this channel for ideas and inspiration, Alexandra is a good designer!
i would really like to see all those haters designing and making over rooms like she does!
Again, I have to ask myself why anyone would take the time to watch (or maybe they don't actually watch and make a snap decision based on a 2 min. view), devote their time to a RUclips vid. which is easily clickable redirectable, and then take their time to be negative. Haven't we all learned what random negativity does to our culture and our society? Two thumbs up for the upbeat, responsive, lighthearted (although, now i realize there's a lot more angst involved in this process than appears), and inclusive videos. I keep coming back because there's always solutions that I can use. At the minimum, I'm delighted by entering the lifestyle and living area of another person and escaping in a sweet way. I love your "crew" thank you so much Alexandra. (I'm just catching up on your videos).
I am a retired interior designer so I get it. Alexander has a design niche. And she does a spectacular job of creating bright shiny rooms in what seems impossible small weird spaces. She has an adorable team and she is pretty savvy and adorable herself. I love her channel. I am 78 and always learning . I got rid of my traditional pieces and turned my living room into an artist studio. All white shelves for storage of art related supplies and a daybed so I can take a break and lie down. Books of art and just books line the book cases. It makes me happy. It makes me sad watchers criticize her. . She and her team are fabulous.
Why anyone feels the need to negate a lovely human who entertains us on this free platform is beyond me. So sorry Alexandra. Everything you do is beautiful and creative and never let anyone tell you different.
I totally agree Lori 😊
I've wanted to say this for a while but I'm loving the new editing with the memes and with you showing more of your team and all the actual moments showing your bubbly fun self.
Only 10 min in, but just wanted to say: It's disappointing to see how *so* many people jumped to downright rude conclusions in the comments section of the previous living room video, as if they know what's going on in your life and relationship... Human nature never fails to disappoint. Noah is adorable, and y'all give off great vibes when you're on screen together. keep up the good work, Alexandra
I couldn't agree more!!
Can't help but noticed, that there is a small minority of watchers, who, for years at this point, criticize Alexandra, no matter what she does. I remember there was this lady a while ago, who wrote a long comment with things like "at least you didn't use pompoms in this one", and she couldn't even understand why I called her rude.
I’ve been watching Alexandra for quite a good while, and there have always been a group of women who critique her work, and it’s incredibly rude. Can AG not remove their comments?
Alexandra is so humble, she takes the rude comments, learns from them and educates us all on how to deal with criticism, self-improvement and great design! ❤️
Yep I'm with you guys, I've noticed there's certain females who think it's their right to roast every room. They pretty much ignore any of the design information that makes sense of why this or that product was used and just want to complain.
You did an amazing job on the refresh, honestly the original room was pretty. Haters gonna hate. Ninety nine percent of your readers love everything you create.
I just turned 74 so we have very different styles but I have adopted some of yours......pom-pom baskets, pom-pom pillows, tassel rugs and more! So fun to add some more modern, boho style. Nothing pink though! I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to your Saturday RUclipss and wish you did one for every day of the week! Keep going and don't pay attention to the negativity. As Vincent van Gogh said: "Go out and paint the stars!"
Me too! I’m older than you are.
Yes, Yes totally Paint the skies remember comments are also reflection of people's Lives too.. funny How You can look at some art on Monday , Hate it & By Saturday it's Become do memorable every Loves it because You Love it... Used to be into Design & found it's Always about Accepting One Self as We're All Evolving dealing with the same or similar upsets in LiFe 😂😂 LOL
I'm a year younger than you and I have also learned from Alexandra. Not the pom-poms (not my style), but the way she puts colors together and gets an overall look that works beautifully. Her kitchen redo was a great example of that. I was a little put off when she decided to get another pink cover for the sofa, but I was wrong. The lighter pink is more of a neutral and it looks really good in that space.
I’m almost 68. I bought a boho shower curtain with tassels after watching Alexandra! It’s fab
@@juliadunn8827 I love this! Even as seniors, we can be adventurous!
I never really understood why everyone seemed to hate the original room so much, but I liked this revisit for showing that it’s OK to have to rethink a room and you don’t have to stick with it just because it’s only been done recently.
Me too
I love how Alexandra used the negative comments to make coin from a mental health services partnership. What an absolute queen move. Stunning before and after.
