My friend and I saw Zappa in Ft Lauderdale twice in one night when we had bought tickets and then won another pair on the radio for the later show . We did not realize just how lucky we were. He was in top form.
had the wonderful opportunity to see Frank Zappa play Sydney and Brisbane in 1973. His band included everyone from the Overnight Sensation album including George Duke and the enigmatic Ruth Underwood. The most impressionable concerts I have seen so far in my life
Yeah. I am impressed you understood it. The Spaghetti Tree was a commercial when I was a child and it first threw me, therefore was memorable forever. Those are things I enjoy finding so they can be incorporated into another place where it can confuse others in a new way or to remind them of reasons that the best TV is an unplugged one. Thanks for popping in.
Frank is generally considered to be a rocker. And rock is part of his work. But Frank was more into what is known in the jazz world as "fusion," His music was often a fusion of different styles of music, and instruments, not common to the rock genre. "Montana," is a good example of this fusion. Frank was also an artist on canvas. Well, maybe canvas. But if you ever have a picture, done by Frank Zappa, you might want to hang onto it for a spell.
Excellent! This is one of my all time favorite songs, and your video actually did it justice! Thanks very much for posting this. Thumbs up, added to favorites and shared. Yippie-yi-yo-ki-yay!
I really love the real "Rock & Roll" I have been sad since Mr.Zappa left us and Mr. Zevon; but rececently Mr Everly.... LONG LiVE ROCK........( the Who)....half of the Who still are alive.
IThis is great and so fresh at the time and still resonates. I saw another vid from 63' of Frank on the steve Allen show. . they treated him like a joke then but little did they know what would come...
absolutely true.... it took several days to get that high pitched jibberish down. she and Ike were in the studio next door and Frank went over to ask if she would do back up.
It is as beautiful as the retractability of the talons of rapacious birds or as the uncertainty of muscular movements in wounds of the soft tissues of the posterior cervical region.
Please pardon my absence. I've been in the hospital. As per your other post: You know if you are a transperson, I'd be extra proud to have you in my band. I bet that wasn't necessarily easy to deal with. That makes for a stronger person. Glad you like the video.
Love the video, The song goes without saying. I've always been a Zappa freak, but the guitar solo on this track make my eyes vibrate,it's what is known as a blinder of a guitar solo. I think I should watch the video with the volume turned down. that way I'll be able to watch the whole thing.
This is an old vid. That clip was the hardest thing to find in order to complete it a million years ago. Thanks for noticing! But No to your question. That was from a Dental Convention hosted in Montana at the State Fair in Helena and a display created by dental floss makers trying to make a buck. It was hosted on a Wednesday after Prince played there to Tuesday prior. Thanks for stopping by.
Kids today don't get Zappa, actually like many things that were considered a bit strange even to many of the older generation, it bears a bit of explanation to really understand unless you were in the scene. Frank Zappa is what you would consider a "musician's musician". He made music solely for the sake of being funky, fantastic and technically perfect. He's similar in a way to Hendrix in that he just had sounds in his head he wanted to explore. Just more perfectionist oriented.
Nah, but close enough. If Lewis and Jimi met there would be an ocean of blood and brains due to the amount of heads that would explode from sheer trippyness.
Brilliant job, kudos to you sir or madam~~~ Great tune, and your visual treatment reveals your love and respect for the "material"~~~ PS "Category: Travel and Events" ?!?!?
i wasn't referring to the band, Yes. however, every aural element of this recording bring to mind the word, "yes". hence, everything about this is yes.
He is lucky he wasn't Arkansas'd in Afghanistan. He's not a celebrity. Allow his to carry his water for the thirsty masses before they kill their TV sets.

Nice. Don't expect to see it topped anywhere.
Saw the band at Wembley in 1973. Blew my teenage mind. Brilliant!
I have listened to this song for about 40 years now...and still don't know what they say...And i love it when it sticks in my head...
That guitar solo is so f**king perfect

Me and the pigmy pony would fare just fine. All the other wranglers might say we were mighty grand!

Wonderful. I was just imagining this very video. Right down to the old footage of the British "Pasta Crop" hoax. Thanks for creating this.

This song is amazing, but Frank's jazz work is incredible beyond words.

Cats have retractable claws. Are you sure raptors and hawks and eagles, etc actually retract. What's the point of a fingernail if they retract?
I do not know, ask Maldoror, Count of Lautréamont!
Will it require riddles involving swallows?
Mewving to Montana sooooon gonna be a dental floss tycoon!
Thank you so much for the upload. I love this song.
Brilliant.Thanks.
WOW. THANKS. APPRECIATE YOUR ENTHUSIASM... STOP BACK AROUND. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S NEW IN BALTIMORE EITHER...
Great song and album!
Cool film you made there. Great addition to one from Zappa's best album. Thumbs up from the BadMan.

The only other musician I can think of who can play like that but isn't known chiefly as a guitarist is Prince, believe it or not.
standingwave73 Watermelon in Easter Hay is soulful like
prince.
Wish you were still here Frank!

This song should be sung on American Idol LOL.

FRANK ZAPPA IS THE BEST!
As Frank himself wrote, "music is the best".
So I think it's reasonable to say FZ's music is the best.
"Movin' to Montana soon, gonna be a dental floss tycoon..."

Zappa could've quoted Salvador Dali: "I AM drugs."

Zappa was actually antidrug. His lyrics were more a commentary of those times.
So was Dali. That was the point
Thanks for the video! :)
