I had an RCBS primer flip tray layer around. It does fit well after filing some. Have not tested it with primer yet but if it works that would enhance the usability of this press. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for some good info. I enjoy improving machinery. I have to say for anyone watching, mistakes are part of the game, no blood, no foul. The primer tray is hard to get to because of the explosion guard. Most re loaders don't even think of smocking in the room or area. To each his own, Do you want to be called " LEFTY "? GOD BLESS YOU. Got my new ACP today and they have changed a few things. The small and large base bushings (where your shell holder would normally go) and now steel rather than plastic like the black ones yours came with. Watching your video now and have noticed several other changes.
@@andy79z28 That's good. I primed a few cases today with zero problems. Not crazy about some of the plastic parts and especially the primer shoot but it works and that's what counts. Watched your videos along with a few more before I ordered mine and your video was what convinced me to give one a try. Thanks for doing them.
Well seems mine has an issue with feeding primers. There's a twist in the primer shoot that keeps stopping the flow of primers. It's full of primers (50) so it's not a low primer count causing it. Looking at yours and a few others online mine definitely has an issue from the molding process. The leg on the new style spring makes it even worse by causing a twist. Lee is closed for the day so I'll be on the phone to them tomorrow.
Make sure the little spring at the left side of the bottom of the chute is installed correct. Mine was missing and had trouble getting it installed right. There is a picture of how it goes in the instruction sheets
@@andy79z28 yeah it's installed correct. That spring is so little and hard to hang on to. But yeah there is a problem with the way mine was molded. Looks like it twisted before it had time to cool. It looks a lot different from yours and others I've seen. Yours looks relatively straight as well as all the others I've seen. They will probably have to send me a new primer shoot. @@andy79z28 hey Andy, I did a repair ticket online and sent pictures of the problem with it. The engineer said he thought it was a problem with the lower insert so they are sending me that and a new primer shoot at no charge. Been using their stuff over 20 years because they are good people. I'll update you when I get it straightened out. Thanks for responding.
I just picked up this Lee ACP last week. Had no problems at all depriming and priming about 700 45 acp cases til I had an issue with that little spring he said he had to search for ended up falling off, so I'm here looking to see if I can reinstall it properly the first time.
I like the tip about using the RCBS primer tray. I feel that lee sometimes gets a little too cheap with their detail quality. Ya, their stuff works, however, it would not cost much more to put it in better build quality. Nice video Andy. keep up the good work -Dave
Just curious why you dislike the lee primer tray so much... Just got my ACP in a couple days ago and the Lee tray works well and is easy to use ..because the you can access the slider from the back of the tray. Also When I contacted Lee about the primer trough they said "Try pushing the trough together with your thumb and finger on one hand, and then with your other hand slide the tray in until it snaps in." and that works great for closing up the gap and securely holding the primer tray in correctly. Oh one other thing... the small and large inserts on the bottom are now made of metal instead of the plastic like yours.
I have the new updated parts they are now metal. As for the primer tray - I never liked it on my bench primer as well. The rcbs can hold a lot more primers the the LEE and I am not the only one that does not like the LEE
@@andy79z28 I know your not the only one that doesn't like the Lee tray... I was just curious why. Lee did make changes after they first released the new tray and the changes seem to have fixed any problems people were having. I have 2 of the Lee trays and load them both up... that's 200 cases I can prime with a 30 sec change over. That works for me. I do have an RCBS tray like yours if I ever need a back up. Take care
so its uses the app swage kit, and they swapped the swage pin for a shorter pin to prime. what im seeing is its an APP that they added priming to. so i wonder when the priming kit for the app will be released.
Not really. The press is different from the APP - there is no shell holder! And the APP you can not add the priming system to. Now you may be able to swage on the ACP as the breeckh lock bushings will fit in the bottom and the top. I tried to de-prime using a universal de-primer but there is nothing to hold the brass as there is not shell holder. I have to try to switch in some of the APP stuff to see what works and does not work. I will make a video after I play around with it more of what works and does not work.
@@andy79z28 the casting of the base is the same, my app has the milling and cut in the base casting for the primer thorough the lower adaptor from the app should go right in the acp with no issue as well as the apc lower adaptor should go right in the app. Only real difference im seeing is the blash shield and the cut in the rear arm. If lee was smart the app would use that same part.
@@thegundles1472 I will be checking it out further there are some differences. Just need the time to do it. I will try to get another video up this week comparing them. And what I find out.
@@thegundles1472 I compared my APP to the ACP my app does not have a split plate on the back so the primer chute will not go it as well as the primer chute has to be screwed down to the plastic part (the part the slider rides on) and does not have any place to screw it to. Also the app has a spring from top to bottom on a rod to help return the press to the up position. It can be removed however. I can not see it work. The price of the parts needed to buy to do the conversion cost more then buying the ACP.
It is not hard to use - I am sure you can do it. But unless you load a lot of ammo it may not be worth it to you. I load in groups of 500 so it saves lots of time.
Hi, many folks keep there own shells to shoot only from there own gun. and can shoot 2 even 3 times without resize or trim, just batch measure specs. this is supposed to increase shell life.