It was honestly the perfect fit and way for me to talk about my own mental health, something I hope to open up about even more in the future. Thank you for your lovely comment!
Honestly, it was a turn off. Talk about your mental struggles then segue way into a commercial to make money for your sponsor.
@@bouncecat yes, I would. She’s manipulating people’s vulnerability to shill for money.
@@CeeCee630 Maybe she's being honest that she uses mental health services and is introducing an option for others?
Also, creators deserve to be paid. Creating content for us to consume is a job and she deserves to make her coins.
I thought it was incredibly distasteful tbh, it made everything said seem insincere. But anyways, I have an issue with these commercial online practices to begin with (look up some critical articles about it)
I would LOVE to see the living rooms of the people who were criticizing your last make over 🙃 come on, show us!
Looks beautiful, before and after 💜
I thought the first living room design looked nice, and this second design looks even better. My personal style is very different from your style, so I don't usually look at your designs for what I want (I am older than your target market). Instead, I love the tips you give that for improving my own space, and I love seeing how you beautify every space in a way that still meets practical needs. And your personality is darling. Also, it would never occur to me to tell you how to decorate any part of your own home. You and Noah have to like it. Period. I appreciate that you film the process and share it. Keep up the great work. You are very gifted
I love you channel not only for the designs, what i love the most is that you encourage people to diys they rooms with their budge, inspo, ideas etc & that's so appreciated at list by me. Im watching you from Mexico ❤ i really send you my best vibes 🫶
The more you decorate your home, the more you seem to grow comfortable with blending your style with Noah's. It takes time to blend two lives together and I feel that your journey of making a home with your partner is representative of how two people can grow together.
The old look was fine- if it had been framed as a love letter to the treehouse instead of a style mashup, I think it would have been perceived so much more positively. I am proud of you for acknowledging the struggle to let go of a good design. It's a pleasure watching you grow as a designer!
I have to say, I thought the original was fine. Maybe not my favorite room you’d done, but very nice. The redo is very light and airy, and most importantly, you both like it! Design is so personal. I hope you don’t let negative comments get you down. Not every room is going to speak to everyone. I love watching the process and getting new ideas! Great job! ❤️
I realize when I watch videos like this how lucky I am. My husband does not care what I do to our house or what style I decorate it in. I'm so spoiled! I do show him stuff and ask for his opinion, but 99% of the time he's like just get whatever you want lol. It's so nice!
I love your group dynamic, including James' editing of it all. The space looks great! I have so enjoyed watching you evolve in your style.
Team AG is truly the best 💕
I can see James commenting through his editing. He’s adorable. Like all of you!
@@juliadunn8827 The peach butt is a good example of that!

I appreciate so much how you turned a negative experience into a helpful message. Kudos to you!
I genuinely don’t understand why some people, particularly on your channel, feel that they have the license to give you flack. It’s free content!
Queen move partnering with better health and talking about the negativity in your comments section. Love the living room before & after. ♥️
I love this video and your choice of sponsor. Well adjusted people accept constructive criticism that comes from love. I'm a college trained professional Interior designer. I worked as a designer for more than 50 years and I am now retired. I feel sorry for the haters, they don't understand that the main objective is to design a space that functions well and the client loves. You do this beautifully. I worked with many very wealthy clients but you bring affordable and creative design to many and that is a great gift.
I read the comments on your earlier video and didn't think they where meant to be mean spirited. You have a lot of people who love your work and your spirit. I think a lot of people including myself tought you would show us how to mix two different styles. But that doesn't mean I would stop watching you, you are amazing at what you do.
Your partner, space, honesty, production friends, and design are all terrific. Never disliked the 1st iteration. Plez take only what you need from feedback and leave unnecessary negativity at the door. One's home is special and personal - even when shared. Keep goin girl!
When I was younger, my Mom would get a 'design bug' and rearrange our living room, dining room, and kitchen every 3 to 6 months. We'd rearrange the furniture, deep clean, pull items from other rooms, etc. I still do this as an adult. Keep making your space work for you!
I am glad you got rid of that giant floor lamp. You didn't have enough room for it in this space. Utilizing your bench for a table lamp was a great swap.
My husband hears the measuring tape open and cringes. I'm always moving furniture around.
I change things around a lot just because I love design and home keeping. I have very little spare time so its not often ( I work upto 70 hours a week or more) so sleep is most important after my family. So I watch a few channels to feed that love- this is one of my favorites. I was here when she had 20 some followers! Awesome to see her grow and glow! I love seeing her success. Keep going and growing and stay happy!
Same! My mom has always done it and I change myself quite often as well
@@AFOsborne Oh my gosh, your statement about the measuring tape sound tickled me so much! :) I get it...
I know this video is a couple of years old so I hope you get this Alexandra.
Being a retired interior designer I understand that not everyone has the same opinion about design.
I love your design and I love to watch your videos. Keep up the great work! I have been binge watching ever since I found you
I love the bird light in the kitchen actually - so cute! This living room makeover definitely feels more cozy, while still being clean and open and minimal :) Well done guys!!
I didn't read the previous makeover comment section, but just have to say I really liked the before, I see no problem in how it looked like... That being said, I see no much difference now in the general style, or "general vibe". So it only matters if you (who are living the space) enjoy it, and how you guys like it better!! I'm glad you kept it white and bright, and that you added more personal touches like the photos. It was lovely, now it is more lovely.
LOVE the weathered black stain on the bench! It looks amazing with the candleholders and the black framed photos on the ledge. The house feels so large and airy, you could easily get away with large decor pieces like rugs or art that are on the darker side and it wouldn't feel cramped at all. Excited to see this space evolve as you and Noah live in it.
I'm copying that bench as the island in my kitchen! 💯
I ♥️ your designs...and I am 45 years old, your design is clean and fresh, plus Graham has great ideas for DIY... KEEP DOING YOUR THING!
Trust yourself. You're going to evolve from the Tree House but it will still be fabulous. Your viewers will always appreciate what you do, you'll bring us along with you as you grow.
I'm so sorry people are being mean to you. I applaud your fortitude, transparency, and social consciousness. You are not just making a "space" more beautiful. YOU make the world a better place. Sending Big hugs from your "sister" designer/artist. Bravo girl
BTW, I luv the rug you finally selected and seeing the selection process helps to make us all realize how powerful the right rug can be. It's often a big investment and you help people learn how important it is, and give us resources to find more affordable awesome designs.
Also, congratulations on moving in together ❤ Noah seems like a great guy. Every couple has to figure out how to merge styles so that a room reflects bits of each. You did good. AND, you're an awesome photographer! I wouldn't mind a few of those prints myself! Great job🎉
I honestly loved how you did it the first round and I also love the new re-do! I wish people weren't so harsh. I live in a small (400 SF) rental and I think i've redone my living room about 4 times in the past three years. Keep doing you ❤️
I don't know the original video as I only recently discovered your channel, but let me tell you: I love your space before and after the makeover. I don't understand why you got so many negative comments. You are very talented and I love your ideas! Don't let anyone drag you down.
This video is a lesson in design, relationships, dealing with cruel criticism, owning your perceived fragility and how to be an amazing person! ❤️
I grew up with a very artsy mom, and she changed every room in our house at least once every two years! So I find evolving our home spaces to be very normal. Good for you for calling out the negative comments, I think people forget that there is a real human behind this. x
I love that you're taking the beauty in your relationship with Noah and turning it inside out with your design. That's what this double living room makeover process was about for me, and we can clearly see you working on your own sticking points (WHICH WE ALL HAVE, I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT). "When you try to come for me, I keep on flourishing" has never been more true.
I am in my 70s and enjoy your videos You do make places look lovely but I also enjoy watching a young women take on the world and build a successful business. You come across as hardworking and determined. Your staff are great and seem very happy keep up the good work. Sadly a person of your caliber will attract some negativeity from less able and jealous people try to keep that in mind. Because of you I am now thinking of getting a smaller place for my next place
Unless you are completely over a style and want to start decorating in a new style, why not use your own furniture from your previous home? Use what you have. I think the room is beautiful and at the end of the day, whatever makes you happy and comfortable is key to living your best life!
I enjoyed your shout out about mental health & I appreciate the reminder to always be kind. In an online environment, sometimes people forget they are engaging with human beings with thoughts and feelings. Keep up the good work! You're doing great!
Dear Alexandra, I just wanted to send you some love from Switzerland! I follow you since before the tree house, and I saw you grow and liked every step of it. I moved myself with my boyfriend in our apartment and I loved designing and redesigning it, you were one of the most inspiring people I could find. If sometimes you don’t believe in youself, it’s ok, we do :)
Alexandra I watch you all the time and I feel as excited about your designs as the person you're doing it for. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE TROLLS. You are a fantastic designer. Thank you! I'm happy God made you.
Beautiful! A few (hopefully constructive and not mean) comments
1. I still am not sold on a pink sofa, I feel like you're still missing an anchor in that room and would love to see a black velvet soft with soft pink pillows (all matching instead of mismatched)
2. Absolutely love the rug choice!
3. Have you considered getting a piece of glass and then have the two wood pieces as the legs of a coffee table? It would still feel light and airy but would provide extra styling opportunities.
I was hoping they’d paint the picture trim black or something. That wall needs more weight.
@@quirkysaucy yea or even making the frame of the TV black to match the picture frames above :)
With white cat, black sofa???😱
I’d like to see a substantial piece of wooden furniture, a mid-century bar or a proper bookcase. Everything is pretty and I’m glad they are happy with it, but it all looks very inexpensive and of-the-moment. Even that same teak chair in a darker color would feel less trendy.
I do think the photographs help make the space feel more personal, but it still seems like the most Instagram least personal room in the house.
Yeah I had similar thoughts the room is still so bland, nothing is anchoring the room. To me it looks very similar to previous design but that's her style, I have very different taste I prefer dark or colourful rooms. So to each their own 😊
I've gotta say, I LOVE both of the makeovers of this space. Making over a whole room like this is really tough (I know, cause I've been procrastinating on doing my living room for like 5 months). So kudos for all of it! But I do love how you're getting more comfortable with meshing your two styles together. It's a tightrope to walk for sure, we've been doing the same in our relationship. Again, I think you're rocking it. Haters gonna hate, it's SO difficult not to listen to the negative comments, it's human nature. But also, I hope you take the positive comments to heart too. You're my design inspo! xx
I don't comment much but I just wanted to say I love your channel so much. It always brightens my day and inspires me, especially during lockdown. Alexandra you are beautiful and amazing, and I've loved watching you grow and learn in your design style and channel (I've been following you since Chatalain). I've been loving your new house makeover so much, and LOVED your AG office makeover too. YOU GO GIRL!!!!! You deserve everything
Hi Alexandra! I love all your videos, and seeing you grow, not only as a human being, but also as a designer Is been such a pleasure. Your whole crew Is so nice and you guys make me laught so much. I love interior decoration and I have learned one thing or two from your videos. Im 65 years old and I know how It feels when someone makes a bad comment and how hurtful can It be. Take the best of those negative comments for your advantage, and let the rest slip off. You are a fantastic human being and thats It.
I am obsessed with your channel & have been binge watching since yesterday when it randomly came up in my feed. I think I am way older than your desired demographics & even though I have a different style I feel like there are still fun ideas in each video that I can incorporate into my new place. So keep up the great work!
Do what makes the 2 of you happy. You both live there, no one else. Enjoy the change. I enjoy seeing you & your crew every week.
That was well done. Sharing how you personally felt about some of the negative comments you have gotten but at the same time letting people know that you're human too and make mistakes. We're all learning and growing together. I have done a similar thing decorated her room when I first moved in and then come back to it later and came up with some better ideas for the space. I so love your channel And appreciate watching your growth as a designer you're awesome.
I live in a 450 sq ft apartment that has been evolving for approximately 12 to 13 years! It’s just been this year, 2024, that I’m finally content with my design. I’ve tried so many things over the years that I thought would work but didn’t. You really do have to try different things, live with it for a while and see how you feel. I love your channel Alexandra, it’s my absolute favorite design channel! ❤😊
Just wanna say I only found your channel this morning and I’ve been binging all day as I DIY at home - I absolutely adore you!! Totally love learning from you and getting so inspired along the way 💛💛💛 Thank you for inviting us into your life, especially knowing it can come with bumps and bruises - Hope you feel extra appreciated today!
So funny how just moving the TV a bit shifts things so much! Don’t listen to those hate comments - you’ve got a lot of love- thank you for your content!
You’re such a delight to watch and while I didn’t dislike the living room before, you knocked this re-do right out of the park! It looks so cosy and inviting. Can’t wait to see what you do next
You are such an awesome couple. Live your dreams, never stop dreaming. DO NOT let the negative comments cause you anxiety or upset you, as my Mother used to say, Consider the Source. This is your life, your home, you have chosen to share with us and I am so grateful to have found your channel. You are talented, intelligent, a personality that lights up a room, and a very, very good designer. Thank you, your team, and Noah for the joy you bring with each video.
Each and every of your makeovers are made with passion, love and enthusiasm and this is a fortune that not many can say they put in their jobs... The way you talked about mental health is moving and emotional and shows, once more, the kindness of your heart.. regarding the negative comments as Dante wrote in the "Inferno": "Just pass by and do not care about them".... keep walking your own path and keep evolving and growing as you already do... you are lovely and you are great in what you do! ❤
Love your videos, look for it every Saturday morning. Please post them on Rumble so those of us leaving the tube can still watch.
I always enjoy your makeovers! And that being said everyone’s design ideas sometimes are a work in progress,so all these negative comments just blow the haters off! You and Noah are awesome.
Negative comments...I have been subscribed for a week and I have been watching like an addict! I personally am very creative and every year do something to keep my home interesting and homey, love doing it. I have a small space and live on a small island in Greece where I cannot access anything I want. You do a great and gorgeous job with all that you approach...luv it all! Keep going you are very talented and brighten many lives! Thank you for that!
I totally get the whole "styling the house just after moving in" struggle. Been in my current house for over a year and I'm only JUST getting to a place where I'm happy with it. It's hard to feel justified buying new furniture and stuff when you just spent all that money moving! I'm glad you were able to redo it so that you were happier with it.
I love your transparency about the hate comments… also don’t be nervous about mixing your style or using other styles. A lot of your moody less Pom Pom vibe make overs are personally my faves! But I watch every video regardless. 💓💓
Design truly is a process and nobody is perfect all the time. I do prefer this redesign, but personally I wish the red stained glass window was embraced more because it is a permanent fixture. It isn’t in line with your current color palette and the color isn’t repeated anywhere else in the space so it feels out of place in both redesigns. However, your home isn’t about anyone else but you and Noah, so if you guys both love it then job well done. You have created so many beautiful spaces on this channel, one or two that not everyone loves is normal. Not all people can all love the same things at the same time. Side note: shout out to James for the fun editing, especially The Office parkour 😂
I thought it was repeated with the candlesticks, and I agree- our rooms evolve over time!
The new living room is lovely! I like the new sofa color, the ledge display of your photos, the new rug, and the big wood block tables in front of the sofa. It all combines to give a softer and warmer feeling. Well done Alexandra! I am 70 years old and have been designing my rooms through 50 years of marriage. In my experience, a room is never really done because it is always in progress as I grow and as life is ever changing. You and Noah are really sweet together. I enjoy your channel.
I really think you should have kept Noah's blue velvet couch! It was brand new and with a different colour than all these pink shades you usually use. Yours is not bad but even after changing the fabric still looks quite used and the pillows don't have the shape they had when you first got it.... Noah's couch when you did his apartment was awesome!!! And although it was really dark with some girly touches like pillows and blankets in pink ( as it is your favorite colour) I think it would look much more nice in the space...
Absolutely! Softer touches and pink/blush accents would be even more impactful on a colour like his blue sofa. This makeover-makeover is nice, but nothing stands out at all. My main living space is a light taupe-grey with one deep dark blue wall with a slight green undertone. I’ve added oatmeal coloured curtains and area rug to balance the darker colour. My art is all thrifted or local artists with a nature/botanical theme. I’ve actually had more male friends and family compliment the decor more than anyone else.
I agree, the blue couch would have been a statement piece, this couch looks worn because of the pink. Again I was disappointed with the colour palette but it's her home and she has to live in it.
I disagree with throwing out furniture because they look old or lost shape. I lost shape. No one throws me out :D. New is not always better, and she freaking loves her couch.
I agree! His sofa was gorgeous and brand new, and dark blue would go really well with black and pink accents. But it looks like she really loves this couch, so changing the purple-ish cover for a more neutral pink is a good compromise. I would just be a little less eclectic with the cushion choice, if this was my house. I think there is too much going on with all the cushions in different shapes and colors and all the trinkets on the tv console. But well, it's their house.
With how much was said about getting rid of the pink sofa, im surprised she still stuck w it 😅
Alexandra, I totally didn’t realize so many people hated the last makeover! You’ve mentioned this before and I just figured it was a few mean comments, but jeez people went IN! I love all your videos and I’m glad you were able to push past the negativity and redesign the space. Though I do feel bad that you felt the need to change it. I know I’m just one little viewer who will likely go unnoticed, but you have my support 100% and I think you’re so creative and fun to watch! 🥰
I like the rooms open airy feel. The black bench was a good idea. I think that as you get older you will be more confident and immune to negative comments you become. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
I admire your courage for honestly expressing your feelings about the comments. I'll admit that I didn't like your previous living room video. I don't think I left a comment, but I definitely liked some negative ones. My apologies, and thank you for reminding me to be respectful. You are a role model and I learn a lot from you positivity, grace and authenticity!
None of this is my personal style but, I appreciate and LOVE seeing you do these gorgeous designs!
You're killin' it and don't let the negative Nancies get you down! 🖤
Alexandra all my friends and family tell me that I'm a natural when it comes to design. I only do it for myself and for family when I have a chance but I just started watching you a few days ago now in 2022 and I have to say you are awesome especially in designing tough tiny spaces. You make those spaces look amazing don't every let anyone make you feel bad. I have been binge watching your channel. You are great!!!
I can’t believe no one liked the before, I loved it!!! The new version is also lovely but I do miss the purple sofa lol Your accessorising is on point as always!
I realy like the new makeover- I think what I really like is the touches of dark/black that you added. The lines in the rug, the pillow, the picture frames and candle holder and changing out the color of the long low table (that gave such a new look!). Yet the wood with the new tables and chair give the room a warm natural look. So sorry that you had to deal with negative comments- esp when you open and share your home with us.
Totally love the collaboration with Noah!! Maybe if the explanation that was given in this video was given in the 1st one..folks would've understood the Tree House 1.0 moving into New Home 1.0. I am a homeowner, so the rental friendly ideas are also helpful because styles, tastes change and it's easier to peel off a backsplash and floor "tile" then to have to demo walls and floors for an upgrade. You are a very talented lady..Great news on the 400k subscribers!!
A really mature and balanced response to the haters while being honest and open about the impact it has on you. Hopefully people will be more thoughtful ❤️
Ive always liked pink couches and i love how you said that you can have pink in shared spaces! All about that compromise and styling :)
My partner and I have more distinct spaces in our home too. We just have different styles and we like having the spaces to express that. It doesnt matter to us if our rooms dont flow perfectly because its our space and we love it and live in it. I must say though this glow up is lovely!
Alexandra, your content is amazing, you put so much work into your videos. Being in the public eye has its benefits and negative sides, like people sending you terrible comments without thinking that it could hurt your feelings. Just know you are amazing and don't let them get you down!
Ms. Gater, I have been a fan since Chatelaine. I have loved every.single.video. We have different styles, but we have IDENTICAL sofas. Mauve velvet dreams, baby!
I love that you do not speak the language of RUclips .. you are unique and finally design with personality and color ... in love!
You and Noah seems like great people and you have great together-taste, do not change for anything or anyone ❤️😊
What's most important is that you and Noah like it. Don't listen to the mean people; they're the unhappy ones.
When you put that 3rd rug down you hit the mark. I liked the other 2 as well but when you put the third one down oh what a difference. I like the design and the coziness that it adds to the room. It's Loddy approved too! The tree stump tables were another favorite of mine too. Love it! You two will enjoy it years to come.
This looks great - it's got a more "finished" feel than the previous version, with a depth of texture, contrast/variety, and more places that lead the eye on a pleasing path around the room... it's lovely, I hope you're thrilled with it :)
Thank you for what you said. You can’t please everyone but sometimes the RUclips comment section can be a lot, especially if you share your living space which is very intimate and it can feel really icky to read some comments and it makes you doubt your own judgement when…design is INDEED a process. Chin up, Alexandra!!! ❤️
It is not true that everyone hated it cause I loved it !!! 😲🤷♀️ I don't understand negative comments at all... You are so talented and sometimes people don't understand creativity and what design really is! Don't beat yourself up 😊🧡 Can't wait to see your next videos 😁
Yes you did very very well addressing the comments and the living room-both times
Your First was the set up of a New Living space for you both with your existing items styled for that transition. This is your design with both of you giving your input and putting your styles in there
but once you’ve lived in a house you see what works and what doesn’t I think it’s an excellent way to show how rooms evolve and sometimes everything needs a fresher look to fall in love with it again.
Love getting to see the entire Team A.G!
You have such an amazing team and you're a team player with great leadership.
Keep it up girl!
Wow! So amazed by your openness and vulnerability. I could go on forever about everything you are doing that benefits viewers personally and professionally but in a nutshell you're awesome Alexandra! Thank you!
I loved the living room the way it was before but now I really love the new space! The rug is beautiful and ties in so well! I'm so sorry that people are so cruel and I'm betting if they were face to face they wouldn't be making such stupid comments! You are doing a fabulous job on your new home and now you can just sit back and enjoy it!
Loved it. Please don’t let anyone dim your light even for a moment. The world needs more of you and some people have nothing better to do than insert their ill informed opinions. You rock! 💗💗💗🇨🇦
I was really sad reading all the negative comments on the previous makeover, and I'm really sorry that it was making you feel so nervous this time around. I felt like I was in the minority last time (in that I enjoyed the video and the makeover), but with that said I think this time around it came out even better! It looks so cozy and homey, and really seems to be a blend of your two styles. I also loved that you mainly used what you already had in a new way. Keep doing you and making amazing entertainment/education for your community!! XOXO
This looks so much nicer! Good job! It's still white walls, pink couch, and cream colored rug with black diamonds, but it looks so much more well pulled together this time. I think the black bench, wood end/coffee tables, and even that amber colored lamp help warm it up! I'm glad that you re-did this room and think it looks great.
I actually love how much we get to see the rest of your team :) nothing wrong with having help ✌️ I didn’t mind the first living room. Critics will be louder but that doesn’t make them the majority 😅
Recently discovered this channel and binge watching
I 💖how Alexandra used some furniture and décor already owned in this makeover because it's more realistic. Most people can't afford to do a make over and replace every single item in a room at once. I find peoples decorating style ideas and needs evolve with our ever-changing landscape of life and relationship dynamics. This fact was beautifully highlighted in this episode.
I like this a lot...simple comfort! I love the beautiful coffee tables! If you entertain often and need more coffee table space for appetizers and drinks have a piece of thick glass cut to span both tables and just tuck it away in a closet or behind furniture when not needed.
Excellent 💡
Love, love, love the side tables and lamp! So gorgeous! Alexandra I understand you need to read the comments to make sure you keep your viewers happy… but…. You will never please everyone. It’s just not possible. Although I know you want to because you’re just such a wonderful human being. But please don’t let it get the best of you. Stay true to yourself and keep growing. I’m pretty sure they don’t have as many viewers as you do and maybe wouldn’t even be able to be successful at one makeover anyway. You have pulled so many off. Also you and Noah are so great together. Great job on the makeover. And another thing. I think it’s great you’re spreading the word on mental help. A lot of people won’t speak about this very important subject. Thank you for all that you do.
I love the end result, love the compromise! I will say, just changing the finish/color of the bench makes all the difference for me on that wall!! It was a little lost in it before, now it stands out in all the right ways. Also loving the lighter pink couch color. Great job (again)!!!
I like the candle sconces, the frames on the molding, and the new chair, but this living room looks the same. I'm sure when everyone forgets how contentious this space is and you are busy working on other projects that inspiration will find you again for this very unique room! It's a process like you said.
I loved the redo. I think it even fits more with the dining room and the black accents. Great job.
thought so too!
I don’t comment often but I want to say I love your channel and I am a super fan! Please ignore the haters. Some people are just grinches. You are amazing at what you do and over 400K followers is proof of that. You are funny, kind, smart, beautiful and so incredibly talented. And most of all you are loved! Thank you for sharing your knowledge here. ❤️❤️❤️
